Nov 24, 2010I'm trying to print an Excel 2004 .xls spreadsheet file where I'm using to record attendance for the class I teach.I have my main Column A with Rows A-X and it shows up fine, I imagine because there is content in the boxes.
But I also have Columns B-L and rows A-X with nothing in their cells, but when I print it, they won't print.I need these blank because I'll check them off if the child in the first column attended the lesson. How do I make it so my many blank cells will print as well?
OS X :: Unable To Print In Linux Print Server / Not Creating Printer
Dec 27, 2010I'm new to Mac OS X, but have been working with Linux for almost 9 yrs now. I have set up a Linux box with CUPS 1.3.9. I can print from the server, and from other Linux stations to that remote server. However, I can't print from a client MacBook.
I set up CUPS on the client Mac via http://localhost:631 and created a printer associated with the remote queue / printer on Linux (the URL I use on OS X is http://mylinuxserver:631/printers/hpprinter and the driver is RAW).
I have no problems sending a test page from the CUPS web interface on Mac OS X to the Linux server -- the test page gets printed OK. However, I can't see the printer I just defined from other Mac OS X apps, and neither can I see it from the Add Printer Dialog on System Preferences (it's empty).
I tried creating the printer at the Add Printer dialog, but it would neither let me specify an HTTP URL (as far as I know, I had to use the IP icon on the toolbar) nor specify "RAW". So I tried creating a "dummy" printer in the Add Printer dialog, with a basic config, and then changing it from the CUPS web GUI. This didn't work either, since when I went back to the Add Printer dialog, the printer was gone.

Hardware :: Print Some Stuff Off Using Adobe - Unable To Print?
Jun 29, 2009i'm trying to print some stuff off using adobe and some parts are printing, but some aren't. I've had this problem before i would print of some formula sheets for my finance class and basically if it wasn't a letter it wouldn't print it off but now it's taking out a lot more.
in the first picture you can see how i went through and wrote the stuff in, wasn't that big of a deal.
second picture is one page from the file that printed out fine
third picture, the entire top part is supposed to have a paragraph on it.

Feb 4, 2012Excel 10.1.4 running on OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). I am suddenly unable to print any Excel documents. Nothing happens when selecting print. Under page setup, when seleting options the settings are blank. When using the up/down arrows, page attributes is checked, but upon releasing the arrows, the settings remain blank. this is true of all old douments and any new ones. The printer is a HP930C. All other applications are blank. I understand that this is probably a Microsoft issue but have been unable to access/find a Mac Excel forum or trouble shooting area. (Yes all these applications and the printer are old).

Aug 9, 2009I am new to Mac and have been struggling with this issue for the last week or so: there are a few websites I cannot access anymore (such as www.westpac.com.au, www.telstra.com.au, www.optus.com.au and a few others). As far as I can guess it is not:strictly *.au website related (or at least I think) because I can access some others *.au websites and some other in *.com or *.fr don't work either. My ISP (iinet in Australia) as the websites mentioned above work from my PC when I connect it from home. Below the result from a PING on the first 2 websites in the list above:

I have this issue from both my iMac and my Macbook Air, on which I have set up no firewall or other specific filter. I am using a Belkin modem, on which I have desactivated the WiFi to use a TimeCapsule as a WiFi router. I get the same issue when I try to connect from Safari, Firefox or Chrome. I have exhausted all tips and tricks I have from the PC word.

OS X :: Safari On Leopard Unable To Find Certain Websites?
Dec 12, 2007Just got my first Mac (24 inch iMac) a couple of weeks ago and overall, I am quite happy. Like it all except for the Mouse (more on that later). I have had a couple of bizarre issues with Safari that I would like some feedback on.
1. Twice in the last two weeks, Safari has gotten itself in a state where it simply will not display certain web pages. For example, the last time, it complained that it could not find google. Other sites displayed fine. The site wasn't down. Firefox had no problems accessing it. Clearing the cache and a complete reset did not help.In the end, I actually had to reboot before Safari started finding google again.
2. I have had some problems getting Safari to accept proxy settings. I often VPN into work and during that period, I have to turn proxies on and once I disconnect, I turn proxies off. I noticed that I have to do things in a certain specific order for Safari to pick up the proxy changes. I first have to turn the proxies on, then connect with VPN and once I am done, I have to turn the proxies off and then disconnect. If I don't do things in that order, Safari behaves as though the change in proxy settings was not made at all.
I tried Apple tech support but I got a rather clueless individual on the other end of the line and I spent an hour plus with her trying all sorts of things that accomplished precisely nothing.This was a brand new iMac with just a Cisco VPN, Firefox and a VNC client installed on it - so I thought some of my problems would be rather easily reproducible.
That apart, I have enjoyed the experience. Pretty much everything else worked like a charm except for the mouse which I already detest. I'll spare you my litany of complaints on that but I am replacing it in short order - probably with a Logitech MX400.
Software :: Unable To Connect / Cannot Access Certain Websites
Jan 5, 2006I am having trouble accessing select websites (apple.com, usps.com, timewarnercable.com, vivalavinyl.org, amongst others). I tried with Safari, Firefox, Opera, IE, but to no avail. I used to be able to access these sites with no problem, and I am truely baffled as to why I can't get to them all of a sudden.
Here'S the error message I get in Firefox:
Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.apple.com.

May 1, 2009Certain websites I try to access are unable to display. They give me the "standard" cannot connect to the server error. [URL]. Other computers in the house operating on the same wireless connection can access these sites fine... so I think something is mis-configured on my machine somehow. Jan 18, 2010Just installed a new router - a D-Link Dir-825. I am unable to load anything in Safari or Chrome, and Mail will not go online. Only Firefox works. I've flushed my DNS cache in Terminal (I think...) but that didn't work. D-Link does not "support Safari".

Apr 30, 2012I have previously had no trouble viewing pdf files from various websites, however am now unable to. It appears to be loading and then just comes up with a blank screen. I am able to view pdf files which have been emailed without problem. I have removed Acrobat Reader & reloaded but this has not helped. I am able to view pdfs on our laptop & ipad and the settings appear to be the same.Â

OS X :: Guest Account On Leopard / Unable To Access HTTPS Websites
Jul 21, 2010I really like the guest account feature that Leopard (and I'm assuming Snow Leopard) provides.I just got my first Macbook Pro... about a year old running Leopard... part of a client deal (you Mac people just got another application developer interested ).
Anyway.. I'm wondering... I"m getting rid of a few of my other computers on craigslist in the coming weeks and my girlfriend always wants to check her facebook. I'd prefer not to have her accidentally close something important so I setup & configured the guest account. I installed the server admin tools to fully customize the dock/etc.
Two questions however:
1: Thus far the guest account cannot access HTTPS (secure sites) websites. Not in Safari or Google Chrome. Is this an option somewhere? Something I'm missing? I've tried googling for about 30 minutes and have come up blank.
2: Without overwriting the default profile setup (incase I ever want to create new profiles)... is there a way to set a few default things for the Guest user? FOr instance... I know it wipes everything on close... I want it to remember that Google Chrome & Safari have run before (annoying that it asks "do you want this to be the default browser?.. or running the initial safari video).
Feel free to get as technical as you want... as I said I'm a seasoned linux & windows developer getting into the Mac world .
OS X Mavericks :: Print Icon Tends To Stay On Dock After Print Job Is Done And Disorder Print Queue
Jun 28, 2014I have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer! Â
It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.Â

May 12, 2010I can't print to my network computer after 10.6.3. I can however print using Parallels, but I can't print from say preview or any other OSX based software.
The printer is an HP 4200 Laser jet that I access through an ethernet on my work network. I'm the only Mac in the office and am getting ridiculed for not being able to print from OSX.I tried downloading the HP drivers and re installing them but no luck...

Oct 13, 2009All of a sudden we can't print anything. Have a couple of Macbook Pros, an iMac and two printers hooked up to Expresses through our Airport Extreme network. Printing usually works fine, now, nothing! When we go to print, the macs act as though everything's okay, but the printers don't respond. I tried hooking my macbook pro directly to one of the printers, and still nothing. Mysterious and I can't figure out how to even see what the problem is.

Apr 12, 2010I moved up to the HP P1006 since my 1020 was not compatible with 10.6. It has been working great until a hotel sent me a receipt in pdf format. I open the file try to print from the pdf and from the mac, both ways and I get this:

I am not a techie, and have no idea what that means. Anyone have an idea?
