I have found that my hash key stroke should be either option + 3 or ctrl + 3. Neither are giving me a hash key stroke, so I can't setup trends on twitter! Not the end of the world, but slightly annoying none the less!

I'm trying to get the hash key on my UK MacBookPro (Lion 10. 7. 4), unfortunately, the standard alt + 3 keyboard shortcut is not working. Whenever I hold down the combination, nothing happens. The same occurs if I was to press alt + 2-7. Oddly I can get the special characters for alt + 1, 8, 9, and 0. I've tried resetting the keyboard, with no avail. When I use the character viewer, the hashtag is above the 3.

I'm doing a presentation, and I'd like to include a bar graph of world population trends. I created a bar chart to show the data, but I need the x-axis to be "to scale", asin, have the correct amount of space between the bars. I downloaded the freeBSD isos and burned them to DVD. But, I have to confirm the burn was OK. How can I run an md5 on the actual resulting dvd? I ran the md5 on the images with no problem as seen below:

I am having difficulty troubleshooting this error. I have attached a section of the /var/log/opendirectoryd.log file while in debug mode. This is a 10.7.3 Open Directory master with no replicas. I put logging into debug mode to try to get to the root of this problem but I am not finding an answer to this issue. I am getting this same error message with multiple users, but they can all log in and function just fine. We are doing Radius auth to OD from our Cisco ASA for VPN connectivity and that works fine as well.

So i'm thinking of getting a Mac Pro soon but what is kind of holding me off is that Bootcamp still doesn't offer 64-Bit Windows Xp installation & drivers support. I need to use Xp from time to time for certain tasks.It's really silly if you think that one wants to take use of the Ram & CPU and it's quite disappointing Apple has made no efforts in that regard.
Is there a way to manually setup a 64-Bit Xp installation fully working?

Now, whenever I type in twitter.com in Safari or Firefox I'm immediately redirected to facebook.com. In fact, twitter is being replaced by facebook in the url, so that if I type www.twitter.com/someone I get redirected to www.facebook.com/someone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had my iPhoto library on a USB drive attached to Time Capsule for some time with no problems. I recently upgraded to iPhoto '09, and still had no problems, so not sure that's related. The library updated ok, and I played with Places and indexed some Faces over more than one session, no problems. Upgraded iPhoto on all the macs and tested their access to the library ok.
Suddenly now, none of the network macs can open the library. iPhoto launches with no pictures visible and has a spinning beechball. I have to Force Quit iPhoto. Same on all macs.
I then copied the library from the networked drive locally to a mac, and iPhoto could then open it perfectly ok. So I guess the library is not corrupt either.
Any ideas why this network setup would suddenly stop working?
I recently installed XP with bootcamp on my MacBook Pro. The big problem I'm having is that the internal speakers on my computer don't have sound coming out of them. (When I'm on windows) The volume control on my keyboard doesn't do anything, either. When I go to find my sound control, to make sure it's not muted or anything, I find that I can't even edit the sound controls. It says I don't have a device that can output sound, even though my internal speakers work fine on my mac desktop. It can't seem to find my internal speakers, when I try setting up a new device. I'm having a lot of trouble setting up internet on the XP as well, I just don't understand how to do it. (I've used mac all my life, I am really new to windows.) Basically, I have a wireless internet connection, I've got the router downstairs, and the information is handy. But I just don't know how to set it up, and I don't know what type of internet connection I want.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to setup a firefighter's apple laptop into our linksys net at firestation. She got access fine when we did not have it secured but now we setup a wep key. All other members can get in by entering wep key when they choose the wireless router but when we input the wep key to apple laptop airport I think we get connection error. Key is definitely right. What changed in the apple setup other than the wep key, again when signal was unsecure laptop safari worked fine. The linksys is a B about 3 years old.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter discovering that the Tweetie app I use turns on the discrete GPU, I've been looking at alternatives to maximize battery life. A lot of twitter clients use Adobe Air, which also seems to get a bad rep, but is that because it drains battery life too, or because it's just buggy otherwise? So far I've been using twhirl without any obvious issues, and I'm testing out the battery usage with that running. I have to admit, I didn't notice any significant battery drain when Tweetie was running, so maybe I'm just overreacting here. If I remember right I got a little over 6 hours, and installed Tweetie about two hours after I turned my MacBook on then. I'd actually prefer twhirl since I use that on the desktop and I'm just used to it, but not if Adobe Air is going to cause problems on my shiny new MacBook.

Here What I want to do is when I send a tweet (d iGod_like_iPod mac etrieve contact "Aaron") Mail picks it up sees etrieve contact based on a rule starts a given automator app which turns around and emails my phone that particular contact. What I am having trouble with is after mail initiates the rule based on etrieve contact I have no clue how to copy "Aaron" from the twitter message in mail to pass that on to Automator.

Tweetie was awesome back in the day, I was shocked that it's been AGES since any form of update and that it lacks many of the new features from Twitter. I believe in supporting programmers but not when they let something go this stale and charge $20 for the full version. TweetDeck is awesome as ever but overkill for me being the casual Twitter user. I'd also like something that doesn't use another client (Adobe AIR) to run. What else is out there that's serving up updates to keep up with Twitter feature and API changes?

I have a JPEG photo that's 5184 x 3456 (17.9 MP) It's too big for Twitter which has a file size limit of 5MB.
How do I resize the photo for Twitter? There are no Twitter-specific instructions in the Help Center. I have tried to follow the instructions for Image Export. I end up with identical photos.
I use Twitterfon on my iPhone and like it a lot and am currently using TwitterPost on my Mac but am not that happy with it. It doesn't seem that Twitterfon is available for Mac but is there a similar Twitter client for the Mac or something that is better than TwitterPost?
