This isn't directly related to macbooks but if I want to use the bluetooth built into my computer to connect to my non bluetooth printer can I buy any USB bluetooth dongle to plug into the printer ( Kodak all in one 5300) or do I need some specific kind? All the ones I look at don't mention anything about printers just connection between computers and phones.

MacBook :: Connect 2 Bluetooth Devices At The Same Time?

If there's actually anyone who uses bluetooth headphones and a bluetooth mouse at the same time....

do you experience any choppy lag on the mouse when you have both connected?

the audio seems to not have any issues, but the mouse seems to skip alittle bit hear and there. its not unbearable and it's still usable, but you do notice it. it works like normal when obviously the headphones are disconnected.

MacBook Air :: Connect To Non-existent Bluetooth Keyboard?

My MBA has started giving an error that it cannot find a bluetooth keyboard everytime it boots up. The keyboard and trackpad on the MBA are not working at all now. I have never added a bluetooth keyboard and don't have one. I am now unable to login and change any settings or disable bluetooth.

I am not sure what changed for this to start happening. Is there any way to disable bluetooth with hardwre buttons?

MacBook Pro :: FW400 Port Not Recognizing Any Peripherals

Aug 27, 2010

I recently bought a used (early 2008) MBPro 15" 2.5 SR to do some video editing. Unfortunately it will not recognize my Sony DV camera, or an external HD connected via FW400 or my 12" PB booted in target disk mode. The camera and the hard drive both mount instantly on my 12" PB and a friends 15" PB. Also, when I check the Firewire status under System Profiler all it says is: Warning: Unable to list FireWire devices (in red). This is regardless of what is connected to the port or if nothing is connected to the port. I have tried rebooting the PRAM and changing the Firewire port's network preference to OFF as recommended by this post: [URL]

OS X :: Finding Way To Connect Fake Bluetooth As USB?

Feb 25, 2009

What I wanted to know was if there is some kind of way of connecting a phone to a computer via bluetooth, but make the computer think it is connected via USB? Like, if it could have a virtual USB device which comes from the phone via bluetooth. I know it sounds stupid and useless, but my phone's USB connection is broken. I can iSync via Bluetooth but I would like to use software like Salling Media Sync or doubleTwist to transfer and sync music, but neither have a bluetooth option.

I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to my problem. I just found my old microsoft wireless notebook optical mouse 4000, it comes with a usb plug in that says its a blue tooth adaptor. I hate having anything like that plugged in, especially as my MBP has built in bluetooth. Has anyone managed to connect these microsoft mice via the built in bluetooth? My issue is that every time I restart I have to go to settings and re connect again. Is there a way of automating this or creating a shortcut for the doc etc. I just need it to be simple for my wife to connect them each day.

Desktops :: 27"iMac Bluetooth Devices Won't Connect?

Jul 28, 2010

A few days ago the wireless mouse stopped working, and today the same with the keyboard. No new devices I know of that could cause interference. I set up my mouse on my wife's mac mini computer across the hall tonight. and it worked perfectly. My mouse and keyboard seem to want to connect, little lights flash, and sometimes my computer says they are connected for a few seconds, but no tracking or response to typing. Repaired prefs, brand new lithium batteries, no go.

Does anyone have an idea before I drag the 50 lb beast down to the Apple store?

OS X Yosemite :: IPhone 5 will Not Connect To IMac - Bluetooth Connection Is Not Available

Dec 3, 2014

The iPhone is recognized but I can not get a connection. It says  Bluetooth connection is not available. When I look at the network prefs, The "Bluetooth PAN" says not connected and will not connect. They are on the same router and my Bluetooth mouse works fine. I simply can not get them to pair. Advanced for Bluetooth PAN has to configure using DCHP for IPv4 and Automatically for IPv6. Nothing else is on that sheet. This is a late 2012 iMac. New iPhone 5 (warranty replacement). Phone shows it's on my network. Checked computer and it's on my network.

Mac Pro :: Can't Connect To Bluetooth Keyboard To Complete Initial Setup

Jun 28, 2014

I have a new Mac Pro which won't connect to the apple wireless keyboard, this is slightly different to the 'usual' bluetooth connection issues in that being its the first time powered on I need to go through the sign on and initial setup procedures before I can even get to the bluetooth settings but can't do so because the keyboard won't connect, catch 22 if you will.

The first screen I encounter when powering on the Mac Pro is an image to turn on the keyboard and mouse, the mouse is fine and I can navigate through the options until a entry is required from the keyboard such as computer name, wifi password etc then I'm stuck.

Is there anyway to reset the keyboard so it 'discovers' the mac?

Applications :: Bluetooth Printer Wont Connect Through Device Assistant

Jan 13, 2009

I just bought an HP Photosmart C5580 printer without Bluetooth capabilities. Trying to connect it to my MacBook Pro OS X 10.5.6. When I try to set up the printer through the Bluetooth "Set up Bluetooth Device" function, I select "printer" under the list of options. Once I hit "continue", the Set Up Assistant automatically closes, and all that pops up is the Print & Fax System Preference Box. It lists the printer there, but won't allow me to do anything to actually connect the printer.

What should pop up is another box, asking me to select the printer. Under Bluetooth Preferences, it says that no devices are set up. However, it is clearly recognizing that the printer exists because when I look under "Browse Device" it is listed there. Yet it's clearly not connected since double clicking on the new listed printer only gives the message, "this device does not have the necessary services."

In the Bluetooth Setup Assistant the macbook sees the iPhone 3G, but they don't connect after I accept the connect on the iPhone 3G. The codes on the Macbook and iPhone are the same and, therefore, should connect.

I've searched the Apple Discussions (support) but there is no answer there.

Mac Pro :: USB Or Peripherals - Screen Hub / Main Unit Intermittent Fault?

Apr 14, 2009

This is something I've been wondering for a long time. I seem to have a lot of screen-related issues with the Pros that I sit in front of in the main. Brightness controls going haywire displays not turning on, etc. There is also the odd attached USB device lockup, but I'd been putting this down to the devices themselves and the occasional, app-level instability of Leopard. More recently though, I've been seeing a pattern that's leading me to suspect the Pro's more than the peripherals. Is there a documented case of possible USB hub connection issues in (fully patched) 2008 Pros? The most frequent issue is monitors not behaving as expected when the system is booted until the monitors themselves are unplugged from power. There are also less frequent but present problems where iPods lock up, keyboards stop working, etc. I can't really abstract the problem down to an OS issue or a hardware issue, but the need for me to unplug the monitors seems to indicate that there is some sort of USB initialisation issue - as with the other minor problems I experience with other monitor-connected USB peripherals. Since I only use multimonitor environments as far as my Pros are concerned, all USB connections are usually made from the backs of the screens. So the big question is is this a screen USB hub fault, or a main-unit intermittent fault? All of the monitors I'm using have been to Applecare for one reason or another, although I'm not sure if they check everything in these repairs.

Can anyone else shed more light on this issue? It's pretty hard to replicate reliably and it's not been something I can go to Apple with any degree of certainty, yet the little minihoops I have with this problem (and oh so many other Apple issues, but that's by the by) irritate me immensely in comparison to my rock-solid, near-zero-such-issue, non-Apple environments which I also use daily.
