OS X :: Bluetooth: Apple Wireless Keyboard, And Magic Mouse?

Nov 27, 2010

I was thinking of purchasing an Apple Wireless Keyboard, and an Apple Magic Mouse. I'm absolutely sure it'll be a wise investment, and an awesome Christmas gift. My current Mighty Mouse is quite horrible, I don't even have the ability to scroll up. Of course I don't bother to waste my time cleaning it. Oh well, they don't have a scroll bar for nothing.

The only problem is that I'm not sure if my Mac has the proper capabilities to enable usage for the wireless perpherials I'm planning to buy. This is somewhat how my Mac looks, though I'm running on Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 (I purchased the disk). I believe my computer has Bluetooth, there's an Icon for it in System Preferences. In my System Profiler, it also has a Bluetooth tab (here's the information is shows, I just cropped out some info. at the top, and my name).

How do I know if my Mac is set for these two items?Looking forward to your responses.

Hardware :: Apple Wireless Keyboard But Bluetooth Power Management Kills It?

Mar 15, 2009

Sorry to mention the 'W' word, but wondering if anyone has had this issue.

Basically Apple wireless keyboard works perfectly in Windows, but the Bluetooth power management kills it after just a few seconds, which is extremely irritating. It works after you've 'woken it up' again though.

I can't find anywhere to change this, and no joy with a forum search / Google.

OS X :: 10.5.7 - Apple Wireless Keyboard And Mighty Mouse Both Loose Bluetooth Connection?

Jun 1, 2009

Ever since I updated from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7, I'm now loosing my Apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse bluetooth connection with my MacBook Pro. At least once a day, my keyboard and mouse both loose connection. There is no lag going on before it happens, it just happens suddenly. I can get connection back to both my mouse and keyboard by simply using the trackpad to turn bluetooth off then on again from the menu bar. Up until last week this was happening on my 17"/2.6GHz/4GB previous gen MacBook Pro. I have now sold that and as I'm sitting here setting up my new 17" uMBP, I just lost keyboard and mouse connection. Grrr. Obviously it's not my machine and obviously it's not my keyboard or mouse as they both loose connection at the same time - it's 10.5.7 I'm using airport wireless 'n' 5GHz only. I also have bluetooth enabled on my iPhone, but always have - and never had issues when running 10.5.6 (or earlier). I have searched here but haven't found anyone else mention this exact problem. Strange. I would have thought that it would be common now that I've experienced it with two MacBook Pro's running 10.5.7. Can I go back to 10.5.6 somehow without having to rebuild?

Windows On Mac :: Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard & Mouse Keeps Disconnecting

Jan 13, 2009

I installed Windows 7 on iMac 20 inch. All went smoothly and after lot of trail and errors, was able to recognize my apple wireless keyboard and mouse. All well till here. Now the problem is that these two devices keeps disconnecting very very often. For mouse, atleast i can move around and after few clicks, it starts working, but keyboard just doesn't work at all. I have to switch off the keyboard and then switch it back on to get it working for few more minutes. Is there a way I can resolve this? I've installed Bluetooth drivers from bootcamp 2.1 update for vista.

OS X :: Apple Products Won't Connect To Wireless?

Jul 15, 2009

First off, I am sure to be VERY computer challenged compared to most of you. I apologize for that in advance. Here is the problem. We have been a PC based family for years and years. We just started to go Mac. My son got an iMac and my wife an iTouch. We have a wireless internet network in the house. The wireless is set up w/ Lynksis (I don't know if that makes a difference for my question.) I have connected to this network with more than one computer and more than one laptop. I have never had a problem. My son's iMac (airport) picks up the network and seems to be connected but can't do any more. It cannot connect to the internet. My wife's iTouch is the same. Our PC based computer and laptop will connect though. My son's iMac DOES, however, occasionally connect to the internet using the neighbors VERY weak signal. My wife's iTouch will connect on other networks (i.e. Panera Bread's) so I kno that works as well.

Hardware :: Using Apple Bluetooth Keyboard On Windows?

Sep 11, 2009

I've been looking into buying an Apple Bluetooth Wireless keyboard (MB167LL/A) for use with my new Macbook. I'm going to be using an external monitor and mouse for more of a desktop setup while I'm at home.

But I wanted to know if the Bluetooth keyboard will still be compatible with my computer when I am running Windows Vista on my mac? I realize that not all of the buttons will be perfect (aka the F keys), much as I'm used to when using my laptop keyboard, but will it work fine for normal tasks and connect correctly?

Windows On Mac :: Apple ALum Wireless Keyboard Windows XP Drivers?

Apologies for the lingo but im quite frustrated. it takes apple yrs to fix one problem but only for another to appear.

I already gave up on Realtek doing something about their crappy sound quality (despite releasing a new driver every two weeks) and the mighty mouse freezing after hibernation unless u press the left button like a man possesed!!

Windows On Mac :: Boot Into Windows 7 RC From OSX W/ Apple Wireless Keyboard?

May 6, 2009

As far as I understand there is a bug that stops Windows 7 or Vista from showing up in the Start Up disk options in the preference settings.

So the only option is to go through the boot menu selection but unfortunately I am using the Apple wireless keyboard and holding the option key down doesn't bring up the boot selection screen. Is there anything I can do ... or am I forced to use a USB keyboard for now ?

For the record I have the Wireless Keyboard and Mighty mouse paired and working in Windows 7 ( The keyboard has occasional lag from the first keystroke input but is fine from then ) Its just that I get no response from keystrokes during boot up.

Software :: Using Bluetooth Headset/non-apple Bluetooth?

Sep 1, 2005

Hey guys..>I'm trying to set up my jabra bt200 bluetooth headset to work with my mac (osx 10.4.2, 15" powerbook 1.67ghz)...and I can get it to pair, but it won't stay connected for more than a split second. this is a problem i've seen a few people have, looking around on various forums and stuff, and i was trying various solutions when i decided to try doing a firmware upgrade on the internal bluetooth module. I downloaded the firmware updater (1.2), tried to run it and it came up with the following error:

"This computer does not have an Apple Bluetooth module installed. It cannot be updated by this application."

Why would my Powerbook not have an Apple Bluetooth module?!?!?! It's got bluetooth installed, it's internal, but looking at the system profile, it says it's the manufacturer is Cambridge Silicon Radio. So is this normal or what? Is the firmware upgrade even going to help me out in the end? Just to clarify...the powerbook came with bt installed factory...it's not something added by me!

I've tested the diagnostics and it confirms that my mac can connect to the network, but it cannot connect to the internet. The network uses WPA personal and it has a 19-aphanumeric passphrase.

*Also - would it be possible for me to extend the wireless range (and make it possible to browse the web) if I used my own 2wire wireless modem to connect to the netgear wgt624?
