MacBook Pro :: Slow Loading Of Internet Upon Starting An Internet Browser
Apr 28, 2012I have a macbook pro and have recently noticed that when initially loading any of, google chrome, firefox or safari it takes a very long time for the internet to load the webpages.
It says that there is a full wireless connection but will not load the webpage.
Once the webpage has finally loaded after about a minute, subsequent browsing is as fast as can be expected upon my broadband connection, loading pages in <1s.
However the problem reappears whenever I open a new window, or anything else that might use the internet such as the app store, itunes or apple software update.Â

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Internet Sharing Keeps Starting Upon Reboot?
Jun 21, 2012I have lion installed on a mac mini with 2 usb ethernet adapters. Everytime I reboot the mac mini, it enables Internet Sharing and changes the IP on the 2 USB ethernet interfaces to 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.3.1. How do I stop this from happening. Disabling it in the preferences panel and resetting the IP addresses on each interface get wiped out once the server is rebooted.

Apr 1, 2012I bought a MacBook Pro 17inch i7 in November 2010 and it was working fine under Snow Leopard and Lion since then. Yesterday I installed Bootcamp and it was workng also. Today when starting from Bootcamp to Lion I had a Kernel Panic (had this never before) and the screen turned black. I just have the energy cable connencted to it, the computer starts somehow (noise) but no Startsound and screen keeps black.Then I made a little mistake by inserting a LION installer DVD. Cannot get this out anymore, even when I press the trackpad when starting it. I changed the internal hard drive to be sure that the problem does not come from there. I reset the PRAM. I reset the SMC. No way to get the laptop back to work.

May 14, 2012My macbook pro overheated last night while in sleep mode. I starting it this morning it just kept a black screen and would do nothing else. Tried holding down power button for 10 secs and now it wont turn on at all. I pulled the battery out and unplugged the from the charger. Put it back in the computer got warm without even being on. Don't know what to do. Do not have apple care, mac was bought through school and is 4 years old. Is there anything that can be done to save it?

OS X :: Dimness In Screen Brightness / Starting About Halfway Down The Screen
Dec 22, 2009I have a 2007 aluminium imac running Snow Leopard. It needed to have a disk drive replacement recently under applecare. Since I got it back I have noticed a marked dimness in screen brightness starting about halfway down the screen, most noticeable against a window with a white background. It is pristine white at the top of the window but from about halfway begins to get dimmer. Its a bit like being in sunlight and the coming into shadow, or finding mist creeping into the picture.
I have tried recalibrating it but it makes no difference. It might have been there before the repair but if it was I didn't notice it or else I grew used to it but now I find it quite distracting and it does make text a little harder to read as I'm getting on in years and my sight needs all the light it can get. Is it normal or is it a sign of problems beginning to manifest themselves with the display? I wouldn't like to ignore it & find myself out of applecare cover when it does.

Feb 4, 2010We've had a Macbook now for about 18 months - no problems. However, last night it was very slow in starting-up and then we found it impossible to move any icons around the screen (click+drag). We have just five small folders on the desktop.
Although 'hiding' is 'on', the dock has also disappeared completely and settings for the dock cannot be changed under preferences.
The Macbook won't turn off under 'shut-down', we have to shut-down by holding pressing 'on' button.

Aug 23, 2010Every once and a while, usually when my MacBook is running on it's battery, the screen will show a black screen for nearly only a millisecond or two. It's not too bothersome, and it usually blinks back to normal before I can notice it, but nevertheless I don't want it, and from what I can recall, this only started happening after I installed the Snow Leopard Graphics Update. Is anybody else getting these problems on their MBPs or MBs? MacBook config details in my sig.

Jul 22, 2008So for the first time in over a year since I purchased it, my iMac crashed twice.The first time was this morning, i went to do something and the screen went black, and my secondary display got black and white lines. I had to restart. And the boot screen with the apple logo hung around for a while.
Then, later on the screen went whacky after trying to wake it from sleep (not full sleep just display sleep) and had a bunch of moving lines and then I couldn't see anything. So luckily I got a picture. After restart, it seems fine.I'll call apple care in the morning, but thought i'd try my luck here.

May 14, 2010I have connected my Aluminium Macbook (2008) to my HDTV via a Mini Display to HD port.This works fine when I mirror the image from my macbook. When I turn off mirror image however (IE effectively having two seperate screens) my internet slows down drastically. In some cases it also disconnects. This issue is resolved by turning on the mirror screen button, or unplugging the cable from the laptop.

MacBook :: Internet Says Have Internet But Wont Connect - Cannot Open System Preferences Or Internet Preferences
May 10, 2009I have a macbook a little over a year old. It's my first mac and I love it. Yesterday though it started acting really weird. I first noticed that it was really, really hot and the fan was running. I turned it off and back on and here's what I found out:
Applications are being deleted from macbook. ITunes, IPhoto, iChat have clear question marks over icon. There are 8-10 blank spaces in the Applications folder where applications have been deleted. However, data is still there (ex. pictures still there, but no iPhoto).
Internet= Says I have internet but wont connect.
Cannot open " System Preferences" or "Internet Preferences".
If connected to home computer will connect to internet and allowed to open internet preferences but still no system preferences.
If shut down....takes a while to come back on and starts up 2-3 times.
Also "Preview" is gone. Now " ColorSync Utility" opens.
Is this my hard drive dying? I'm tech challenged, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

May 1, 2010i installed a win 7 on my macbook using boot camp 3.1 and when i switch the screen from mac to win 7 i have no internet in windows, but if i restart pc and choose to start first from Windows everything is working perfect, do somebody knows how to fix it?

Jan 1, 2010I'm running OSX 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro, and today I've been unable to connect to the internet via ethernet or wi-fi, unless I'm in safe mode. Then everything seems to work as it should, which makes me believe that this is a software issue rather than a hardware problem. I've tried making a new account with administrator priveleges, but that doesn't solve my issue. Does anyone have any advice on how I can connect to the internet under my normal user account, rather than in safe mode? I should note that I won't be able to get my hands on my repair CD or perform a clean install of OSX because that stuff is at home, and I'm in college. Also, I'm at a university and don't have a router. I just use the campus-wide wi-fi. Finally, my roommate has no problem accessing the internet in our room via ethernet or wi-fi, but I do. Thanks for the help everyone.
