View 5 Replies View Related3yr old black MacBook has bad memory slot. Will not boot with chip installed. Tried swapping chips and slot 1 or 2 and its the slot. So at least computer works. What are the odds 2nd slot will fail? Is that rare? Is it just a bad solder connection on main board for memory terminal? Or some tiny hidden board trace or other hard to find component?

As a filmmaker, the expresscard slot allows on-site ingestion of Sony's and Panasonic's SxS and P2 cards - a nice utility. I also don't use point-and-shoots, so the SD card has zero utility for me.I just wanted to make sure that, before I buy the previous revision, there is nothing I will be missing by purchasing the older edition. I remember that they widened the color gamut on the MBPs by 30% with the update, but this is really insignificant as their color accuracy isn't thaaaat great anyway.

The problem is that when i connect it to right USB port it works flawlessly, but when i connect it to my left USB port - my macbook pro recognizes the device but it doesn't send any midi data - to put it in other way: it is not working.
I have checked, everything is working fine In the LEFT usb port( wireless mouse, external HDD, Flash drives, Iphone) except my MIDI Keyboard.

I'm setting up a printer on a Macbook to use a printer shared from Windows 7. Followed the tutorials I found for the network side of things and that seems to be fine (Mac send unprintable files to the Windows print queue).
The problem is the print driver on the Mac. The printer is a HP PSC 1315. It's not on the list when you Select Drivers during printer setup and even after loading the HP 111 updated, still no joy.
I downloaded the 1315-specific driver package and ran the installation but I have no idea how to find the driver to use during printer setup.
I just downloaded and installed the new Canon drivers from their website that are supposed to support Scanner/Printer functions for my MX870 with Yosemite, but when I go to Settings for Printer/Scanner and try to add the printer from the wireless network, the computer does not detect it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo my paired Bluetooth PS3 controller just stopped connecting with my mid-2011 iMac today. It says it is connected in the drop-down Bluetooth menu, I can see the flashing red lights, but it no longer works with any of the games it did 1-2 days ago.
I did download USB Overdrive to use the PS3 controller plugged in (with Expendabros, which was crashing when I tried to use the controller wirelessly, a known bug) yesterday, and it worked with that. Anyway, I made sure Overdrive was not selected as active in System Preferences. I tried that little reset button on the controller itself. Charged it, of course (it was almost full anyway). Restarted my computer. Add resetting SMC and PRAM (the latter always makes me nervous, as it really screwed up my wifi settings once) to the list. I tried removing the device from the drop-down menu bar list and repairing, no luck. Is it odd that it is showing up in the drop-down list, but not in the list in Bluetooth System Preferences?
In addition, I looked at my System Profile, and the PS3 controller is listed as NOT paired...Lastly, I tried to find com.apple.Bluetooth.plist in "Preferences" under Library (to try deleting it), but I couldn't find it. I did find com.apple.I don't believe there were any OS updates recently that could have changed Bluetooth somehow.

Few days ago I used my Buffalo external HD and it was working fine. Today I plugged it in and it didn't show up on my desktop as before. It's running tho cause I could see the light from it and can hear it been reading but the MacBook is not showing it on the desktop and it has a lot of my important stuff.

It's been a while since I've been to these forums but I've come across another issue.
I bought this refurbished Macbook from Apple on November 26, 2008 (model MB061LL/B).
i used to put the card in and it would read it right away and appear on the desktop, but now i'm putting the card in and nothing is happening.
i'm assuming i have to take it into apple for repairs or whatever, but are there any protocols i don't know about that i should take before doing that?
Running a 2010 MBP Core i5 2.4GHz. I had Windows 7 originally installed. Gave me wireless problems and I gave up. Erased the partition. Installed Windows XP and everything was fine.
I got a new copy of W7 Professional x64. I installed it "over" the existing XP, though it erased the partition anyways (I don't care about that).The new 7 install has been giving me the same wireless problems. I downloaded and installed the Broadcom driver. Gave me a BSOD and restarted the computer. Now I have a BSOD on start up, too. On the OSX side of things, it no longer shows any Boot Camp hard drive. It doesn't recognize it at all. Though when I hold the option key on boot, it still shows the Windows install.
1. How do I fix the BSOD problem? (All caused by installing the driver)
2. Where the heck is the Boot Camp hard drive/partition?

second problem which is now the ram slot 2 (The Lower) isn't working properly, every time i run the computer it gives me that gray screen and tells me to keep holding the power button, but when i removed the ram slot 2 it works properly with only the upper slot ram, and to check the problem source, i switched between the upper and lower, and it worked properly but with out adding the upper slot in the lower space, so i knew that the problem now is 100% from the logic board.... right or is there an another way?
I just installed snow leopard and now my backlit keyboard is not working anymore. Iturn it up and down but nothing happens.
View 11 Replies View RelatedAfter 1.5 years of use, my hard drive suddenly failed. This was later confirmed by Apple Genius Bar. So I purchase a new SSD from OWC which was instructed to be compatible with my laptop model (MBP 13" early 2011). It arrived today and I did the installation carefully and successfully. However, after putting the back panel back in place I was unable to power up my laptop.
It was as if the power button is not working. Then I opened up the back panel one more time to realise that every time I click the power button (turn on), the fan started running, this can only be stopped by pressing the power button and held it (turn off). I tried placing my old hard drive and it doesn't work as well. I tried reset the SMC by holding power-shift-option but same result.
