I bought an Epson C2800N which is a network laser printer. It is connected to my router with "ethernet" cable. I am able to connect to my printer over cable connection (when i have my MPB network connection with "ethernet" cable) but when I use the wireless connection (airport) I can't connect to my printer. It happens with my MBP17 and my bro's MBP15'.

I'm trying to get used my first iMac, and I'm having a bit of trouble printing from my wireless network. I have an HP Officejet 6210 that I have been using for the last couple of years with my Windows computer. I'm trying to print off of that through my network, but I keep getting this error
"There is a problem communicating with the printer. Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the computer. Delete or stop the job and try again."
I have printer sharing turned on through my Windows computer since the printer is connected directly through my windows computer. My other Windows computer that I have at the house can print through the network, but I'm having problems doing so with my iMac. I have the right driver selected through system preferences/print & fax, but it just won't print.
Any suggestions about what I'm doing wrong, or is there something I'm missing?
My Mac is not seeing my wireless HP printer when trying to print a Word document. I can print from other Microsoft apps (excel). This only started happening yesterday afternoon.Â

I used to connect wirelessly through a router. I can't connect anymore with my macbook, I have a message "connection timeout" when I choose appropriate network and type the code (I tried both WPA and WEP). The thing is I can connect without any issue onto the same network using a pc.
I have also a partition with Windows vista on my macbook but still I can't go online.
My MacBook Pro is connected to a wireless Belkin network with no issues, but I cannot seem to add the printer to the same network.Â

I have just bought a macbook, my internet connection at home is wireless however it requires the IP address of each computer using the wireless network to be entered into my wireless account, just an extra security measure. My new macbook has never been connected to the internet as I can not find the IP address I have tried applications/utlities/network utility and there is just a blank space where it says IP address. I have also tried System prefences/network and there is no IP address there either.

I also have a (working) PPTP VPN set up to connect to that home network while on the road. When I open the VPN tunnel, I can adress all devices on the network, including the printer. I can ping it as well as open its Web front end (via Safari). The only thing that doesn't work is: I can't print over the tunnel! I've tried turning on "send all traffic over VPN", but that didn't help. Some research on the web seems to indicate that the solution lies in an option "Exclude Local LAN from Tunnel". This, however, is not an option for the built-in PPTP client in Lion.Â

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a new intern with a small company and am trying to connect my Macbook Pro's printer settings to our office printer, which is a LanierLD145. We halso have an HP3600 on the same wireless network which my Macbook can detect and print to just fine via the shared network server. However, when I try to find the LanierLD145 I can't find it anywhere on my shared network or via a wireless to connection in order to print to it from my laptop.
I have access to the desktop I believe the printer is routed to the server through and have "shared printer with network" via this computer. However, I still cannot find the LD145 icon on my macbook when I try to connect and print, even when going through the "Windows"-> (shared server) route. I've also installed apple's "general lanier printer driver" in hopes have luck finding the printer if I have the driver installed, but that has not worked either. How I can connect the macbook to the LanierLD145 via my wireless server connection?

My Brother (windows fanboy) is able to print just fine through his wireless PC (Win7) but I can't get my head around why I cannot. My family owns 2 MacBooks plus XP desk top and Vista laptop. Wireless setup is provided with an older linksys a/b/g router and Comcast Cable Modem. The 2 MacBooks have frequent problems printing to the Brother 5250 DN printer, with connect fails. I have to reset the IP addresss frequently to get the printers to work with the wireless side of the network. The Windows OS PC's don't experience this problem. I am at a loss as to why the Macs have this IP problems.
View 11 Replies View RelatedWe just purchased a HP Officejet 6500 Wireless printer for our home and currently have one desktop, and 2 laptops running windows xp. These machines have no problems connecting to the wireless printer. My G4 PB running 10.4.11 on the other hand has issues. The software says it is compatible with my Mac setup. I run through the HP Starter CD and install all drivers, when the installation is complete it says everything went fine. I have the printer installed and can choose to print with it. But when I do, I get the following. I have deleted and reinstalled a couple of times with out any success. Sorry for the huge photo, but it was kind of necessary to see everything, and I wasn't sure how to make it so you can click on it and enlarge.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running into a headache with my wireless network connections. When I close my laptop to put it to sleep, I often lose my network connection. It is easy enough to reconnect; I simply try to connect to a web page, get network diagnostics, and re-enter my password (and click on the "remember password" box). All works great -- until I next close the laptop. It happens all the time at one site, sometimes at home (using Time Capsule), and seldom at the church where I volunteer.
I have checked all my settings and can't figure out what's going on. If my poor memory is correct, I didn't use to have this problem, but it has been going on for the last couple of months. I know I could keep the sucker open, but I want to save power by putting it to sleep -- and the desk where I work at home has a sliding drawer so it has to be closed to close the drawer. (And my network connections are all in the desk also.) I've posted this question to the Apple forum but haven't gotten any replies there other than a couple of followup questions. I am using Time Capsule as my router and I have updated the software
I've got another thing I wish to figure out. I wish to have my iMac and my mate's Asus eeePC netbook to both connect with one another in a network.
The whole main reason I wish is to share my iTunes music library. So he gets to be able to play the music.

Recently I have connected to a local wireless network connection through windows in my bootcamp.

I've been trying all day to get my new wireless printer to find my wireless network. No joy.
I have an airport extreme router connected to an AT&T 2WIRE modem. The guys that installed the AT&T stuff recently said I normally wouldn't need the airport extreme because the 2WIRE serves as both modem and router, however it does not work with an airport express, which I have in another room to boost the signal. So when the printer looks for the (SSID) network, it sees my apple network, which is what my macbook and windows vista laptops also see and connect to. After that, I'm entering the wireless network key from the 2WIRE.
I'm trying to make my laptop as mobile as possible and I'm wondering what I need to buy to accomplish this.
I would like to be able to access my external hard drive [s] wirelessly. I currently have three external drives, and I would also like to print wirelessly [which may be a problem because I have the Epson 595 ].
What would you recommend I purchase to make this work? Do I need a second laptop to run as a 'server' or can I just get something like the AEBS or can I use my existing Linksys router somehow?
Lately I've been using my schools wireless connection, and when I have AirPort on, I noticed that on Share tab, on Finder, I can see anothers PC's and Macs that are using the same wireless, I tried to enter on another mac and I saw some folders and documents, I was logged as a guest! So the question here is: when I'm using AirPort, with the osx firewall, can somebody see my folders like I saw the other?

I am trying to find info on printer wirelessly but having a hard time figuring it out.
The college I attend has a wireless network available to students. You don't need a key or anything to join the network, but once you're connected, you need to open a browser that automatically directs you to a website where once you log in, you are granted internet access. Similar to what you get a Starbucks, hotels, airports, etc. This used to work fine, but recently I have had nothing but trouble with it.
I can connect to the network fine, but when I open the browser I cannot get to the page where I need to log in--nothing ever loads and the browser eventually times out. I have tried resetting Safari, using Firefox, turned off pop-up blockers, renewed my DHCP lease, and nothing seems to do anything. I should add that I can complete this process with no issues on my iPhone. Also, I get the same result with 2 different MBP's. Both run Snow Leopard.
Looking for a Wireless color all in one laser printer, It looks like Brother is the only one that makes it? I also heard you can't scan or fax wirelessly, only print? These three are in the $300-$500 range. Price is not a concern, quality is, as is wireless printing if possible or at least attached to my Time Capsule. View 4 Replies View RelatedAt home I have about four laptops and one desktop computers. All of them use a wireless connection to connect to the internet. Sometimes, one of my siblings is downloading something huge or is downloading torrents or what not and it cripples the speed for the rest of us.
I also can't see if someone has managed to crack my WEP password and is using my connection (a neighbor or someone). Is there freeware that tells me who is connected to my network and how much traffic or data they are using?
Well I'm here at college and my iBook keeps giving me connection errors when trying to connect to the wireless network. It works fine at my house but it only works occasionally here at school. I'm not sure what the problem is but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of what I could try to fix this issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Internet has just been upgraded from 2MB/s to 10MB/s. To confirm the upgrade I have used [URL:...] to test my upload/download speeds with Firefox and Safari. I have 2 computers on my network which consists of a cable modem connected to a white airport base station with 128 bit WEP encryption in 802.11 b/g compatible mode. The 2 computers are a dual 2.8 ghz MacPro which is wired directly into the Airport base station by Ethernet and an iMac 1.83 Intel core 2 duo. The much faster MacPro only achieves a download speed of 5.5MB/s over its wired connection while the slower iMac achieves 9.8MB/s - very close to the advertised speed over its wireless connection. These are consistent speeds not one offs so I am wondering why the difference? The MacPro is my main machine so I'd like to have the best speed possible on that. What can I try?

When I click �Connect As...� in hopes of getting a login screen, nothing happens at all. Nada. Zilch. Zip.
The sharing settings on the MacBook are identical to the ones on the other five. Of course, the MacBook can connect the other direction to everyone, including my brand spankin� new MBP.
Any clues, oh wise ones? I�m stumped. What is it about getting into a simple MacBook that has two G4s and two MBPs scratching their heads?
