I was messing around with my desktop drive icons and noticed you can't give your 'Macintosh HD' partition a colored label, when I right clicked my bootcamp partition, the colored label options were available, so I gave it a color. But when I remove it, whenever the partition get's unmounted (at shutdown or manually trough disk utility), OS X throws a kernel panic. So now I have a permanent label attached to my bootcamp drive.

View 5 Replies View RelatedOne day I inserted a CD in my Mac, nothing popped up. So I went into my mac hardware list and clicked on "Disk Burning". I get the following message. "No disk burning device was found. If the device is external, make sure it's connected and turned on." I currently am using a mid-2007 Macbook Pro installed with OS X 10.6.8, It is an Intel Core Duo. I have run Disk Utility and it told me to insert the installation disk and run Disk Utility from there.
I have tried rebooting the computer while holding C and nothing happened. I think the computer can not see the CD Drive so therefore, it will not load the disk. Also, I have considered doing a complete wipe of the hard drive and reinstalling but I have programs (Adobe, Parallels, etc,) that I do not have the disks for. If I was forced to do a full re-install, how could I save these programs from being wiped out and then re-install them cleanly back?

I have been using Titanium to burn DVD's. It usually takes about the length of the actually DVD to finish the burning process. Is this normal length or is there a faster program for burning DVD
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know a quick way how to copy pre-recorded/purchased DVD's to my iMac's hard drive, so I can watch via my Apple TV? In the past I've inserted the DVD and it's appeared on the desktop, I then choose to copy it, and managed to paste it into iTunes, but it takes at least an hour to copy to the hard drive. Any ideas? I've tried Mac the ripper, but wasn't sure how to get that to work,

I'm fairly new to mac so your patience is appreciated.
When I transfer an avi movie onto a usb flash drive from my PC it works fine in my Divx player but I seem to have a problem when putting the same movie from my mac onto the usb key. The Divx player does not read the usb key?
Also, which "forat" should I use in the disk utility when erasing (formatting) the flash drive (i.e. MS DOS (FAT) ... MAC OS Extended ...) ?
how to tell my macbook pro (tiger os x 10.4) to read my new Lacie external dvd/cd-burning drive in order to burn a dvd, rather than the current internal apple one (which came with the mac upon purchasing and recently went kaput)? btw, I CAN see this Lacie's name-path when I go into the apple-icon's "about this mac/more info". Then, I can see the lacie drive's name-path either by accessing the Hardware's option of "FireWire" or "Disc Burning".

When zeroing out my HD, do I select the one that says "Toshiba MKxxxxxxx" or the one that says "Macintosh HD"? What is the difference?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy friend was thinking of getting a new iMac, the only thing he does not like about them is the slot loading drive. He burns around 5 cd's/DVD's a day, a stack of 100 cd's does not last long with him. He does a lot of movie burning to watch it on his tv and wonders if after a year of tons of burning will the slot loading drive die out. He does not want to buy an external DVD burner as well which is what i use.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAs I wait for my Apple Extreme Base Station, I was wondering if it would make sense to create two different SSID networks. One Mixed b/g for 2.4GHz devices and another one solely for 5GHz. I know my ATV2 supports 802.11n in 5GHz. As I go down my list of devices in my house, I can't tell if my MacBook Pros support the 5GHz. Both MacBook Pros are Mid 2010 models.Â
The reason for creating two different networks is that the AEBS downgrades your network based on the lowest device (i.e. b/g would be forced on a n device if such device connects to your network).
I recently purchased mba 2011 (256gb with i5 ulti), and incoming release of Adobe CS6, I would like to ask if my machine is capable of running CS6? In company I will be given a mac mini 2011 and at home I have a macbook air 2011.Â
The Photoshop CS6 mentions they need: Mac OSMulticore Intel processor with 64-bit support-Mac OS X v10.6.8 or v10.71GB of RAM2GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)1024x768 (1280x800 recommended) resolution display with 16-bit color and 512MB of VRAMOpenGL 2.0–capable system?

Would it be possible to install Windows (7) for BootCamp from a USB Flash Drive instead of burning it to a DVDROM?Installing Windows (Vista) from a Flash Drive [URL]is possible and potentially faster than installing from DVD or ethernet. I'm assuming this should work for Windows 7 as well.So the question that remains is if BootCamp can boot? install from? USB. (I've never tried BootCamp, so I'm not familiar with the process of even starting an install.)

It stating that the new Macbook aluminum Montevina chipset appears to support up to 8gb.
Is this true??
I have an i7 chip and was wondering if the 13" MBP would support it if I popped it in there. Two other questions:
1) Is this release Apple's final update of the MBPs before September (when I go back to school)?
2) Is there a way to get a double or triple external monitor set up with the new MBPs without dropping $200 on a DualHead2Go?
For those unaware of what Hybrid SLI is, it allows you to use the integrated and discrete video cards that the higher-end MacBook Pro's come with together simultaneously to get you better performance in graphic-intensive programs and games. I saw an option under the "High Performance" power plan settings that enables Hybrid SLI, but that disappeared after installing the Boot Camp drivers. I found out through a quick Google search that it would be easy to bring the option back, but does the MacBook Pro really support Hybrid SLI now and do you think it would be safe to use it on the MacBook Pro? Hybrid SLI could definitely add a few frames per second when playing games, so it would be a nice addition considering how every MacBook Pro has a mid-range video card.

The CD itself came out without any problem but the label is still stuck in my superdrive.

Howdy all, just been scouring the web but can't find anything on this. I have a late 2008 aluminium MB 2.4ghz. I currently have a 500gb HD but want to increase this. Is there a max size/capacity that my model supports or can I go nuts and say put a 1TB inside with no dramas?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am playing with my new MBP and wanted to know if iCHAT supports talking to buddies from Yahoo Messenger too, just like it does for AIM? I got the AIM one to work, and it says something about something called Bonjour (?) but nothing about Yahoo? Please let me know how to set this up as possible, that way I won't need separate programs for AIM and Yahoo Messenger. PS- Does windows media player have a program for MACs? If not, whats the best program similar to Windows Media Player that I can use to view all the same video types as that?
