Mar 5, 2012When I need to take the macbook pro with me, I usually turn it off, remove the power output and all the usb cables from it. So later when then I turn it on, the screen is a little bit enlarged and doesn't go back to normal size - or at least I don't know how to make it go back to the normal display. And the zoom is not turned on - already checked it a couple times.

May 31, 2009I have owned a new white macbook for a month or so now and I am a little concerned about the quality of the screen. Basically the viewing angles are very bad. The slightest movement off center, the image completely changes, especially the blacks. Also on a pure black background, the bottom left/right corners are nowhere near black and are sort of shining greyish and it takes a bit of adjustment to get an even black from top to bottom, if at all. I was just wondering if this just a normal circumstance with theses lower-end white macbooks or should there be a better quality screen experience?

Aug 7, 2010It's only an 8 month old mid 2009 uMBP (2.26ghz, 4GB, 500GB). I was using the Disk Utility when it asked me to insert my MAC OS X Install disc and press "c" during start up and repair it. Every time I insert the disc and press "c" my screen goes completely dark. I thought it could have been a problem with the sensor so I flashed a light into it but it didn't work. I even tried putting it directly towards the sun light and still it doesn't work.

Sep 7, 2009So I was playing World of Warcraft with out the battery in since I find when removing the battery the temperature diminishes. But I accidentally pulled the power cord and my computer shut down. When I rebooted my computer screens color has gone all funny. This isn't the first time this has happened. The first time I just turned on my computer and the color was like this. After 3 months while watching a movie on an external monitor and accidentally ripping the monitors plug out of my laptop, it magically fixed itself. The second time was while I was in college. I walked into library, sat down, turned on my computer and it was back. I slapped my computer around a little bit out of frustration. Repeatedly turned it on, then shut if off with the power button for about 30 minutes, and again it decided to work properly after awhile.
Now this third time, while playing WoW, I've tried both previous solutions over and over again but nothing has changed. I've taken it in to apple store seeing as how i bought the extended warranty but the problem is the 2 closest corners to me have minor dents in them and they said accidental damage isn't covered in my warranty even though I doubt these dents have anything to do with my problem since those dents happened over 2 years ago. I've attached some pictures. The first one is how my screen should look, the second one is how it actually looks. The third is of how movies look, and the 4th is how my games start up screen looks. For some reason it wont let me upload the images. The only way I can describe the problem in words is that it looks like an imaged I edited with the solarized option on a cell phone. All bright reds greens and blues.

Apr 17, 2012I have a Mac Pro with 4 monitors; I've been using it for a couple of years now, with no problem. Over the last few months, I've noticed that after a while, screen redraws (like after I move a window) get completely messed up. Remarkably, this is visible to screengrab, so you can see what it looks like here: url...it's worst on one of the monitors, but does happen on one of the others.Usually going to Dashboard and back clears it up, but not always.Also, a weird thing affects Firefox - the window contents go completely black sometimes. Sometimes moving it to a different monitor makes it show up again, and sometimes not.I've had one of the video cards replaced (the one running the monitors where this happens most often) but it's still happening. And it's not consistent enough so that if I taker the machine to Apple, they'd have to work on it for weeks maybe to see this behavior. [code]

May 3, 2012When I press the start button the screen goes on and I hear the chime but after 2 to 3 seconds the screen goes completely black. the fan in working the red light under the mouse is on. led # 1,2,3 are all on. I can't find my original system disk, so I inserted an original system disk from my macbook and tried pressing "C" at start up. But what ever I do the screen goes on for 2 or 3 second and after that goes black and stays black.

I took an old photo of her and cropped it and went to (on Iphoto) share and set desktop and I had it perfect. Then I played around with other photos of her to see if I liked them better and when I came back to her photo and did a set desktop it was WAY too big. I went to the original on my camera and transferred it to I photo - fixed it and did a set desktop but it is way to big.

May 26, 2010So far, this isn't going well for me. I have, at random points, had the screen completely shut off (go black) and no ability to bring it back on. I have also seen heat problems, and I'm really not doing anything except for outlook. Has anyone had the screen fail on them like this? It doesn't happen on the Mac side -- just when running Win7 in bootcamp with the latest drivers. Somewhat frustrating -- it just happened when I tried to open a PNG using windows picture viewer: bam, screen to black. I am guessing graphics driver failure.

Feb 21, 2010I noticed that when importing photos into Iphoto, sometimes the importing process will hang or take a long time to finish. I would usually have to close Iphoto and import the photos again. My Iphoto Library is about 70GB. I decided to rebuild my Iphoto Library hoping that it would fix those issues. It took several hours to rebuild. Afterwards I opened Iphoto and noticed that when enlarging alot of my photos, there was a blur in the photo before it would display. This mostly occurs with my large sized photos. I never had this before. I decided to import some photos that are already in Iphoto (ones that when enlarged have a blur) from my picture folder. When I enlarged them there was no blur. Should I try rebuilding my Iphoto Library again but this time just select "rebuild all of the photos' thumbnails". I also notice that some of the thumbnails are blurry.

May 14, 2010I have connected my Aluminium Macbook (2008) to my HDTV via a Mini Display to HD port.This works fine when I mirror the image from my macbook. When I turn off mirror image however (IE effectively having two seperate screens) my internet slows down drastically. In some cases it also disconnects. This issue is resolved by turning on the mirror screen button, or unplugging the cable from the laptop.

MacBook :: Internet Says Have Internet But Wont Connect - Cannot Open System Preferences Or Internet Preferences
May 10, 2009I have a macbook a little over a year old. It's my first mac and I love it. Yesterday though it started acting really weird. I first noticed that it was really, really hot and the fan was running. I turned it off and back on and here's what I found out:
Applications are being deleted from macbook. ITunes, IPhoto, iChat have clear question marks over icon. There are 8-10 blank spaces in the Applications folder where applications have been deleted. However, data is still there (ex. pictures still there, but no iPhoto).
Internet= Says I have internet but wont connect.
Cannot open " System Preferences" or "Internet Preferences".
If connected to home computer will connect to internet and allowed to open internet preferences but still no system preferences.
If shut down....takes a while to come back on and starts up 2-3 times.
Also "Preview" is gone. Now " ColorSync Utility" opens.
Is this my hard drive dying? I'm tech challenged, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jan 1, 2010I'm running OSX 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro, and today I've been unable to connect to the internet via ethernet or wi-fi, unless I'm in safe mode. Then everything seems to work as it should, which makes me believe that this is a software issue rather than a hardware problem. I've tried making a new account with administrator priveleges, but that doesn't solve my issue. Does anyone have any advice on how I can connect to the internet under my normal user account, rather than in safe mode? I should note that I won't be able to get my hands on my repair CD or perform a clean install of OSX because that stuff is at home, and I'm in college. Also, I'm at a university and don't have a router. I just use the campus-wide wi-fi. Finally, my roommate has no problem accessing the internet in our room via ethernet or wi-fi, but I do. Thanks for the help everyone.
