I am having MacKeeper popup on my browser every time a new tab opens practically. Tune Up my Mac is also coming up occasionally as well as something called Mac Booster (I think?). I have notifications saying "congratulations you're a winner" and other spam of that sort and I have already moved all of the extensions on my google chrome setting and I am just not sure how to stop these...

Now every time I click something on a webpage I get a pop up for Facebook sign up or a MacKeeper window. Also getting weird double underlines under my usual links and it goes to adds for random websites.

I had a MacKeeper icon pop up on my dashboard and my screen tell me I needed to get this to clean up my Mac Pro and protect it from viruses. It looked legit because I wondered how it got onto my dashboard. I installed it but when I moved through the steps it then listed a price which I thought was suspicious. When I googled it many responses said it was a fraud. What can any of you in the community tell me about MacKeeper. If it's a fraud, how do I uninstall it. I tried dropping it in the trash, but it popped out.

I was just browsing on Safari when I went to a website and this mackeeper pop up ad came up. It tells me that to keep my mac safe or whatever, I have to install this mackeeper thing. I knew it was a virus so I was trying to figure out how to close it but there is no option to close it, the only option is to click ok. i've tried command+w and that doesn't work either. I have also tried to force quit safari but when I open up safari again, it re-opens the tab. i got my macbook in january of this year, i really don't want it to get a virus lol.

Why does "mackeeper" ad keep popping up on my screen?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy mac book pro keeps switching from google home page to "search only" or "only search" in my safari preferences and if I google something it redirects to use the yahoo search engine. I also keep getting macKeeper and zeboit pop ups. I have never downloaded macKeeper and can't find the virus or malware in my apps, downloads, or finder. Someone told me it was my adobe flash player so i deleted that and anything else that looked like garbage on my mac but nothing has changed.

So I was attracted and and etertained with the ad of the MacKeeper program because I saw comments that it removed a lot for their macbooks, so i downloaded it and used it. Unfortunately, it removed the Windows partition (not really the partition), which I really need now. It didn't remove the partition but it cleared the system cache. I discovered it when i downloaded a hybrid for my BlackBerry (sorry Apple,. I'm going to switch to an iPhone soon. ) and the file I downloaded can only be used on Windows. So i turned the mac off, (to switch to windows via holding the "alt/option", and to my surprise, it didn't show the Windows partition! So i was wondering, how can I get the Windows partition b ack without reformatting and installing again since i have all the important files there?

I downloaded Mackeeper and it told me junk was slowing down my Mac but after it asked for $88 i quickly uninstalled it. Im worried it left a virus that slowed down my Macbook Pro. Even tho everyone says Macs don't need antivirus ware, is there something i can run to make sure there isn't anything harmful leftover? Also what is safe to use to clear out junk to improve how my Mac runs?

Then my mac was crashed and i had to upgrade to newer version and did the partition on the hard disk as well,Before it was only one drive now its 2
Now is there any way to recover those files.
i install Mackeeper and tried using data recovery ,but its not those files which I actually saved on Mackeeper.

I somehow got this MacKeeper program popping up on my screen every few seconds. I also think this program is interfering with other programs on my computer. Now my computer runs slower and start up takes a lot longer. How to take this MacKeeper off my computer. FYI, I deleted every know MacKeeper file on my hard drive, still to no avail.

When I open up Safari, I have it open to a designated home page.
HOWEVER, 9 times out of ten, if I click "log in" to the home page site, Mackeeper pops up.
I am running OS X Yosemite. Had my 15" MacBook Pro since it was new......2009.
Also, my sound does not always work. Through the lap top built in speakers, sometimes through a head set and sometimes through my bluetooth.
Sometimes videos will not play.

I have, what seems to be a common, an issue with pop up tabs regularly appearing across all browsers advertising 'MacKeeper'. I understand this is a trojan or malware.
I have tried to combat the problem by removing various files as suggested on other threads, removed extensions from my browsers, and today re installed OS X on the recommendation of Apple's online chat team, but am still experiencing the issue.
