I have 3 MACs in an office with a bunch of Win PCs. I have 3 network printers. The Win PCs will print just fine. The MACs will not print. The drivers install and the MAC sees the printer. Can check toner and ink levels and the MAC thinks the data has printed. But nothing comes out.

I bought an Epson C2800N which is a network laser printer. It is connected to my router with "ethernet" cable. I am able to connect to my printer over cable connection (when i have my MPB network connection with "ethernet" cable) but when I use the wireless connection (airport) I can't connect to my printer. It happens with my MBP17 and my bro's MBP15'.

View 3 Replies View Relatedhe has DSL internet service. I'm not sure what modem he has or what wireless router he has but I know they're are not Apple's brand. He told me that he has the iMac set up as a print server. When he gets out his daughters Blackbook he cant get it to print wirelessly through the wireless network, he told me he has to plug the printer into the Blackbook to get it to print. I'm guessing he is doing this via USB cable.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a networked printer in my home network. I also have a (working) PPTP VPN set up to connect to that home network while on the road. When I open the VPN tunnel, I can adress all devices on the network, including the printer. I can ping it as well as open its Web front end (via Safari). The only thing that doesn't work is: I can't print over the tunnel! I've tried turning on "send all traffic over VPN", but that didn't help. Some research on the web seems to indicate that the solution lies in an option "Exclude Local LAN from Tunnel". This, however, is not an option for the built-in PPTP client in Lion.

So I'm trying to print to a network printer, connected to a Vista PC. My Brother (windows fanboy) is able to print just fine through his wireless PC (Win7) but I can't get my head around why I cannot. I saved a webpage that helped me out before (used on Leopard) which use to work but it no longer work

I'm trying to make my laptop as mobile as possible and I'm wondering what I need to buy to accomplish this.
I would like to be able to access my external hard drive [s] wirelessly. I currently have three external drives, and I would also like to print wirelessly [which may be a problem because I have the Epson 595 ].
What would you recommend I purchase to make this work? Do I need a second laptop to run as a 'server' or can I just get something like the AEBS or can I use my existing Linksys router somehow?
I'm trying to get used my first iMac, and I'm having a bit of trouble printing from my wireless network. I have an HP Officejet 6210 that I have been using for the last couple of years with my Windows computer. I'm trying to print off of that through my network, but I keep getting this error
"There is a problem communicating with the printer. Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the computer. Delete or stop the job and try again."
I have printer sharing turned on through my Windows computer since the printer is connected directly through my windows computer. My other Windows computer that I have at the house can print through the network, but I'm having problems doing so with my iMac. I have the right driver selected through system preferences/print & fax, but it just won't print.
Any suggestions about what I'm doing wrong, or is there something I'm missing?
Trying everything from installing ix4000's driver to CUPS driver and so on. The printer works fine when connected to my MacBook Pro but when trying to print on windows xp network.. nothing happens.
Sometimes it says not authorized some time it keeps on trying.
When adding a printer I choose windows and I see it and can add it . The driver is available and everything works fine....But it doesn't print or it seems MBP can't send information to that computer which has the printer. The printer on that computer (XP) is shared .

I have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer!
It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.
I have had difficulty in attaching my HP Photosmart C5580 printer to my new MacBookPro (OSX 10.6) through my Netgear WGPS606 print server. After much searching I found previous posts here which advised me to add the Gutenprint driver 5.2.6 which I did. That finally DID successfully attach the printer through the server.
However, there is a lag of many seconds (sometimes minutes) between the SEND command and the starting of the printer. Is this the new normal that I need to expect or is there a fix?
Is there a way to force Safari to print what I see on a webpage, and not default to the print style? I'm trying to print a graphically-rich site and the print.css doesn't cut it, making everything look like trash (unformatted text, etc.).

I'm trying to print an Excel 2004 .xls spreadsheet file where I'm using to record attendance for the class I teach.I have my main Column A with Rows A-X and it shows up fine, I imagine because there is content in the boxes.
But I also have Columns B-L and rows A-X with nothing in their cells, but when I print it, they won't print.I need these blank because I'll check them off if the child in the first column attended the lesson. How do I make it so my many blank cells will print as well?

I'm using a MacBook, Mac OS 10.5.8. I've downloaded the driver for HP LaserJet m1319f MFP and the printer worked fine when I connect it directly to my MacBook (using USB connection).The problem is that printer is supposed to be connected to our office network users through a TP-Link Print Server (TL-PS110U). I've tried to use AppleTalk to connect to that print server but my MacBook only recognized that HP printer as a HP Fax machine and I can't print anything.

i'm trying to print some stuff off using adobe and some parts are printing, but some aren't. I've had this problem before i would print of some formula sheets for my finance class and basically if it wasn't a letter it wouldn't print it off but now it's taking out a lot more.
in the first picture you can see how i went through and wrote the stuff in, wasn't that big of a deal.
second picture is one page from the file that printed out fine
third picture, the entire top part is supposed to have a paragraph on it.
I have Alltel Mobile Broadband. Up until the other day, it's been working fine. I'd set up a network on my macbook after connecting to the Alltel network, then I'd enable internet sharing. Then my iPod Touch, iPad, etc would all be able to go online.
The past couple days, however, the connection just won't share.Anyone have any idea what could be doing this and how to fix it?
Is there any thing available that will allow me to print to a PDF file? I'm trying to export something to a PDF file that does not have the feature as standard. I know it can be done in Windows as there are a few Print to PDF applications. but I can't find a Mac one.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen I open my Network in System Preferences, "Network settings have been changed by another application" pops up and every time I click Ok, it pops up again, not letting me be able to access any other option in the Network window. The wireless icon has disappeared from my top bar and the only way I have managed to get online is via my ethernet cable. I have had nothing but problems since I started using my O2 Wireless Broadband dongle and I've noticed that behind the "Network settings have been changed by another application" notification, I can seen the Dongle has appeared as a new network connection option... but was never there before today (have been using the dongle for two months now)
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy neighbor has an IMac with OS 10.4.11 installed. When I open System Preferences and select the Network icon, the Network window comes up but it is overlayed with a message that states: "Your network settings have been changed by another application." When I click OK, this same overlaid window comes back.
The only way I can get out of System Preferences at this point is to do a Force Quit. In other words, because this overlaid window appears, I am unable to access the Network window to look at TCP/IP settings, make changes, etc.
Next I went into System/Library/Preference Panes/Network.prefPane(more info) to look at the application that appeared in the "Open with" field. It stated "System Preference." I replaced this with a new "System Preferences from the Applications Folder, but the same thing happened - even after I rebooted the computer.
Please let me know how to solve this problem so I can access the Network System Preferences properly.

I have a home network running 3 PC's(with XP) and 2 Macs (with Tiger OS X 10.4.8). Mysteriously one of my Macs(MacMini) refuses to show a Network icon in the Finder sidebar? I have used the Go > Network menu to try to get a Network icon, but this does work. Yesterday I did a scheduled Mac OS system update, and it seems that since then I have not been able to see/get a Network icon in my Finder.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? PS - I am able to use the old 'GO > Connect to Computer' method, then type in the smb://myOfficePc, and access shared files on other PCs on the network. So networking is configured properly on this MacMini.
I am trying to figure out how to automatically connect a MacBook to a network drive after connecting to the wireless network that the drive is connected to.
Here is the situation:
I back-up my wife's MacBook via Time Machine to an external hard drive that is connected to my Apple desktop. It works great! I even have her system setup to automatically mount the drive upon log-in. Unfortunately, after leaving our wireless signal and then coming back the time machine drive isn't automatically mounted since she isn't "logging back-in". Is there an automator script that can be built to automatically connect to drive X after connecting to wireless network Z?
I've searched everywhere and have one nagging issue. After I uninstalled Parallels I keep getting two Parallels Virtual Network Connections under Network in System Preferences. It happens every time I restart, I have to redeleate them. Has anyone had this problem after uninstalling Parallels?
View 5 Replies View RelatedHave recently done a clean install of Lion onto a Mac Pro that was running Snow Leopard. Upgradede to 10.7.3 The Lion Mac sits on an office network of several macs running Snow Leopard and a Network Shared HDD. In order to gain quick full access to the other computers we have been using "connect as" then inputting the macs registerred user administrator details, we were able us access to the full Mac and it's currently mounted hard drives. Since installing Lion I can see and fully access the network share which only uses guest access, see the Other macs in finder, add to their drop boxes but not connect as a registerred user to access one of the snow Leopard machines. I get a pop up. Spinning wheel, and eventually a timeout. Can't even cancel this action as it comes up greyed out. Oddly the other macs can still log into the Lion machine. No joy so far toggling network preferrences and I'm pretty sure it's going to be a setting I have missed, So far have had not joy looking online or playing in seeing why it would now not be able to connect as before.

I have a slow network issue. I'll try to make it as simple as possible.
1 MacBook Pro
1 Airport Extreme
1 Airport Express to Extend the Network
The network to my living room was slow, so I added the Express to extend the network. When connected through the Express, with a Time Machine backup, I'm getting about 500K/sec transfer speeds. When I move the laptop away from the Express and close to the Extreme, the network works much faster, about 5MB/sec. I don't understand why the network is so much slower when using the Airport Express as a network extender. Is the speed difference normally that much? If it's not supposed to be, is there anything I can do?
Not sure even where to start. I have the Apple extreme router, WD network drive and 2 express units throughout the house. Looking to access the netwrk drive from MAcbook and TV that has internet connect through BLuRay disk.Router is behaving ok and the network drive is set up.Not sure where to from here. Any manuals available to take one through step by step?
