Jan 9, 2009Is this a known issue with the mac pro or do i just have the wrong wires connected?
I've got Wire 1 connected to bluetooth and wires 2 and 3 connected to the airport card.

Apr 14, 2009I bought my Mac Pro as a refurb from Apple, but it didn't come with the wireless card built in. This didn't bother me because at my old apartment my computer was near the router so I just wired it up by ethernet. I just moved into a new place and my computer isn't within router distance and I don't want to run a bunch of cable. My boss gave me a card to plug into Apple wifi card spot and OSX found the card and showed some airport info, but it didn't find any networks and if I run the Airport Utility it says it can't find an airport card. So I assume it's not compatible. What are my options? Oh yeah, I found this on ebay. Sound reliable? [URL:....]

Apr 5, 2008I just purchase a refurb 3.0 Ghz 8-core "Clovertown" Mac Pro off of Apple. However it does not come with either an aiport card or bluetooth card. Can anyone help assist me as to which card I would need for this? Does a standard USB bluetooth adapter work, and with the wireless card , this one from apple says its not compatible with the mac pro.

Hardware :: Windows 7 And Apple Wireless Wont Connect To The Bluetooth?
Apr 21, 2009I have a new mac pro (nehalem) and i installed windows 7 after a couple of updates from both apple disk and from windows itself everythin seems to be working fine. Even bluetooth will see my devices ... But it wont connect to the bluetooth keyboard or mouse. it will just stay at "Connecting to device..." is there anything i should be doing that I am not?
The keyboard is discoverable the mouse is as well just when i press connect they dont ....
Mac Pro :: Install Wireless Airport Card
Feb 4, 2008I would like to install an internal airport card in my Mac pro (2008) as I didn't order the wireless BTO option and the USB adapter I tried instead didn't satisfy me. When I asked for the card at an apple reseller they said to me that this upgrade would cost a lot of money because they haven't only to order the card but they have to install the antennas as well. I went home and checked the interiors of my machine and saw three antenna cables (labeled with 1,2,3) which seem ready to be connected to an airport card. So I don't know if I have to believe this antenna thing. Are the antennas already preinstalled in every Mac Pro or do I really have to bring the whole computer to the store?

Oct 21, 2006I just got a 17" Powerbook G4 1.5 Ghz. My friend that sold it to me said that her wireless always had a really weak signal but in recent time, unless she was in the same room as the router it was really hard to get a decent connection. She said she took it to an Apple store but her Apple care was expired and they said they'd have to send it out for 5-7 days. Today I just tried it out at home, where I normally (as well as everyone else in the house) have full signal from our router, this computer gets a bar or two max.
I was adding in some more RAM to it so I figured I'd take it the rest of the way apart. So, in doing so carefully because I could not find a diagram at all that matched this computer, I found that there is not a Airport Extreme card in the computer at all. Is that right? Is the wireless built in now? (or maybe for that year). Is this a common problem that the signal fades?
IMac :: Wireless Printing Using Airport Card?
Dec 7, 2009just converted and purchased a 21.5" iMac this weekend, he took advantage of that rebate offer on printers and picked up the black HP wi-fi printer. Anyhow he does not have an airport extreme or any type of wireless router since his iMac is right next to his modem, so he is using Ethernet.
So I tried setting up a wireless network using his internal airport card in his iMac and this worked out great i enabled internet sharing and printer sharing. For some reason when i try to connect his printer with his network it says that the network is not within reach even though the printer is right next to the iMac. Am I doing something wrong? is there something I'm missing? I know the wi-fi network is working properly because he is able to connect with his iphone and I was able to connect with my MBP.

Jun 11, 2009A friend of mine gave me a iMac a couple of weeks ago. i upgraded the RAM to 1GB and I bought a Airiport Card (802.11b)
I plugged in the card and attached the antenna to the card and tuned on the mac. But when i try to find a wifi network (mine for example) it won't connect. Im using a DIR-655 Dlink router. i have mixed mode emabled (802.11b/g/n) and WPA-Personal Encryption (AES Cypher)
Why is it not connecting?
PS the message i get when i connect is "There was an error connecting to network [network name]"

The bluetooth/airport extreme card for my PCI-e Dualcore 2.0ghz G5. I'm happy to install it myself. However I am leaving to go back to the UK on jan 31st, and sweetwater don't actually stock the item, and it will take a while to get it to me unless they expedite it from Apple and charge an extra $42 or so, which is too much for me. Anyone know who might actually stock the item and be able to send it out quickly?

Jun 10, 2009I'm lucky if I can get more than five feet away from my Linksys wireless-G router before the Airport Extreme says it's getting no bars. My son also has an Airport Extreme card in his iMac; connection is always iffy, even though his computer is barely four feet from the router.
Do I need a wireless-N router? Is there no backwards compatibility here (e.g. shouldn't a wireless-G router be able to work with wireless-N Airport Extreme cards?)

Sep 27, 2006I bought a MacPro two weeks ago and have just taken delivery of the bluetooth module and Airport Extreme card design specifically for the Mac Pro. I've put the bluetooth card in and connected up the cable that has "BT" label on it. I thought it would be same for Airport Card but there's 3 cables to choose from labelled intuitively "1" "2" and "3". All with the same connectors on the end and all taped up together. The Airport Extreme card requires 2xcables to be connected. Anybody out there have a MacPro with Airport pre-installed and can take the side off and have a look at their config for me please? They are supposed to be a service center install hence don't come with a manual, they refer you to the AppleCare Service Source Website.

Oct 11, 2006I have a Linksys wireless router set up (WRT54G) and my PC desktop and laptop connect fine to the internet with wire and wireless. I installed an airport card in our Power Mac G4 but this cannot detect my wireless network. I have it connected now with an ethernet cable running through the kitchen but want to get rid of the cable.
Is there a compatibility issue with airport and a Linksys wireless network? The Mac recognizes the airport card so I hope that means that it is good. (I got it from eBay used) This Mac is the farthest away from the router so I guess my next try is to see if I can move the router a little bit closer.
I am a newbie to wireless so possibly I have a setting wrong. I did tell the router the mac addresses of all of the computers that I want to connect.
Any advice?

1)after installing the card, the mac took a very long time to start up, I tested to make sure it was the card: everytime I started it up without the card, it did the normal thing, but with the card, it took a long time
2)after finally starting up, nowhere can i find where/how to configure the wireless. When I go to configure the network, it has all options, but the airport card option is not usable.

Dec 25, 2009on my new second hand ibook the wireless is really poor, 50% of the time it cant even find it, im using a bt homehub which on the pc it can run at about 6mb/s but the mac runs below 1 although last night it strangly went up to 5 for a miniute or two, i have tried making sure the airport card is in properly and the connector i assume is the ariel?? seems to not plug in very well? a little loose ? do i need a new aiport card?

Clicking "Start" then "connect to" and then "show all connections" and then the name for my Airport network, a "choose a wireless network" screen comes up, a strength meter (all bars on) displays, and a reminder that a network key is required. Clicking "connect" on this screen shows a "wireless network connection" thingy -- but it never actually connects.

I also have a PC laptop and that can connect to my home's wirless internet no problem. My G5 simply cannot connect or even sense my 2wire901 home network, but it can see other networks in my home area. I only managed to connect to my own home network once! I properly installed them, since the computer notes the AirPort Extreme card in the "About Mac" menu. There are a couple of wireless networks near my home and the computer doesn't detect any of them. I've checked out previous forum discussions around this issue, tried some suggested troubleshooting to no avail. Can I presume the AirPort Extreme card is defective? It detects absolutely no signal from the other networks around here. Could the WEP password length of our router have anything to do with it? Do I need to download a driver to activate the AirPort Extreme Card? Could upgrading to a different operating system make it work?

Mar 31, 2012I have an aiport extreme card in my emac. It was installed around a year and a half ago and has workd fine until yesterday. it suddenly says that it is not configured. It also says the antenna cable is unplugged and that it is turned off. I tried to trouble shoot it with internet connection assistant which says cable is unplugged and aiport is off. I have taken the card out and reinstalled it and reattached the cable mutiple times to no avail. And yes, I know how hard it is to push in.

Lexmark tech support says the issue is with comcast router. Comcast says issue is mac related because both macs fail to print while HP machine works fine....
