I am ready to purchase a MBA; however, I am in the Army and have to use the Army ID card (CAC card) to access certain areas on Army websites.  Does anyone know if the software required to run the CAC card reader can run on the MBA OS or will I have to use Boot Camp or some other software to run MS Windows vista or 7?

I have reset Safari and even clean up my hard drive with Onyx. Please help!!! Also, I have seen other post regarding this problem and I have clicked on the links for software for parasites but they all seem to be for Windows. I am running Safari on a Macbook 10.4.11

Applications :: Macbook Won't Connect To Certain Websites

Apr 16, 2010

I don't think I've got anything blocked as far as a firewall goes. I've tried connecting to [URL] and [URL] and it won't connect. Other sites work fine. I tried my neighbor's W-LAN and I couldn't connect either but he connected to squarespace on his macbook pro, so I think it's something with my computer and not my apartment's W-LAN connection.

MacBook :: Loading Websites - How To Configure

May 30, 2010

Two days ago I started noticing this annoying problem whenever I wanted to load a page. The page never loads at first, forcing me to press refresh in order to see its content.

I didn't install anything nor changed any configurations.

I called a friend with a Win Vista PC and everything was fine in his computer.

I tried the Safari, Firefox, Chrome and Opera browsers. The problem subsists in every one of them.

My router is a Pirelli DRG A223G and I've never had any problems with it.

I alredy tried switching it off, reseting it, turning off and on my airport, restoring my disk, cleaning the browser's cache and info, etc..

Does this sound like a familiar or know issue/fix, that would help me tremendously.

MacBook Pro :: What Will Non-optimized Websites Apps Look Like

Jun 14, 2012

I await my next gen MBP, I'm starting to be concerned that 95% of the web and non-optimized apps are go into look. How will the new display handle non-optimized content? Given that is very expensive notebook is going to be a relatively small market, I can't imagine web and app designers ate going to spend anlot of effort optimizing things for such a relatively small number of users. So, will existing web sites look as good as they do now on conventional displays...and the optimized sites and apps (like I'm sure Apple will roll out) look amazing?

I've read a bit about this, but most reviews say things like "until web designers update their graphics, things will remain fuzzy".

Jun 28, 2014

I can't get my macbook air to connect to some website. Most are running fine but the few that dont work say that they cant connnect. I've cleared my cache and when I try to look them up on disk utility it comes up as "Request time out". The only solutions I've seen is to turn off IVP6 but I don't have that option, I can only switch it to local only and that still doesnt work. I've cleared my cache and restarted I dont know what else to do.

MacBook Pro :: Not Accessing Some Secure Websites

Jun 6, 2014

Have updated clock and Apple ID locations. For some reason I am not able to access some bank websites from my Macbook, I just get a "Safari can't open the page "xxxxx" because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server "xxxxxxx". I can access these sites on the same network with my iPad. These are the options I have eliminated:

BROWSER: Tried Safari, Firefox, Chrome. all with the same result (different message of course).

MODEM: I have connected the Macbook to different wifi networks (home and at work) with the same result, so it is not a modem issue.

I currently write this post at work on a Mac Mini. The Mac Mini CAN access these websites without issue. This leads me to conclude that something deep in the duldrums of the MacBook itself is preventing access to these types of websites.Macbook Pro is late 2012 model running Mavericks 10.9.3..Work Mac Mini is running Lion 10.7.5

MacBook Pro :: Websites Not Encrypted - Can't Recognize Certificate

Sep 3, 2010

Are any of you having this problem? Yesterday I installed the most recent patch from Apple in my Macbook Pro, cant remember the number of it, sorry about that. Today I noticed a serious fault in my computer. When Im trying to access any website that is supposed to be encrypted (ie. Paypal, banks, etc) they arent encrypted or are only partially encrypted. I am pretty sure that this wasnt happening before. I havent installed any software recently and everything was working fine until yesterday, the day I installed the security update. So I guess its not a coincidence. When I try it on Firefox the websites are not encrypted and when I try it on Safari I get a warning from Safari saying that it cant recognise the certificate or that is invalid. Any of you have experienced this?

After testing this on two different networks, same problem. For instance, I'll try to go to Google.com, works fine. Then I'll go to gmail.com, wont work. Go to drudgereport.com, go back to gmail.com and it works. This is happening with all websites. Sometimes they'll work, sometimes they wont. When they aren't, if I wait a few minutes, they suddenly work again.

MacBook Pro :: Arranging Shortcuts Of Websites In Safari?

Mar 12, 2012

Earlier when i was using Internet Explorer in windows, i used to save in Favourites the various links of common web sites which i used to visit for avoiding searchng for these web sites again and again. Now, after switching to Apple, when i started using Safari, i was looking for similar Favourite folder to save common bookmarks, but i did not find any. Instead, i got one folder as Popular, which i feel as equivalent as Favourite in internet explorer.

Now, to organise the links in alphabetical order, i am unable to organise, since i did not find any option for the same.

MacBook Pro :: White Screen When Trying To Open Many Websites?

Jun 19, 2014

Many websites, if not all the ones I frequent no longer load. Instead I'm left with a white page that loads instantly whether I click on via Google search results or direct input. But if I use Bootcamp into Windows 8.1 the internet works fine, which means something has gone wrong on the OS X side of things. I've tried using different browsers to no avail.

For example:

I wanted to Google "oru kayak reviews" and Google gave me all the usual results.

However, once I click on a link among the Google search results all I get is a white page and a url that reads: [URL] ...

Now if you click it you might get the resulting page, but for me its a white page.

Same thing applies if I were to type in directly to the address bar, like "theverge.com" for example all I get is a white page.

But for websites associated with Google or Apple for example, like YouTube and the Apple Forums here, they load just fine.

On my mom's Macbook Air and everyone's iPhones the internet appears to work just fine as well.
