MacBook Pro :: 13" Temp Through The Roof When Surfing Youtube?

Jul 21, 2009

As the topic states, my macbook pro 13" temp shoots through the roof when surfing youtube but normal internet usage doesnt make any noticable change in temp.

From what I know the network is controlled by the CPU (since the macbook pro doesn't have its own network card, correct me if im wrong) which could explain the increase in heat but when I for ex. download something and its running at the max speed my broadband can handle it doesnt change the temp to any noticable degree either.

MacBook Pro :: Won't Work With CPU Temp / Sending Warning For High Temp

Mar 19, 2010

I downloaded a program to monitor my late 2008 unibody Macbook Pro's temperatures. Just a few minutes ago while playing music/playing an ONLINE game real briefly it warned me that my CPU temperature was too high. (167˚ F) Is that too high of a temperature? What should the "range" be?

MacBook Pro :: Won't Work With Temp / Temp Rise After 10.6.3

Apr 6, 2010

I have a MacBookPro5,4 2.53GHz with one fan and only the 9400M. After updating to 10.6.3 the operating temperature seems to have risen from about 43 degrees C to about 48. It has been getting warmer here in Japan so the ambient temperature is different but I still think this rise in temp. is due to the update. I have smcfancontrol installed and set to 2500rpm instead of the normal 2000, but it seems to be not enough to keep the temp. under control, as it did before the update. Any relatively hard use of the cpu and the temp goes up to 60 degrees.

Yes, I have heard that it is possible to install an omnidirectional antenna on my patio or roof to boost my wifi. Do I need to buy a router for that to work.
I have a pretty new mac desktop and I am want to boost my wifi. I heard that if I get a router it will only decrease my wifi distance because the internal on I have is stonger.

OS X :: Unable To Work With CPU Temp / Can't Control Temp

Nov 1, 2009

I was just adding some Quicklook plugins when my temps started to soar. I have restarted, repaired permissions, removed said plugins, and tried other accounts. Nothing is lowering the temps. Weird thing is is Activity Monitor is showing NOTHING using the processor nearly enough to jump my temps to 85 C with nothing running.

I'm "controlling" the issue for now by ramping my fans to full speed. Even with this I am hovering around 70 C...a good 10-15 C above what I am normally at (and was at 30 minutes ago).
*Note: Normally running fans at 6000rpm would give me temps in the mid to low 40 C range

In the last 10 min, it freezes twice already. Also, the trackpad seems to move slower & not very smooth. I just installed 4GB 800MHz RAM (it recognizes as 800MHz).

MacBook Pro :: Internet Painfully Slow Web Surfing

Jul 5, 2010

I got my first macbook pro about a month and a half ago, and everything has been working flawlessly. Recently however I have been experiencing extremely slow internet. It hasn't been a problem until recently when I noticed extremely slow web surfing. The download speeds seem to fine, but surfing the net is painful. I have firefox along with safari and both are equally slow. It is faster to surf some sites using my phones 3g service then my wireless internet. I have looked at mroogle and have tried some of the solutions on there and none of them seemed to work. I am using a linksys E1000 router and my airport has full bars. I don't know how run a speed test so I am not sure what my internet speeds are. I am not the best with computers, so if the solution is complex

PowerPC :: Ibook 14 G4 1.33 1.25RAM Surfing Slow?

Oct 19, 2008

I have an IBOOK G4 running Tiger 10.4.11, which recently I upgraded from 768M to 1.25G RAM. It has an 80G HD which has about 50G free. I use it generally email and surfing the web. Recently, it started to run slow. Seems to be while surfing the internet. I use Safari. While surfing a while back it became very slow to respond on web pages, mostly got the "spinning color wheel", and then got pretty hot and the fan came on, first time I have heard the fan since I have had it.

After researching, I downloaded Onyx maintenance program. After doing a thorough maintenance using Onyx, everything seems to be back to normal. Well, a few days later, after using laptop for quite a while roughly 1 1/2 hours, started to run slow while surfing again. Slow to respond, spinning wheel again, but the mouse (bluetooth) movement is never affected.

OS X :: Slow Surfing Speed But BitTorrent Is Fast

Nov 15, 2008

I think there's something wrong with my Mac. The surfing speed for web pages can be extremely slow, even when I checked bittorrent download speeds to be above 25kbps. Even for webpages like major sites like amazon.com and flickr. Any ideas if there's any setting I need to tweak. I've tried different browsers and it's still the same.

Here are some extra info:
- Max possible download speed 800kbps
- Torrenting and downloading at same time. I download small items so torrent speed is typically around 25kbps
- One other user in network. I'm using WiFi on a Buffalo router, and cable modem.
Problem starts after surfing for a while. Maybe 10-20 minutes after logging into the network.

When surfing the net (like right now) or just letting it idle, my hard drive makes a slight "clunk" sound like the HD arm is hitting the edge of the case (or maybe starting up and shutting down?). I recently performed the excess thermal compound removal procedure. Now I am worried that my cpu and heat sink are not in 100% contact, due to the very small amount of paste applied.
