Why I cannot create with my keyboard letters?

MacBook Air
Yesterday, I bought a new 60W Macbook charger. Today, I charged my Macbook and when I turned it on, the keyboard was typing in foreign letters. Restarting didn't help.

all of a sudden tonight my keyboard is missing out letters when i type and when i go back and hit the key again it wont work but if i wait a minute or 2 it works but it happens with all the keys not just one in particular and sometimes now they seem to stick so if i press the letter "a" it will come out as aaaaaaaaa
my trackpad is staring to go where it wants to even when i'm not touching it and also when i use 2 fingers to zoom i have to lift my 2 fingers off the trackpad twicee sooo that it actually works
My keyboard only types CAPITAL LETTERS. When I restart the computer it is taking ages to boot and words "Boot Safe" appears in red on the screen. Mail search is not working and nor is spotlight

My 2009 MacBook keyboard won't type letters. just the number keys and symbols work...any advise?. Is this a setting issue. No physical damage. Also the track pad acts like only secondary click works. When I tap or click it activates "secondary" function

View 2 Replies View RelatedHaving been a mac owner for a few years now, I guess it actually shows the quality of the product that this is the first time I've had to post on this site.I've recently upgraded from my 2008 model MacBook to an early 2011 model MacBook Pro 17" with Lion. This machine was brand new when I purchased it, and is a very lovely bit of kit.
The problem comes from the sleep functionality. Approximately one time of three, when I resume from sleep, the keyboard will be malfunctioning. What I mean by this is that when I type letters, they come out as symbols instead. I haven't been sharp enough to get a direct mapping of A-Z yet (I will do next time), but these aren't the 'ALT' key symbols, they're more like this (which is what I typed into Notepad last time this happened)In order to resolve this, I need to restart the computer, which, thus far, has resolved the issue every time. That said, it's a bit of a pain, so would like to know what's going on and if there is any way to prevent it.
All the software on the mac is up to date at time of writing, there have been no expansions to the machine (yet), so it's exactly as shipped. It's the 2.2GHz i7 Quad Core device, and is the first one supporting the thunderbolt graphics connector. Could it be a hardware problem (if so, I want to return it asap to get it sorted).

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)
I've already tried basic methods of resolving this issue i.e. resetting and unplugging and replugging the keyboard and my keyboard still won't type letters or numbers. The only kind of response I get by typing the keys is the keyboard will performing shortcut commands like save and open, etc. without holding control or alt, it does it when I press the letter keys by themselves.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy keyboard is typing letters and numbers. It only happens on the first two rows, (i.e., q1, w2, etc.) I have checked the settings, they seem ok.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMaybe I'm just not used to it, but one annoying quirk I have found with mac keyboards (I recently bought a 20 inch iMac) is the keyboard is always giving me double letters when I type that I always have to go back and edit out.
I already went to system preferences and changed sensitvity and repeat settings to the slowest.
It's ridiculous in how inaccurate it is; has anyone else experienced this problem and/or have any suggestions? Just in writing this paragraph I've had to fix at least 10 times.
No other keyboard has given me such fits before.
My Mac keyboard's entire top row of letters isnt working, therefore I cannot log into my account?

I left my macbook pro open for along period of time, I am not sure if its as gone to"power save" mode. But it was not in sleep mode. After I open it some of the letters in my mac book pro is not working anymore. Num lock is not working, plus sign is not working, number six is not workingletter "y" "m" "h" is not working too

So I started using my MacBook Pro as a device I connect to my TV. I have an HDMI adapter, and, after setting up the display and sound, it is awesome! I even purchased a Trackpad so I can sit on my couch and navigate. The cost of the adapter and Trackpad are more than paid for with my canceling of cable.Â
Anyway, my question is about the virtual keyboard in OS X. It doesn't happen often, but I sometimes have to type in a user name or password for sites. I know how to go through "System Preferences", "Universal Access", and then "Keyboard Preferences" to turn it on, but is there a faster way?Â
What I really want to know is if I can create a shortcut in my dock for the virtual keyboard?Â
If not, does anyone know of any third party, virtual keyboard applications that would work this way?Â

i have a 13in macbook before the intel core duo so i have TWO enter buttons, but they both dont work now. I tried using the keyboard shortcuts under system preferences to make a shortcut to do the same thing as the enter button but no luck. I dont know what to do now.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI created an Automator Service to restart my computer in Bootcamp (since I was getting very tired of having to navigate to the Startup Disk Prefence pane every time). What I would like to do, is make this service have a global keyboard shortcut. However, when I try to set one in the Keyboard Shorcuts preferences (i.e. double-clicking and holding down the desired keys), my computer just beeps at me.Â
I thought maybe it was not allowing the specific shortcut I was trying - thinking maybe it was already in use. So I tried many other key combinations - enough to come to the conclusion that this was not the issue.Â

I'm trying to create a keyboard shortcut for the Dev1 menu:What should I put in the shortcut preferences? I've tried:

I've been trying to create a keyboard shortcut for Preview (and perhaps it would work in Safari) so that when I click command and arrow up, the cursor will jump to the top of the document. For example, I'm reading on page 450 of a pdf file and want to go back to the top I'd have to grab the tiny, tiny doodah on the right side of the page and drag it all the way up. In Windows (I do have two Macs and two Windows PCs) you click on control-up arrow and it happens. I tried to modify the keyboard shortcuts in Lion and it does let me do it, but it doesn't work.
I click on System Preferences, Keyboard, Keyboard Shortcuts, Application Shortcuts. It gives me a choice to add a shortcut by clicking on the plus sign, then I I select Preview and it gives me the choice to write the Menu Title (this is probably the problem) and I write gototop (go to the top of document) and then on Keyboard Shortcut I press command and the up arrow. But it doesn't work. Where do I find the Menu Titles for all programs?

I have a problem with the non capitals of the letters N and P. When I press them normally nothing happens but when I hold down shift I get the capital. So it seems it is no hardware problem?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have found a previous conversation, see community converation titled:Â Label Y-Axis as letters, not numbers?
it describes how to do what I want. I understand this described process but I cannot figure out where to place the "lookup" formula for it to work. Do I select the whole table, one column, etc. I have tried to recreate the screen shot sample but get stumped at the formula placement. I need to graph reading levels from a-z with the y-axis being letters not numbers and this old conversation has created this. I have been searching the web for 4 hours and got no where until I found this discussion and now I am so close...
