MacBook Pro :: How To Connect A Second Bluetooth Trackpad
Jun 6, 2012
I bought two track pads to use with my Lion OS on my MBP. One for the home and one for the office. The first one I set up was flawless. When I tried to repeate with the second one it would not connect. I tried to rename the first and the new name was accepted in the preference list but the details kept the old name.

This isn't directly related to macbooks but if I want to use the bluetooth built into my computer to connect to my non bluetooth printer can I buy any USB bluetooth dongle to plug into the printer ( Kodak all in one 5300) or do I need some specific kind? All the ones I look at don't mention anything about printers just connection between computers and phones.

I was using my laptop as usual and the keyboard just stopped working, tried the trackpad and it was also gone. Used an USB mouse to get to preferences and no trackpas is being recognized by the laptop. I wanted to activate bluetooth to use an external keyboard but no bluetooth device is recognized inside neither.
Rebooted, powered off & on, plugged the MagSafe connector, tried without power and then used the three-prong power cable plugged it into a grounded outlet. No change, keyboard, trackpad and bluetooth are dead.
This laptop never showed any issues at all and, as I mentioned, I was working as usual with it.

I have a new macbook pro and a set of computer speakers that are a few years old. I can plug the speakers into my headphone jack with no problem.
I would like to setup the speakers wirelessly and use a bluetooth receiver to transmit my sound from my macbook pro to the speakers.
I was looking at this product... [URL]
Will this be possible?

If there's actually anyone who uses bluetooth headphones and a bluetooth mouse at the same time....
do you experience any choppy lag on the mouse when you have both connected?
the audio seems to not have any issues, but the mouse seems to skip alittle bit hear and there. its not unbearable and it's still usable, but you do notice it. it works like normal when obviously the headphones are disconnected.

My MBA has started giving an error that it cannot find a bluetooth keyboard everytime it boots up. The keyboard and trackpad on the MBA are not working at all now. I have never added a bluetooth keyboard and don't have one. I am now unable to login and change any settings or disable bluetooth.
I am not sure what changed for this to start happening. Is there any way to disable bluetooth with hardwre buttons?

I have noticed a fair amount of interference/white noise coming from my speakers whenever I touch/scroll on my Magic Trackpad. If I use the Magic Mouse it does the same thing, so has to be related to bluetooth.

What I wanted to know was if there is some kind of way of connecting a phone to a computer via bluetooth, but make the computer think it is connected via USB? Like, if it could have a virtual USB device which comes from the phone via bluetooth. I know it sounds stupid and useless, but my phone's USB connection is broken. I can iSync via Bluetooth but I would like to use software like Salling Media Sync or doubleTwist to transfer and sync music, but neither have a bluetooth option.

I have a new Jabra bluetooth headset and hoped I could pair it with my iMac. Nothing works. I see other colleague's desktops and devices (including smartphones) that show up in Bluetooth setup. But after two weeks of trying everything I could think of, I've failed.

I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to my problem. I just found my old microsoft wireless notebook optical mouse 4000, it comes with a usb plug in that says its a blue tooth adaptor. I hate having anything like that plugged in, especially as my MBP has built in bluetooth. Has anyone managed to connect these microsoft mice via the built in bluetooth? Or am I going to have to stump up the money for the magic mouse?

I just bought some Parrot Hi-Fi bluetooth speakers. (they are fantastic by the way)
Connected them via bluetooth on my iMac without issue. I then went to the system settings and selected use headset and its all good. (Sound Great)
My issue is that every time I restart I have to go to settings and re connect again. Is there a way of automating this or creating a shortcut for the doc etc. I just need it to be simple for my wife to connect them each day.

A few days ago the wireless mouse stopped working, and today the same with the keyboard. No new devices I know of that could cause interference. I set up my mouse on my wife's mac mini computer across the hall tonight. and it worked perfectly. My mouse and keyboard seem to want to connect, little lights flash, and sometimes my computer says they are connected for a few seconds, but no tracking or response to typing. Repaired prefs, brand new lithium batteries, no go.
Does anyone have an idea before I drag the 50 lb beast down to the Apple store?

I have a BlackBerry Curve 9300 and have been trying to make use of the tethering option I just purchased through T-Mobile...Unfortunately, no one has been able to help me resolve my problem with all my phone calls to T-Mobile's call center as well as BlackBerry's. Before, somehow, I was able to enter information about my phone on Internet Connect (on my Mac OS X 10.4.11 by the way), but with having downloaded a pretty reliable set of instructions, I need to change the specific Bluetooth configuration and cannot.

The iPhone is recognized but I can not get a connection. It says Bluetooth connection is not available. When I look at the network prefs, The "Bluetooth PAN" says not connected and will not connect. They are on the same router and my Bluetooth mouse works fine. I simply can not get them to pair. Advanced for Bluetooth PAN has to configure using DCHP for IPv4 and Automatically for IPv6. Nothing else is on that sheet. This is a late 2012 iMac. New iPhone 5 (warranty replacement). Phone shows it's on my network. Checked computer and it's on my network.

I have a new Mac Pro which won't connect to the apple wireless keyboard, this is slightly different to the 'usual' bluetooth connection issues in that being its the first time powered on I need to go through the sign on and initial setup procedures before I can even get to the bluetooth settings but can't do so because the keyboard won't connect, catch 22 if you will.
The first screen I encounter when powering on the Mac Pro is an image to turn on the keyboard and mouse, the mouse is fine and I can navigate through the options until a entry is required from the keyboard such as computer name, wifi password etc then I'm stuck.
Is there anyway to reset the keyboard so it 'discovers' the mac?

I just bought an HP Photosmart C5580 printer without Bluetooth capabilities. Trying to connect it to my MacBook Pro OS X 10.5.6. When I try to set up the printer through the Bluetooth "Set up Bluetooth Device" function, I select "printer" under the list of options. Once I hit "continue", the Set Up Assistant automatically closes, and all that pops up is the Print & Fax System Preference Box. It lists the printer there, but won't allow me to do anything to actually connect the printer.
What should pop up is another box, asking me to select the printer. Under Bluetooth Preferences, it says that no devices are set up. However, it is clearly recognizing that the printer exists because when I look under "Browse Device" it is listed there. Yet it's clearly not connected since double clicking on the new listed printer only gives the message, "this device does not have the necessary services."

I can't seem to get my Macbook Pro 13" 2.26Ghz (OS 10.5.7) connect to my iPhone 3G (OS 3.0) via bluetooth. In the Bluetooth Setup Assistant the macbook sees the iPhone 3G, but they don't connect after I accept the connect on the iPhone 3G. The codes on the Macbook and iPhone are the same and, therefore, should connect.
I've searched the Apple Discussions (support) but there is no answer there.
