View 7 RepliesI'm trying to get the hash key on my UK MacBookPro (Lion 10. 7. 4), unfortunately, the standard alt + 3 keyboard shortcut is not working. Whenever I hold down the combination, nothing happens. The same occurs if I was to press alt + 2-7. Oddly I can get the special characters for alt + 1, 8, 9, and 0. I've tried resetting the keyboard, with no avail. When I use the character viewer, the hashtag is above the 3.

I am having difficulty troubleshooting this error. I have attached a section of the /var/log/opendirectoryd.log file while in debug mode. This is a 10.7.3 Open Directory master with no replicas. I put logging into debug mode to try to get to the root of this problem but I am not finding an answer to this issue. I am getting this same error message with multiple users, but they can all log in and function just fine. We are doing Radius auth to OD from our Cisco ASA for VPN connectivity and that works fine as well.

I have found that my hash key stroke should be either option + 3 or ctrl + 3. Neither are giving me a hash key stroke, so I can't setup trends on twitter! Not the end of the world, but slightly annoying none the less!

Having problems with the Audio, Brightness and eject button keys after windows xp automatic update. Buttons sometimes work after a shutdown and restart, sometimes not. Tried the Bootcamp 2.1 reinstall but didnt help much. Where the heck can i get drivers for the bloody thing?

I already gave up on Realtek doing something about their crappy sound quality (despite releasing a new driver every two weeks) and the mighty mouse freezing after hibernation unless u press the left button like a man possesed!!
As far as I understand there is a bug that stops Windows 7 or Vista from showing up in the Start Up disk options in the preference settings.
So the only option is to go through the boot menu selection but unfortunately I am using the Apple wireless keyboard and holding the option key down doesn't bring up the boot selection screen. Is there anything I can do ... or am I forced to use a USB keyboard for now ?
For the record I have the Wireless Keyboard and Mighty mouse paired and working in Windows 7 ( The keyboard has occasional lag from the first keystroke input but is fine from then ) Its just that I get no response from keystrokes during boot up.
I need some help. just recently got a new macbook pro. 15 inch 2.66 i7 model. i partitioned my harddrive and installed windows with bootcamp... windows loads just fine, only issue is my keyboard and track pad are not working. i've tried plugging in keyboards and a mouse via usb and they still dont work. i've started in safe mode and still nothing. has anyone had this issue before? know any way to fix it?

BTW Leopard is on 10.5.8 but I doubt that matters since I'm running in XP with boot camp. Bootcamp application in XP is version 2.1
I installed Windows 7 on my mid 2009 MacBook Pro. Everything is fine except I cannot seem to find a way to turn off the backlit keyboard, it stays on even when the room is lit pretty bright. I did a search and read that using the F8 key should turn it off but that's not working for me. Does anyone have a solution that works?

just trying to get back into Windows 7 after installing it via Boot Camp. Only thing is that holding down the option key during restart does nothing, and although the partition in which Windows 7 is installed under shows up in finder, I am unable to view it in system preferences so that I can boot from it. On "My Computer" in Vista I see "Bootcamp (C" and "Macintosh HD (E in my Hard Disks Drives. Also, whenever I start up Vista it tells me something about a wrongly formatted drive. My files are still all in the Mactintosh HD drive, but I don't know how to start up Mac OS X.
I have set up my Intel Mac Mini in the living room to act as an "Apple TV" but every time I start it up it complains that there is no keyboard and mouse connected. I then have to attach a keyboard and mouse before it will continue booting. Is there a way to disable keyboard and mouse completely? View 5 Replies View RelatedInstalled 10.6.5 a few days after it came out. I have an IMAC white version 4 years old. It now crashes several times a day. Symptoms are screen is locked and mouse and keyboard have no effect. Dont have any obscure software. In fact the problem has occurred when all I have open are a couple of Safari windows. It requires a restart which is pretty annoying as it tends to happen in the middle of doing something important like online bookings.
Earlier versions of this OS had many similar USB problems that were fixed in 10.6.4 (tho Apple never
mentioned them). Seems like the same problems have crept back in.
So Apple wanted to charge me $900 to change my broken LCD screen. I did the change myself for $86, a feat I am very proud of. Everything works great (the bezel's a bit loose and I did a little aesthetic damage to the hinge cover) but apart from that, the screen is 10x brighter than my old Rev B screen. The problem is this: I can't regulate brightness. Neither from in system preferences or from my keyboard. The monitor does, however, dim, and sleep. Is this a firmware issue? If so, how do I fix it? I would kinda' like to have control over screen brightness. After some use, this screen is really SUPER bright. I'd really like to get the brightness down to humane levels (it's shining out the back of the case where you normally don't see light).
