When running windows 7 x64 my microphone does not work. I have tried on both Skype and AIM. I can hear my friends but they cannot hear me. When I log into OSX it works fine.

My MBA gives out squeaking sound around bass beats. Doesn't happen all the time, but when it does happen, it irritates me. When I listen to the same song on the iphone, I get a very clear sound. Can anyone do this for me? Can you listen to "Speak to me/Breathe" by Pink Floyd on your headphones / earphones if you have that track? Along with the first few heartbeats, I hear squeaking noises. Do you hear anything like that?
This squeaking noise could also happen sometimes when I am minimizing / maximizing windows, or doing something processor intensive.
I just bought a new MacBook pro 1 week old. I partioned my hard drive and installed a clean copy of Windows Vista Ultimate on one side. I then downloaded skype, but my internal microphone will not work. I tried everything. Can someone help me out with this issue.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy wireless internet connection is "shotty". The desktop that it is connected to works fine, however, for the last few days my MacBook has been having trouble. The connection will just hang. I can click on the "wireless icon" in the upper right, click "Open Network Preferences" and then click "Assist Me" then "Diagnostics..." and run that. It will pick it back up and say it is connected. It will work for a good 10 minutes, then I have to repeat the process. I have restarted my MacBook as well as restarted the "box". Any ideas? My TV runs via the internet (U-Verse) and it never hangs or freezes when my MacBook does, also the desktop was working fine at the same time as the TV was working fine but my MacBook was hanging. Also my old Compaq hangs as well. I think the TV is wireless too? The box is in a different room, but like I said it never freezes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAround 2 months ago, the local AASP techs, working together with Apple Asia techs, finally agreed to replace the top case, fans, and superdrive of my uMBP. At that time, neither the tech nor myself could detect any vibration on the uMBP keyboard, and I took my uMBP home satisfied. After a month, I thought I was beginning to feel some vibration on the TAB key, but it was so slight I dismissed it as something psychological, perhaps even trauma from the previous episode which lasted for weeks. Now it's back with a vengeance. I treat my uMBP with kid gloves. I clean its whole surface every week.
I rarely take it anywhere. I've never bumped or dropped it. I've even bought an external keyboard and mouse so that I won't wear its keyboard and trackpad. In fact, I've even restricted my use of the 9600 graphics chip, preferring to use the 9400 as much as possible to avoid taxing the fans. I mean, if some/most keys were vibrating, then I could say that it could be a loose/poorly positioned keyboard/fan(s), but if it's only the bloody TAB key. I've gone through three fan changes and one top case replacement after all.
So I just got the 2.53 GHz 15.4" MacBook Pro, and I had the Windows 7 RC laying around so I partitioned the drive and installed it. It's running great, I really like it, but here's my problem. Windows and all applications can see the iSight camera, but not the Microphone. If I go into the Sound control panel and click on the Recording tab, the microphone is there, and when I say something I can see that Windows DOES see it, but no other application shows it. I have all the Boot Camp drivers installed.

I have done a lot of searches on the net and tried a lot of advice offered including some from this forum - reinstall driver, tick boxes, until boxes, scale up, etc. Its a 2008 iMac with XP SP3 installed on Snow Leopard. the driver is from Realtek. I have an important meeting to do on skype while having to run Windows application.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my new 2009 15" MacBook Pro. I have installed Vista and loaded my Boot Camp drivers. I am trying to use the built in microphone (in the left speaker) for Skype. It appears in the Sound menu in the control panel as a working audio input and sound recorder works perfectly as well. However, whenever I select the microphone in Skype, there is no sound. The mic comes up as a Cirrus Logic CS4206A(AB75) device. Again sound recorder is fine, its just Skype that won't get any input from the mic. I also tried this earlier in Windows 7 RC1 64 bit with no luck. Does anyone know how to use Skype in Boot Camp with the new MacBook Pro hardware?

I never had any issue with XP or Vista, and on S-Leopard it still working, so my question is -Have anyone here experienced any problem like this and is there a way out? So if I get an external one and plug it in, I'd rather not want to go buy an external mic and just have it not work still.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a 2wire 2701HG-B that I used to use on a windows via ethernet cable but I have this new imac so ive been goin wireless. unfortunately, i haven't been that successful.the internet sporadically goes out very often for a few minutes to twenty minutes all the time, daily. I would say that 50%-70% of the time I try to use the internet I can not. looking at the router, usually all the lights are green regardless of whether or not the internet is working, sometimes (like right now) the DSL light will flash red. When the light is red, the internet does not work but unfortunately the internet also does not work when the light is green.

If I am searching the web and go from one site to another (say from macrumors to gmail) I will get an error, usually "problem loading page" and that will happen for any new site I try to load. But, if I went back to macrumors in that same tab, I can use the site like normal. If I selected to open something in a new tab, the tab would give me the "problem loading page" yet if i clicked on the link in the original tab, it would load just fine.of course sometimes the internet goes out in all tabs, on all applications as well.I called ATT and they said they couldnt find any problems, then I called the local ATT to see if they were having problems and they weren't. they did offer to come down and be sure my chord is plugged in correctly for a fee.
I'm really starting to beleive that it's impossible to have a shared iPhoto library between 2 users on the same machine with SL. The library was in the shared folder and worked flawlessly until I upgraded to SL. If I uploaded pics, when my wife went to view them on her account, the pics show up and you can clearly see them there, but when she double clicks one of the pics, the pic just dissapears. Almost like she didn't have the proper permissions. I set her up with full read/write acesss before any of this btw.
I put a call in with Apple's tech support. The guy tells me to rebuild the thumbnail library and repair the iPhoto permissions. Seemed like a logical solution. Did that and it didn't help. Called Apple again and was told by this genious that if I wanted to share the library like this I should make a disk image that ignores ownership and put the library in there. He said I could do it on the internal HD or Put it on my Time Capsule and access it wirelessly. That sounded like a good idea, so I did that exactly the way he reccomended and guess what? IT STILL DOESN'T WORK!!!
I can mount the sparse image on my wife's account and see thousands of photos that were there previously no problem. But the ones I uploaded today from my user account I can look through all of the thumbs clear as day but when I double click one, it still friggin dissapears!
I want to know if anyone can point out the advantages and disadvantages of using a line-in microphone (for the 1/8" analog jack) compared to a USB microphone for a Mac Pro. Do I need some kind of amplification for a head-set microphone with a 1/8 analog jack? I can't get mine to work, but I wonder if there's something I haven't selected correctly in my Preferences.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo the other day I booted up into OS X and was going to make a short video in Photo Booth with my friend. I recorded a video, but when I tried to play it back there was no sound. I tried recording another video, this time yelling at the top of my lungs. This time when I played it back, I could hear my yelling very faintly. I decided to open up the System Preferences to see if the microphone was picking up any sound. The input level showed that there was a little bit of static, but the bar barely moved when I yelled. I opened up Skype and called "echo123" to see if Skype was picking up and sound. After the call recorded my sound, it played it back and to my surprise it sounded perfect.
It was like my microphone didn't have a single problem. I then opened up Photo Booth again and the System Preferences to see if it would pick up and sound from my microphone. And once again it would only barely pick up sound when I was yelling. After a few minutes, I finally decided I'd take my MacBook to the Apple Store. But before that, I decided I'd just try a little trick that worked on my iPod earbuds when one of them wasn't working correctly. I flicked my finger against the plastic right next to where the microphone is above the screen. I opened up System Preferences and to my amazement my microphone was now working perfectly!
I plugged in my microphone into the mic port on the left side of the computer. I am trying to use it for my Ustream feed but it is not recognizing it.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI opened up Photo Booth to record a video for YouTube today and realized that I had recorded my self for 7 minutes for almost no reason.
Photo Booth doesn't seem to be detecting my microphone at all, because when I play the clip i recorded, there is no sound. My speakers are on, trust me.
Also, other audio recording applications, such as Screenflow and Audacity are able to pick up the microphone easily.
I've ran the application with nothing else running and get the same result.
I have a stereo microphone with a jack of ~6 mm and I bought a converter to 3.5mm but.. it does not seem to fit into the socket, I dont want to push harder to break anything there. Even if it fitted I still dont know if it would need additional software. Does anyone know how to connect it?

I am trying to reduce the sample rate of the microphone from 44k to 22k to use less bandwith when I talk to other players. I always break up when I talk. There is no option to do that in the sound settings. Is there a way to do it? I have a macbook pro 15' 2.5 ghz intel 2 core duo. With 3gb of Ram.

I've been trying to narrate a voiceover in iMovie today, and the sound quality from the internal microphone is terrible! Muffled and ringing machine noise in the background. I've tried changing settings. I've tried running it off the battery instead of the power supply - in case it was related in interference from the power supply. I've tried different software. GarageBand and Audacity. Oh - and the fan wasn't running when I tried to record stuff.
The thing is - I remember the internal Microphone working much better before. I've made a couple of things for YouTube, and I didn't have a problem then.
Is it plausible that the Microphone has gone wrong now? Is this a known issue with the aluminium MacBook (Pro)?
- If an external Microphone would solve things - is there anything I should know about what kind to buy? I don't want to invest in anything expensive - I don't use it enough. I know that Apple's sound-out jack is designed for specialised headphones. (Although normal headphones sometimes work if you wiggle them a bit). Is there anything unusual about the sound input jack?
I bought a MacBook Pro I'm happy with the purchase.

I am just looking for a little help with my Early 08 white Macbook. It is running 10.6 just in case you were wondering. But the problem I am having is that I can not get a microphone to work on the damn thing. I have tried 2 different microphones on it, both in through the line in and I have tried line out too and neither of them worked. View 2 Replies View RelatedSo the internal microphone on my 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro just decided to stop working a few months ago. In the sound tab of system preferences I get nothing. Although when Skyping with it, the person I'm talking to says they can hear some kind of noise when I tap the left speaker (where I assume the mic is at.) I didn't use it all that much but it was pretty handy for when I needed to record a spontaneous song with my guitar. It had rather good quality.
