The CD itself came out without any problem but the label is still stuck in my superdrive.
Do any of the MBP's contain a drive that supports burning a label on a DVD with the laser?

I was doing some cleanup on my macbook pro, deleting old log files and suddenly the system froze. I turned off and then on the laptop and to my surprise, the Mac partition doesn't show up on bootcamp menu, and I'm taken directly to Windows.I tried booting from the install disk and repairing the disk with Disk Utility, and although all my data seems to be all right (I can see all of it from Windows), and Disk Utility did not find any errors, when I reboot (while holding the option key) only Windows shows up.

In just about any program, if I leave program running, close lid, come back in about 30 minutes, my screen will be black. I can see cursor, but when I move mouse it will "erase" some of the black screen. I've seen similar forum postings, but in those the screen is locking up -- mine does not do that. I've taken in to Genius Bar, they've run diagnostics and found no problems.Â
I then have to restart, but in doing so it will bring up the Guest login screen, with a completely different wallpaper than my default.Â
Also, there, at times, is a "hissing" sound that no one can diagnose. At first we thought it was caused by a game in which there is the sound of a waterfall, but I'm now hearing it even when the game is not being played. Super drive has been checked and no problem found.
Disk utility does not always work when trying to erase free space... I have 50 gigs of free space that I can not retrieve...  I do not want to have erase my entire SSD like I did a month ago to clean up deleted files...

A friend suggested backing up only my necessary files on my Lion based MBP, wiping the disc clean (erasing), and then installing Maverick. He says it will clean out any old junk and make my MBP run really fast. Â

After backing up my data and then swiping my hard drive using Disk Utility, my OS seems to have been uninstalled as well. Is there a way to recover the deleted information and go back to the last working configuration? I'm on a MBP IC2D 2.16 w/ Lion.

When i watch an episode of a tv show or a movie i label it with a color so that i know that i have seen it. There are some files where when i right click a file and and go down to where the 7 colors are they are all grayed out. I am not sure if this is a bug or if certain files cant be labeled.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI set up my Macbook to share to my lowly PC, that was fine, but now I get a bar that says Shared Folder when I access the hard drive in my macbook from my macbook. Its incredibly irritating. I tried to 'fix' it but all I did was disallow permissions to my HD and was unable to access anything, had to re-install OSX to get it to work.
I did a search of the forums, but all I got was how to set up to share a folder, I got that part working fine. This is a picture of my Macbooks hd in Finder this is frustrating me, If i was on a PC something this simple would be easy, but Im still learning the ins and outs of OSX

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am tearing my hair out! Apple Address book is so close to having a workable solution to mass label printing.
Does anybody know how to print address labels from a group in the address book.
I know you can create templates pages for avery labels ect but it will only allow you to print the name rather than select a "nick name"
Any new ideas? I have started to dabble in the apple scripting side of this issues so I am open to suggestions... really anything saves having to write out 3000 addresses.
I recently bought a MacBook Pro, and I used Migration Assistant to move my folders over to the new MacBook.
When I tried to label the folders by colour, however, I realised that that option is greyed out! New folders that I create can be colour labelled, but not the imported ones. How do i colour label these imported folders?
I have pages, keynote and numbers. I cant find a label maker. Wife does not wanna print right on the envelopes She want labels. I am probably missing something real easy.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was messing around with my desktop drive icons and noticed you can't give your 'Macintosh HD' partition a colored label, when I right clicked my bootcamp partition, the colored label options were available, so I gave it a color. But when I remove it, whenever the partition get's unmounted (at shutdown or manually trough disk utility), OS X throws a kernel panic. So now I have a permanent label attached to my bootcamp drive.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new iMac and am unable to use the program iDress any longer with Snow Leopard to make address labels. I guess they are no longer in business because I am unable to contact them. I am interested in address labels and know that I can do this thru AddressBook but with that program am unable to make a page of the same name address labels. (ex. my name for return labels) I also want to be able to merge with AddressBook for Christmas lists etc. Any recommendations as to a good software program. I understand that I can do this thru iWork (Pages) but haven't figured that out or found where to download the right Avery templates for the Mac.

Anyone know of a way to add a Spouse's name to a printed address label form?
I have the Spouse names listed in fields, but there doesn't seem to be an option to add that to an address label.
Do you know of a simple program that could do this upon an export of cards from Address Book?
I know I could change everyone's first name to both "first & spouse" and then change it back after I print the labels. That's the solution I found from the Apple help pages.
