Jun 14, 2012My MacBook Pro 13" Mid-2009 has recently started to shutdown unexpectedly when it starts running on battery power, I don't know if its the battery or the motherboard (I hope it isn't).
I tried resetting everything, reinstalled the whole OS, repaired permissions (don't know what for), but I keep getting this. It started about a month ago when I tried to boot up from the battery as power source:
The first try went all the way through the apple showing up with the spinning symbol underneath it, then POOF. Then everytime I tried to boot up again it didn't even show the Apple logo, just 5 or 6 seconds after the chime, POOF AGAIN.
So I connected it to the power adapter and everything went OK, I started working on it, everything was fine until I disconnected it. I kept working on battery and 2 minutes later the computer died again, it sounded like when you keep pressing the power button to force-shutdown, like it's protecting itself from something and it's very frustrating not being able to use your LAPTOP as one.
Oh, one more thing, the battery icon says "Service Battery" and it shows only 1 hour of battery (on 100% charge) the 2 minutes I can work on it before it shuts down.

MacBook Pro :: WiFi Disconnected When Screen Closed
Sep 12, 2010I recently set up my new macbook pro with an Apple Cinema Display. The setup is great except that my wifi connection only works when my MBP is open. The second I close the screen the connection stops working. It's not a proximity issue since it works just fine when it's open.

Mar 19, 2010I've been experiencing a problem lately with my Wifi, this started around last January where my Macbook Pro Wifi will be disconnected and reconnect within a few seconds, the period between the connection cut off varies sometimes short(3-5 minutes) sometimes long(1 hour?).
The weird thing is, this happens only when I use my house Wifi(NTL Ireland) and when I use my neighbor's Wifi which happens to be the same company(NTL) I do no experience this problem.And another weird thing is 2 of my housemates who are using PC do not have this problem and 1 of my housemate who is using mac also experiencing this problem, but the disconnection of the wifi of mine and her doesnt happen at the same time. I am so fed up with this, can anybody tell me what's the problem ? my macbook ? router ? broadband company ? weather ?

Aug 29, 2014After upgrading to OS X 10.9.4 (13E28), I found that the Wifi of my MBP retina would suddenly got disconnected, then after a moment, automatically got connected again.... But on and off, this issue happen again -- disconnected, connected....
Really don't know why. This issue did not happen before upgrading to 10.9.4. So consider maybe is the system bug?

MacBook :: System Will Not Power Up / Turned On
Sep 12, 2009The other day my friend gave me his old macbook saying that it was broken and would only turn on sometimes. I have had this computer for 2 days and it has never turned on yet. He kept the hard drive so the machine does not currently have one. He also could not find the Mac OSX install CD, so I don't have one either. The battery is fully charged (the lights on the bottom of it are all on) and the light on the adapter is green. When I push the power button, nothing happens. No lights, no noise, nothing. I called apple and they told me that without a hard drive, the only way to test it would be to boot off of the Mac OSX disk by holding "c" when the computer is booting. The problem is, 1, I don't have a disk, and 2, how am I supposed to hold the c key while the computer is booting if it will not turn on? I have tried everything it says on the apple website and have tried it with different ram, with and a usb hard drive plugged in.

Mar 23, 2010I am considering getting a used MB Pro for editing home movies. OK, its not Final Cut Pro stuff, but this will be the most demanding thing I use the computer for. In the past I have used iMovieHD and iDVD to make movies on my 12" PB G4 with a 1.25 GHz processor and 1.5 GB of RAM and ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 with 64 MB or 128 MB (not sure which). This has worked fine, but I can tell its a little slow. I certainly can't plan on doing anything else at the same time.
But, now the previous generation MB Pros are going for $1000 (used or refurb) on eBay and I am considering getting something like a 2.4 GHz / 2 - 4 GB with a 256 or 512 MB Nvidia 8600 graphics card.

Mar 18, 2009office is upstairs so i bought a Macbook pro which i can use downstairs while watching tv or in the bedroom.... I bought my girlfriend a macbook for the same purpose.. I plan on buying a dell ultrasharp 24" monitor and keep it in the office that way either one of us can go and plug our laptops in and use it at the desk. I want to keep a power supply up there for both of us to use, can i buy a spare 85w power supply and will it be safe for her macbook?

Aug 17, 2009I got a new macbook black that is not covered under warranty, the magsafe fried on it and it used to boot up but not charge the battery or show any signs of power from the magsafe so then I bought a new magsafe that connects to the logic board and replaced it and when I plugged the power adapter in it tried to turn on right away and then the fan spinned and the sleep light light up then it shut off right away and I didn't smell nothing from the macbook or logic board. The battery now charges and the light on the magsafe adapter lights up so I tried to turn it back on and it doesn't the same thing turns on and then right off just the fan spins and then the hdds spin lasts for like a sec or two. I tried to turn it on with the battery out and with just the battery in nothing swapped the RAM same thing went from two 1 gig sticks to 2 256mb sticks and then tried another two 2gig sticks same thing then I tried a different hdd and have the same thing happen? What I need to do to get this working and yes I tried a google search and every1 ended up taking it to apple and I cannot do that.

Feb 9, 2010I've been experiencing the following problem with my late 2007 MacBook Pro: I can't use it on batteries. As soon as I disconnect power supply, it works for 10-15 minutes and switches off. Not sleeps, but suddenly turns off completely. The system battery indicator drops by about 10% (showing 85-90% battery charged), whereas 4 out of 5 LEDs are lit on the battery itself. After such a sunned switch-off, I'm not able to start again the laptop - it doesn't react on Power On button - like the battery wasn't inserted at all. Right after I plug on power supply back again, everything gets back to normal and I can use it normally, but still only if it's connected to the electricity.

my mbp keeps disconnecting almost every 5 minutes.then i have to turn off the ap,turn on the ap, insert EVERY TIME I CONNECT THE PASS (even if the remember pass box is checked) and redo this step every 5 minutes. for some reason sometimes i turn on the ap,connect and sais "self assigned ip" and i got no internet connectivity.
oh,and if i set up the wifi router again with no password..guess what..it works!the same thing happens on my APPLE! Airport Express.

Sep 7, 2009Is it possible for a sharp and sudden fall to disconnect the battery in the Macbook Air? My friend just emailed me--her husband dropped the MBA from the kitchen table to the floor (so just under 3'). She has an X icon where the battery icon should be and for the first few restarts, she's had to reenter wireless password information, as well as date/time. The MBA works fine when it's plugged in. But there's "a teeny dent in the upper left corner. Really tiny."

Dec 17, 2010I connected an external TV in my Mac and now, it's always shown as an additional display, even if its disconnected and powered off! I tried plugging and unplugging, plugging and powering off, mirroring, changing the finder from one screen to the other and then back, but nothing works. Right now I'm using SwitchRes to disable the external TV but I want to delete the TV from the display list!, the TV is not connected!, this is crazy.

Intel Mac :: Internet Sharing Gets Disconnected?
Jul 2, 2012After applying the recent software update version 10.7.4 to OSX Lion, the internet sharing gets disconnected periodically. But when I look at the internet sharing icon on iMac, it states that it is still on and according to iPhone, it is still connected to the wifi, however, there is no internet connection. I have to turn off the internet sharing and wifi from the iMac and turn it back on and switch channels in the internet sharing and it works again. But this is getting to be frustrating as I have never encountered this issue since the update. I think the recent updates is bugged.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Bluetooth Audio Get Disconnected?
Jul 3, 2012The bluetooth audio only gets connected when the music starts to play (I think it makes sense). But it gets disconnected just after the music stops (maybe when I'm changing the song I want to hear) and it's annoying. Worst, most of the times when it connects back, the sound only lasts one second and then it get silent. ITunes shows that the song is being played, but nothing sounds.

Jul 5, 2012I've kept a PPC with system 7.5.1 around for reference to prior financial records.Now chose to wipe it clean, along with 3 external HDs.
Erased internal disc, then erased three external discs.
Maybe that is enough, but I recall that if financial and personal data is on a drive, the only way to insure it is not accessible is to overwrite the drive.
How can that be done with 7.5.1???
What I did do is use Silver Lining to also erase the HD and THEN set a password to both start and open the drives. Will that suffice? or what??

Apr 3, 2012External Drive Improperly disconnected pops up after I awake the Mac from sleep?
Mac Intel with Snow Leopard connected with fire wire to an external G-Drive.
Normally this has not been a problem. However I now have 2 external G-Drives daisy chained to each other with one firewire going to the mac.
Everything works normally accept when the mac goes to sleep it thinks the external drives were disconnected when they are not.
