I was trying to delete a folder and it got stuck under the documents folder on sidebar... How do I move it? MacBook Air 11 inch 10.7.3

I have tried go to Preferences-->Sidebar in Finder and deselect everything but the folder remains in my sidebar. I am unable to select/highlight the folder in Sidebar. I have tried to drag the folder into the trash or to my desktop, but nothing happened. I just remains in Sidebar. I have also tried to locate the folder anywhere on my computer/HD, but it's nowhere to be found.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just recently set it up on my Mac that all of my documents that would normally be in the Documents folder are now on my iDisk, in another folder named Documents. I've created a local copy of my iDisk so that my stuff is always in sync. However, just to make it easier on myself, what I would like to do is delete the (now empty) Documents folder in my Home folder, and replace it with an alias for the local iDisk documents folder. That way, I can still go into the Home folder as usual, but the Documents folder there will just point me directly to the local iDisk location. However, OS X isn't letting me do that - I can't delete the Documents folder to replace it.

all About 20mins ago a shortcut appeared in my Finder sidebar, for something called Untitled CD. Instead of having an eject button next to it, like an actual cd would have, this has a black and yellow wheel next to it. This is of particular annoyance to me, as i am now unable to burn any CD's. Instead a message pops up saying burn is currently in use by another program. I have tried everything to delete it, but it just wont go! Whats more interesting is that I have a macbook air, and the icon appears even when my external dvd drive isn't plugged in.

I accidentally moved "My Pictures" folder from the My Favorites sidebar in Finder, and I can no longer find the folder. I've searched "all my files" for a My Pictures folder and nothing has come up, not even in the trash (that I haven't yet emptied). I am wondering if there is anyway of getting this folder back, as I had several pictures and folders organized within that My Pictures folder. All of my pictures are somewhere still on my computer but even they are hard to locate now without them being in any folder. Would be difficult to have to re-organize every single thing that was in that folder.

I am running in Lion. when I restart in 10.6.8 they are gone. but when I go back to Lion, they are still there and I cannot move them to trash. It did drag, but it wouldnt stay in the dock, when I let go of the drag, it vanished in a puff of smoke. How do I get it back in the sidebar, it was pretty helpful over there. Just to be clear I'm talking about when I open a new finder window, I see a few folders under 'Places' --> Desktop, Applications, Documents and My name which is the home folder. Now all I see is Desktop, Applications, and documents. How do I get it back if possible, and when I do how do I put it on the dock? Next to apps and downloads folder? Nevermind I found out how to add it. CMD+, for finder prefs, and then sidebar. I still have no idea how to put the home folder on the dock now.

Is it possible to keep a folder from a network as a favorite in the Finder Sidebar, even after the networked computer has been restarted? In the course of the week, the folders I place in my favorites remain (we keep our computers on all week), but we shut down on the weekends, so come Monday morning, all of the networked folders are absent from the sidebar. I'm attempting a work-around by creating folders in my user/Home that then have aliases of the respective folders, then placing that in the sidebar, but I'd love to avoid this work-around.Â

As I was going through things to delete in the trash, I accidentally deleted the "All Documents Folder", now I can't get any of the apps to work. I haven't emptied the trash bin. So I thought maybe I could copy them back to my desktop, well that wasn't a good thing since there was like 12,000 files and it really slowed the laptop down. So I thought I would do a complete clean install using the original start up disk. Well following the instruction to restart the computer, after the restart I get a diagonal screen and can't read it because the picture is staggered. So I eject the install disc and restart the laptop and everything is fine, but still can't open anything, because it says app can't is in the trash.

I accidentally dragged a document into the top bar of the finder. Now when I open the finder, there is a document on the top of the gray bar at the top of the finder window. When I try to click on it to drag it away, it automatically opens the document. Does anyone know how to get rid of this?

Now, I like to keep my Documents folder neatly organized and this My Kindle Content folder kind of messes things up a bit - I really don't like seeing this folder in my Documents folder. question: Does anyone know how to move this folder to another location? I've tried to browse the Kindle app, but I haven't found any obvious way to move it. However, I may have overlooked it. Also, I have tried to browse the Forums to see if someone else asked this question already - no luck yet. Has anyone out there had the same problem? View 3 Replies View RelatedJust came back from the Genius Bar at Apple Amsterdam. Both iTunes and iPhoto had problems launching and libraries were not loading. Ruled out hardware problems so they tried installing OS Snow Leopard over my 10.5.8 in a way to keep my documents safe. All went well until halfway it said it couldn't install succesfully. Made a new appointment for in 3 days from now. They would then overwrite the current OS with the new one so i should go home and make sure to back up all my files in the meantime. Problem is that when i came home and started my laptop i got a blank/white screen with a blinking documents folder symbol with a question mark in it! Does anybody know what it means and will i be able to ever make a back up of my documents?
