Mac :: IMac SD Card Slot - System Does Not Accept SxS Express Cards?
Feb 1, 2010
I've recently purchased the iMac i7 quad; I know it has an SD slot but I'm wondering whether or not this takes SxS Express cards? These are the cards used with the innovative XDCAM's.Do the SxS Pro/Express/-1 cards fit in the SD slot? And if not, do I need some sort of USB card reader?
I have a question for you about the ExpressCard slot of the new MacBook Pros.. I'm going to buy (maybe today) my first Mac and I'd like to buy the 17", since I need a portable desktop replacement... one of the reasons why I'd like to buy the 17" (apart from the very nice screen resolution) is that it has an ExpressCard slot which enables you (I hope) to expand the capabilities of your MBP in the future... My question is if the ExpressCard is version 1 or 2, because I'd like to buy in the future an ExpressCard with USB 3 ports and only the ExpressCard 2 can support the specifications of USB 3 (5 Gbps), is it right? Do you think there will be USB 3 ExpressCards for the MBPs?
I am thinking about purchasing one of the early releases of the MBP 15", before they replaced the expresscard slot with the SD Card slot. As a filmmaker, the expresscard slot allows on-site ingestion of Sony's and Panasonic's SxS and P2 cards - a nice utility. I also don't use point-and-shoots, so the SD card has zero utility for me.I just wanted to make sure that, before I buy the previous revision, there is nothing I will be missing by purchasing the older edition. I remember that they widened the color gamut on the MBPs by 30% with the update, but this is really insignificant as their color accuracy isn't thaaaat great anyway.
First of all, sorry for my bad English.I want to buy a notebook (my first one). A macbook pro. I know that 17" model has the expresscard slot, and 15" has SD card instead. I'd like to know:Can the 15" model be equipped with expresscard slot? (that is, substitute SD by expresscard). If not, does any adaptor/converter exist on the market?Apart, which one is better (is more usable/useful), SD slot or expresscard slot?
i miss the expresscard a lot on the 15", but i need as much portable CPU power as possible so upgraded to i7.? i was using expresscard slot for CF reader for my DSL now i never use the SD slotany adapter from CF -> SD port ?or USB port -> SD slot adapter?
I need a wifi card for my MacBook Pro (preferably N, but G is OK), and an ExpressCard version seems the best choice, however I'm having a really hard time finding one in stores, much less one that I know is Mac compatible. It seems the PC-world's reluctance to move on from PCMCIA is slowing down progress in this area.
There must be an expressCard wifi card out there that works with a MBP running leopard. Does anyone know of one?
I would like to have two firewire devices connected to my MBP but would prefer not to share bandwidth. If I purchased a firewire express card would that provide me with a 2nd dedicated firewire bus. It seems based the express 34 bus architecture that this would work however.
The small slot under the cd/dcd slot, is that for picture cards? Just noticed it. Is there someplace I can go to read up on general things about this computer, seeing as it came with little info?
I have a MBP and I want to upload pics onto it from my SDcard from my camera. I put it into the memory card slot and i dont think it is recognizing it? Im not really sure what to do
As title, i've searched (on here and on Apple.com). Asked at my local Apple store and I can't find the answer. Apologies if it's been answered before, I just cannot find it.
I was just wondering if there is working driver out there for mac that would let my iMac read SDHC cards from the card reader i use now,, or would i have to buy a SDHC compatible card reader?
Instead of placing my sdhc card into the memory card slot on the imac I placed it by mistake in the dvd drive and it just swallowed it up and I have no idea how to get to it.
I have accidentally slot in my SD card into the disc drive. Is there anyway I can take it out again? Will apple charge me for this? It is still in the warranty period. Anyway, I have to pay if they charge me. So careless!!
Well first off let me say I was pretty intoxicated and not thinking straight. I took out my sd card out of my camera, and while looking dead on at my screen i reached over to the side and pushed my sd card all the way though.
After realizing what I did i proceded to panic, yell, curse, and punch myself in the forhead. I called my buddy who works at an Apple retail store and told me that if I brought it in and they had to open it up I would be charged for the part and labor (around$200+).
I again proceded to cuss and punch myself till he suggested I hold the 27'' beheameth sideways and jump up and down. Once I heard it drop i knew I had a solid chance of geting it out. Since there's the dust flaps in the superdrive slot it wouldn't just come out by shaking. I literally had to hold it sideways on my knee and take a hairclip in order to get it out.
I would like to set up a mac pro using Slots 1 & 2 for RME ADAT digital audio cards and move the graphics card (geforce GT 120 512mb) to slot 3 or 4 so that I can maximize slot speeds for multiple audio playback via logic. Is this possible?
Since I use my machine a lot for photo work, this new feature on the refresh was nice. Question is does anyone know if it's easy to swap the card reader out of the 2009's for the new SDHC reader?
Reading the tech specs on the site, seems to imply that the screen on the 27" will accept a displayport in? If so, does this mean that I can finally use the iMac's screen for my HDMI gaming console?
I have an eSATA drive that was formatted on Windows using Bootcamp. It is connected via an Express Card. I want to now format it for OSX. But when I boot to OSX I don't even see the drive. Is there something I have to do to enable the Express Card?
I was just going between sd cards, trying to empty one out to use for something. Then, suddenly, it stopped mounting. None of the cards that previously mounted before suddenly stopped. As if the SD slot itself had been gone bye-bye. No recognition. SD cards are just fine. We have about dozen of them but it all mounts perfectly on other two macs. Obviously, it's my MBP's problem. I have rebooted two times, with no luck. I inserted them slowly and fast and anyway I could.

If you have a 13" 2010 MacBook Air with the SD card slot, and you are looking for a card to expand the capacity of your MacBook Air, what is the max capacity card currently available that you can use in this slot. I hear that they have new cards with capacities of up to 2TB, but are these cards compatible with the SD card slot on the MacBook Air? (SDXC 2TB cards)
How many out there use their SD card slot on a consistent basis? I know I don't.How many would like to see an additional USB port or the express 34 slot, again?
i brought my mbp in aug 2011 from the usa without apple care. i am currently living in saudi arabia.i bought apple care from amazon usa and they shipped it to me ,, since apple store doesnt accept foreign credit cards and doesnt ship international.apple store saudia arabia doesnot have apple care.Â
on trying to activate apple care on my computer it sayss that it cannot be activated from this region

Two questions, wondering if anyone knows the answer:1.Looking for maximum bandwidth of ExpressCard/34 slot in MacBook Pro(Since eSATA raid is supported with ExpressCard, the bandwidth should be there. Looks like it has at least 70MB read/write?)2. Are there ExpressCard/34 SSD disks that runs faster than internal SATA drives? (Mtron seems to make only 2.5" and 3.5")
Installed Lion via the app store, now both of my eSATA drives are not mounting and the system proflier states that there is no IDE Controller Driver installed.
The SD card slot is only available on the 13 inch MBA. I'm just wondering if anyone has used it yet?I have an SD card in my digital camera but I'm not a huge picture taker so I haven't used it. I'm thinking of getting a 32GB SD card for extra storage to slide in there.
Rite now im trying to install my gtx 280 in my mac pro 1 but it will not fit in the first pcie slot. I know its pretty easy to get it in on the 2nd slot, but im just wondering if it will work? Or do all graphics cards have to be on the first slot? I read here that you can either put it in the first or second. So Im just making sure.
I already took the stock 7300 out of the 1st slot though.
