MacBook Pro :: Slow Loading Of Internet Upon Starting An Internet Browser
Apr 28, 2012
I have a macbook pro and have recently noticed that when initially loading any of, google chrome, firefox or safari it takes a very long time for the internet to load the webpages.
It says that there is a full wireless connection but will not load the webpage.
Once the webpage has finally loaded after about a minute, subsequent browsing is as fast as can be expected upon my broadband connection, loading pages in <1s.
However the problem reappears whenever I open a new window, or anything else that might use the internet such as the app store, itunes or apple software update.
for no foreseeable reason my white macbook has suddenly slowed in speed when browsing pages, they load justa s fast it just takes ages form typing a URL to start loading, my other desktop is fine and the line is 100MB download steady so its not web speed.
I have been using my 13" MBP since the 7th of August and since the first day the internet has been slow and it won't load pictures half the time! It will load a little blue question mark instead of the picture! I have three other apple computers and a netbook on wireless (not all at the same time, just to check internet speeds) and they all work perfectly so it isn't the router and it isn't 10.5.8 because I have not installed it!
Ever since I purchased my Macbook Pro over 3 months ago, watching videos has been very slow. It doesn't freeze, it just takes a really long time to load any video from youtube or any other website.
My internet speed is fine as I have another laptop (Toshiba running on windows vista) and video loading is really quick and don't have to wait for a video to completely load as it is already fast. So is the problem the Macbook or internet connection?
My Toshiba laptop is wirelessly connected to the internet though (Connected using ethernet cable). However, the macbook is wirelessly connected.
Is there a way to tell which one is slow, if anything is going slow? I have an extremely old PC which is normally ok for most things, but gets bogged down if I am doing too many things.I was so annoyed with our national real estate site after they changed the format that I wrote a letter once a long time ago.. and I was ready to let them have it again, listing all the reasons why it is so bad and so much worse than the original.
Today for the first time, I accessed the site (mls.ca) using my new iMac. It was like lightening speed, comparatively speaking.Wow, suddenly I knew why the mls people hadn't changed their new format. But then I started going to other sites.. like airmiles.ca for example, and it was slow as heck... and stalling.. etc. How would I be able to tell whether it is an internet slowness or the computer being slow?
ately i had an issue which i cannot resolve here. My APE seems to be the main cause to slow my internet in loading pages up. My speed with the check from ISP, it is great. However, I realize that my ping time is kinda high? What should I do to bring my internet back to smooth loading up?
i have tried resetting safari, emptying the cache, deleting emails, deleting history it will run OK when first logged on anf after about 5 mins starts to load the pages slowly.
Since a month or 2 my internet, safari & firefox are slow. I tried lots of stuff, dns, had some helpfull youtube turtorial tips, but still I dealing with the same problem. When internet is loading a new, never visited, website or a youtube video it keeps loading until I click the airport button. When I click the airport button the site is loaded straight away and internet is real fast. Thing is, I just keep on clicking.
I'm running a 2x3.2 quad core g5 with 12 gigs of ram, but lately, my browser speeds have plummeted. Regardless of browser (default is firefox, but it also happens in chrome and safari), my pages are loading extremely slowly. However, the web browser(s) seems to be the only part of the internet that's lagging. World of Warcraft ping is almost always around 30ms, even a time zone away. And my speed tests verify that everything is fine - 5/6 megs down, and .5-.6 megs up.
what would be slowing my browser down? Funny thing is the only site that loads as it should is a google search through the toolbar of firefox. Any other bookmarked site takes 3-5 seconds at the very least...sometimes up to 10-15+ seconds.
I just got a MacBook Pro for christmas. It has Snow leopard and i've updated all the software. I've connected to the internet and it works to a point. Every once in awhile it says i'm not connected but i am and its very good connection. I'm just wondering if it's the MacBook, or is it the internet. Because it doesn't do that for any of the other laptops or xbox 360. Only my MacBook and my Ps3.
Certain pages, sometimes, won't load and the error would be that I'm not connected to the internet. When I actually am. I keep encountering problems with Safari. Is it normal?
I have a macbook a little over a year old. It's my first mac and I love it. Yesterday though it started acting really weird. I first noticed that it was really, really hot and the fan was running. I turned it off and back on and here's what I found out:
Applications are being deleted from macbook. ITunes, IPhoto, iChat have clear question marks over icon. There are 8-10 blank spaces in the Applications folder where applications have been deleted. However, data is still there (ex. pictures still there, but no iPhoto).
Internet= Says I have internet but wont connect.
Cannot open " System Preferences" or "Internet Preferences".
If connected to home computer will connect to internet and allowed to open internet preferences but still no system preferences.
If shut down....takes a while to come back on and starts up 2-3 times.
Also "Preview" is gone. Now " ColorSync Utility" opens.
Is this my hard drive dying? I'm tech challenged, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have lion installed on a mac mini with 2 usb ethernet adapters. Everytime I reboot the mac mini, it enables Internet Sharing and changes the IP on the 2 USB ethernet interfaces to 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.3.1. How do I stop this from happening. Disabling it in the preferences panel and resetting the IP addresses on each interface get wiped out once the server is rebooted.

When I try to play videos nothing appears except a message saying Missing Plug In, no videos will play on any site. A pop up window sometimes also appears on safari saying "Flash Player (Safari Internet Plugin) quit unexpectedly". I installed chrome after I identified that videos didnt play in safari but videos still didn't play. I also tried uninstalling and re-installing flash which did nothing! I'm on a 2008 macbook model 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM on OS X 10.6.5.
Ma l'accesso al mio streaming di IPhoto da ICloud.com (quindi con un browser) non è possibile? But access to my stream from iPhoto from "ICloud.com" (in internet with a browser) is not possible?
Computer specs: Brand new Macbook Pro, 2.4 Ghz, Intel Core i5, 4GB, 1333 MHz DDR3. I'm connected wirelessly. My girlfriend's Macbook Pro and my old Macbook did not have this issue at all. I don't even know where to begin in regards to fixing this and I'm hoping someone can help shed some light. This is really frustrating.I'll call Apple if need be but I wanted to ask you guys first because I know Apple will say it's my ISP and my ISP will say it's Apple.
Speedtest results: .98 MBps Down, 1.43 Mbps Up.

I might be asking the question wrong but here is my dilemma. The only reason I need windows on my mac is for a program that is run through internet explorer only. It won't work on firefox or anything else. It was certified for I.E. - I forget the minimum version it is certified for but the old, old I.E. for mac is too old and won't work.
Is there a way to turn a mac browser into functioning like internet explorer?
While in Safari, I typed in internet expoler thinking I would be getting that browser to use.Immediately the screen said I won a prize and all I needed to do was click to answer a quick survey. I thought something was no right so I hit the back arrow to bcak out and a box came up saying " are you sure you wnat to leave" Lomg story short this bug will not let me exit Safari, all the options are greyed out ( like empty cache, etc.) I was able to force quit, and reboot computer, whne I went back to safari I got the same take this survey for a prize script and the only way out was to force quit.
About a week ago I started having unbearably slow internet on a Mid 2009 MacBook Pro. The problem occurs on both wired and wireless connections. The problem occurs in Safari, FireFox, and Chrome. The browser stalls at the "connecting" phase of web page loading. Speed tests are not impacted. Sometimes it appears to load pages in "bursts". I have tried 3 changing the DNS and still have the problem. I have tried reinstalling OS X and still have the problem.
So i just got my macbook air today, and im loving it. The only problem is that the internet on this thing is SLOW. I have pretty decent internet at home, both my pc and macbook pro (2007) is fine. But on the MBA, a normal website takes minutes before being completely loaded. I just tested all my computers on speedtest.net, and my mbp was able to get 11.86download and 0.84upload, while my MBA get 0.45download and 0.15upload Is anyone else getting this problem?
I have a Macbook Air running 10.5 and I am having an issue with the internet connection slowing down every time I use my TV (50" plasma 1080p) as a monitor. The wireless internet connection either slows down or stalls out completely. The moment I disconnect it from the TV, everything starts working again, full speed. I have already moved my wireless to another room because I thought the TV might be interfering with the connection but that didn't help at all.
I got a very weird problem. When I connect my computer (Macbook, Mac OS X Leopard) via cable to the router all my applications work with no problem. I can browse the internet, visit the itunes store, receive mail, get updates on my dashboard.
But when I am connected to the internet via wifi (on the same router) I can still browse the internet while all other apps cannot connect to the internet. Itunes says it cannot connect, mail says it cannot retrieve any mail etc.
I have tried on a different router at a friends house. Same thing. Everything works via cable but wirelessly only the browser works and nothing else.
I am trying to work in an image based website. The message I recieve when I try to get into the site: This image flow resource requires one of the following miminum browser versions: Internet explorer 6.0. The browser you are currently using is Apple-Mac Safari Version 5.0.
Over the last couple of weeks, I am having trouble with images loading while on the internet. Some are just blank spaces, others have the "blue question mark" in the space.

Experiencing extremely slow internet when using my Macbook (2.2 GHz core 2 duo, 1 GB memory) in clamshell mode after updating to 10.5.3. I use my Macbook with an external monitor (samsung 22" syncmaster), keyboard and mouse (However, when using the external monitor with the MBs top open I have no problem so I dont think its a problem with the monitor as some others have had).
When using my Macbook with its top down the airport display shows only one or two bars, and I need to wait from ten seconds to a time out for web pages to load on both Safari and Firefox. When I use the MB by itself I have no problems. The problem is not with the network as my roommate running a macbook 10.4.11 is fine (as well as a pc) and I have the same problem with slow Internet when connected to other networks.
Another problem I have had is with the sleep mode after updating to 10.5.2. The computer will not go to sleep when I leave the monitor and keyboard plugged in, also it will wake up at odd times (once every hour or so, this perhaps is due to the Bluetooth mouse I have connected).
I have just moved in with my boyfriend and am connecting to his wireless network.
I am getting downoad speeds of just 52kbs on my mac when on the pc at the same time speedtests are showing 4.2mbs.
What can be causing this? I don't understand.
It seems as well that my mac is using the available speed, it's just getting lost somewhere. I'll explain:
I was doing a speedtest on the pc and when the dial was showing the current speed when running the test it was just 0.4 mbs, at this time I was downloading Skype application on my mac, it was saying speeds of 15kbs so it had been taking ages. When I then paused the download on my mac, the speedtest dial on the pc shot up to 4.2mbs on the pc. So it seems as though the bandwith is getting lost somehow on the mac, it's being used, but it's not being used right.
