I bought my first Macbook Pro 15? and I installed Windows 7 64-bit using bootcamp without any problem. Thereafter, I used Parallels 5 to create a virtual machine for Windows 7 and be able to run Windows 7 within the Snow Leopard OS and be able to move back and forth between the two operating systems. However, Parallels 5 created two virtual machines, one called Boot Camp and one called Windows 7. When I was installing Parallels I chose to create the Windows 7 virtual machine but never asked Parallels to create the Boot Camp virtual machine. Where this other virtual machine is coming from? Am I able to delete it without creating any problem or conflicts? Moreover, I have two shortcut icons on the Mac pointing to either of these two partitions. Similarly I have two windows folders on the right side of the Mac dock. What should I do to have only the Windows 7 virtual machine without creating any problems or conflicts?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed windows 7 on a separate partition using Bootcamp.
Thing is, I changed my mind and I want to add more space to this partition. Is there any way of doing this?
Also, now that I have Windows 7 installed. How do I change from one to another? I thought there would be an option at startup but it just goes straight to OSX
I used bootcamp to create a partition for installing Windows.
Everything worked fine and I still see the Windows partition on Mac OS.
But when I used Disk Management on the Windows and split its partition to 2 new partitions (C: and D: on Windows), they didn't show up on the Mac OS. The Mac OS still showed the Windows partition as one (which is created by bootcamp), not two.
I'm using Vista Ultimate with and Mac OS X 10.5.2.
I am on Snow Leopard, 10.6.2.
Today I created a partition on the wrong drive ( where all my family pictures and videos are ) and now I can't access the drive at all.
I am guessing the files are still there but I am clueless on what to do.
Recently, I was installing Windows 7 on my Bootcamp partition, and the installation was going fine, but I ran out of energy so the installation was interrupted. I boot my Mac OS, opened Bootcamp and erased the partition just to create it again and install Windows once again. However, when I loaded the installation from my DVD, I got an error message saying that a CD/DVD driver was missing, and it found no hard drives even after rescanning my computer. When I chose browse, I was surprised when I saw not 2, but 3 partitions, one with my MAC OS, the new Bootcamp partition, and a drive called X: that was created when the past install got interrupted.
I've tried erasing the partition in bootcamp over and over, but I can't erase it, even though Mac OS tells me my drive now consists of a single volume. Do I need to format my whole drive? Do I need to install OSX? Will I lose all my applications and data? In case you need it, here's some info:

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a fall 2008 model macbook, 2.4 GHz 4GB ram, etc. I run windows XP SP3 on bootcamp, with a fat32 partition. I believe the external harddrive I run games from is also fat32 formatted.
I've had enough problems with transferring files over 4GB that i've decided to attempt to convert from fat32 to ntfs. I'd like to do it while on my windows partition, with the CONVERT C: /FS:NTFS in the command prompt. What precautions should I take before I attempt this? How difficult will it be to also convert my external drive to ntfs? Will anything be deleted in the process? Will I still be able to use parallels?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am converting from a Windows system to a Mac. The mail client on the Windows box is Outlook 2003. The mail on the windows box had been previously stored in a number of PST files using POP3. The recommended procedure to convert to the Mac is to first in Outlook 2003 convert from POP3 to IMAP. While in the middle of this procedure I got a message that the PST file that Outlook 2003 creates for the local IMAP store is full. Further, it is 97-2002 format file rather than the new type used as the default in Outlook 2003. In any case, I need to get the rest of the mail converted. Another issue is that viewing specific folders in the IMAP store on the Windows box results in an initial display of items, followed by the window being cleared, and the folder size function showing that the folder is empty. However, attaching to the IMAP store on the server from the Mac Mail program still shows the contents, so I think this is an anomaly of the poor implementation of IMAP in Outlook 2003. What do I need to do to get the rest of the POP3 mail into IMAP?
View 2 Replies View RelatedII discovered a very interesting anomaly with my mid-2009 13". I plugged my ipad in to syncs and charge, and the ipad said, "not charging." some research on the net yielded information that the iPad requires a higher powered USB port, which all late model macbooks have... All except mine apparently.....
So, I tried the other USB port, and low and behold, the ipad started charging. So the question is, is this the design of the MBP, or do I perhaps have a sub-optimal USB port?
I have created a partition using Bootcamp of 50GB. In hindsight, I believe I need more space. Is there a way to increase the size now or do I need to go back and re-do the whole process?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is the first time I have created an Excel file on my own MacBook Air, and while doing so, I noticed that five Excel files were created somehow on my desktop, with file names such as "B958D530." I cannot move them, open them, get info about them, or delete them. What are these and how do I get rid of them?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a slideshow DVD on a new MacBook. I want to burn it to a DVD, but my MacBook doesn't burn DVDs. I have an Emac (10.2.8) that can burn DVDs. Is there a way I can hook up the MacBook and eMac to burn an IDVD project created on a MacBook. I can't just do the project on iDVD on my emac as it's an old version of IDVD that doesn't support the transitions I'm using.

I downloaded a bunch of pictures from my wedding which were saved into a .zip folder. Every time I click on the folder to "unzip" it a duplicate folder is created. I've tried searching for the unzipped folder that people have said would be created after double clicking/unzipping the folder, but it's nowhere to be found.

I'm seeing a Raptor on sale at Best Buy for $160 Model: WD1500AHFDRTL. When I go to Dell online I see two Raptors for sale. One is WD1500AHFDRTL for $286, and the other is WD1500ADFD for $219.00. So what is the difference in models? One has a window into the hard drive, the other doesn't?

X5 seems to be working just fine BTW, but I created a simple vector logo tonight and exported the file as a GIF as it will be incorporated into another graphic on my iMac. Anyway, I created a shared folder on my mac's desktop, and when I try to drag the file from the PC to the mac it says I need permission?
