I currently trying to download software and I keep on receiving a "Hash Mismatch" message. Other responses say that there is nothing I can do. Is this really true?

I'm trying to get the hash key on my UK MacBookPro (Lion 10. 7. 4), unfortunately, the standard alt + 3 keyboard shortcut is not working. Whenever I hold down the combination, nothing happens. The same occurs if I was to press alt + 2-7. Oddly I can get the special characters for alt + 1, 8, 9, and 0. I've tried resetting the keyboard, with no avail. When I use the character viewer, the hashtag is above the 3.

I have just downloaded skype for the first time. I do not make many downloads. The problem is the application icon, appears in the side bar under places. I do not want it to be there. I'd rather it showed in applications or on my doc. How do i move it? Everytime I try to highlight it to drag it, it just opens up!!

both devices have iOS application syncing turned on, but i wasn't sure if apps, previously purchased, are also synced and downloaded across devices. I thought it was only new applications.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have an HP C4480 All-In-One printer. Scanning works, but when I try to print, it gives me a "Paper Size Mismatch" error.
I have chosen different paper sizes (A4, etc), tried different OSes, and
tried different sized paper. Sometimes the printer works, but rarely.
This was not always the case. The printer is only about 6 months old with my macbook, and began having this problem 2 months ago. The ink is brand new, and there's paper.
The problem might be that the paper size sensor is dirty or broken, and I read somewhere that I can physicall disable/remove
this.. or maybe in the software.
I attempted to download software to enable me to transfer lots of photos from my iPhone, but then kept getting this error.I have removed everything I can find to do with the progra and MacFuse but still whenever I plug it in this comes up.

I downloaded the freeBSD isos and burned them to DVD. But, I have to confirm the burn was OK. How can I run an md5 on the actual resulting dvd? I ran the md5 on the images with no problem as seen below:
Using md5sum from macports
Justins-MacBook-Pro:SONY8G justin$ md5sum 8.0-RELEASE-ia64-dvd1.iso
6b8df7fb34d5960ecf91a291926a1e6f 8.0-RELEASE-ia64-dvd1.iso
and using the md5 command included with Snow Leopard
Justins-MacBook-Pro:SONY8G justin$ md5 -r 8.0-RELEASE-ia64-dvd1.iso
6b8df7fb34d5960ecf91a291926a1e6f 8.0-RELEASE-ia64-dvd1.iso
Obviously both are identical. Now if I try to run md5 or md5sum on the drive this is what I get:
Justins-MacBook-Pro:~ justin$ md5sum /dev/disk2md5sum: /dev/disk2: Not a regular file
Using the md5 command included with SL

I am having difficulty troubleshooting this error. I have attached a section of the /var/log/opendirectoryd.log file while in debug mode. This is a 10.7.3 Open Directory master with no replicas. I put logging into debug mode to try to get to the root of this problem but I am not finding an answer to this issue. I am getting this same error message with multiple users, but they can all log in and function just fine. We are doing Radius auth to OD from our Cisco ASA for VPN connectivity and that works fine as well.

About a month ago, a friend who had just purchased his first Mac emailed me and asked why his Dock DownLoad file disappeared. I had no idea why. He still hasn't been able to reestablish it.
Yesterday, I downloaded something and my Dock DownLoad file vanished. I have tried rebooting, using (useless) Help, Spotlight, Search, and several other things. NO JOY. NO DownLoad file.
1. Does anyone know where to find DownLoad or how to bring it back?
I have experienced several idiosyncrasies with Snow Leopard, but when I call Apple support, they are very nice, but haven't a clue as to why it's happening.
2. Another problem is that the Highlight gets anchored on something in Mail, Word, and some other Apps. When I click somewhere else, the whole area between the "anchor" and what I click on is lit up. Apple doesn't know what causes it. I have to go through multiple machinations to shake it loose. I don't know what it is that causes it or specifically how to "shake it loose". Neither does Apple.
3. When typing in Word or an editor, there are times when the type changes to UpperCase and won;t let go.
Another problem is that, at times, when I click on a file, it fills the screen. Apple is aware of this problem and is trying to find an answer. Nothing, to date.
Apple support can't tell me why the MacMail Inbox spinner disappeared or how to get it back.
There are times when I can't access the hidden Dock. After rebooting and trying other things, the Dock finally shows up but any additions that I have put on the Dock are no longer there.
When I put a DVD in the slot, for the first few seconds, it grinds but does smooth out.
I thought that SL was supposed to get rid of the "foibles". "What happened on the way to the Forum"?
Is anyone finding other SL idiosyncrasies? What are they?
If anyone can help with items 1., 2, and/or 3. I'd be grateful.
BTW, Apple says that items 2 and 3 MAY be caused by the wireless Magic Mouse and/or the wireless keyboard; however, when I use alternates, it still happens.
What is mackeeper and should I download it?
