Apr 14, 2012Ever since I updated to the latest version of Safari, it has been very slow loading webpages and is also a great memory hog. I have been using Firefox (now) and don't have these problems, but I would prefer to use Safari if it will work.

If I try it using Camino or Firefox, it works, but Safari and Chrome (that is webkit (= safari) based don't.
If I just type [URL] on the URL box, Safari and Chrome tell me that the server cannot be reached. The problem is that this https page is used during checkout, so I am not able to finish any order. I have even tried firefox on Ubuntu, inside VirtualBox and it works on the same machine. The problem is just Safari/Chrome.
The problem is not just with Apple. The same problem occurs with some other stores and sites using https around the web.

Jan 23, 2010it seems for me that Safari 4 is very slow at loading content. Most of the time, i am on broadband, but when i go over my limit, i get shaped to a much slower speed. (Typical Australia ISP!)
I noticed that while Safari loads a page, on the bottom toolbar, it says....

for example, on "ninemsn.com.au" it can take me quite a while for the page to load, as Safari does not load the content until ALL or most of the content has been downloaded.
is there a way/plugin for safari 4 to load content AS SOON as its been downloaded? I would like to see my pages load immediately as soon as the content has been loaded.

Apr 27, 2012I've been having a problem with Safari for the past few months it frequently freezes when loading web pages, sometimes it will eventually load, other times it wont. the blue progress bar in the address bar stops on about 10% with a plain white page it doesn't happen all the time but disturbingly it happens on pages as simple as Google search, not just data heavy sites. other symptoms include having to click links several times to get them to respond and I get the you are not connected to the Internet page when I go to some sites only to try another page from my bookmarks and it will load perfectly.

Sep 9, 2009Since upgrading to Snow Leopard (SL). I have noticed a painfully slow access to sites when using Firefox and Safari. Pages used to load almost instantaneous with Leopard. Now when using either Firefox or Safari on SL, It's taking an average of 8-10 seconds to load a page in my web browser. Feels like I'm on dialup. I have the fastest internet service you can get (Roadrunner Turbo Plus), but for some unknown reason my internet page access is painfully slow. I'm really thinking of using Time Machine to set my Mac back to Leopard, but I really don't want too. I figured I'd wait a few days to see if this problem surfaces, and perhaps a solution can be found.

Oct 19, 2008I have an IBOOK G4 running Tiger 10.4.11, which recently I upgraded from 768M to 1.25G RAM. It has an 80G HD which has about 50G free. I use it generally email and surfing the web. Recently, it started to run slow. Seems to be while surfing the internet. I use Safari. While surfing a while back it became very slow to respond on web pages, mostly got the "spinning color wheel", and then got pretty hot and the fan came on, first time I have heard the fan since I have had it.
After researching, I downloaded Onyx maintenance program. After doing a thorough maintenance using Onyx, everything seems to be back to normal. Well, a few days later, after using laptop for quite a while roughly 1 1/2 hours, started to run slow while surfing again. Slow to respond, spinning wheel again, but the mouse (bluetooth) movement is never affected.
OS X :: Slow Surfing Speed But BitTorrent Is Fast
Nov 15, 2008I think there's something wrong with my Mac. The surfing speed for web pages can be extremely slow, even when I checked bittorrent download speeds to be above 25kbps. Even for webpages like major sites like amazon.com and flickr. Any ideas if there's any setting I need to tweak. I've tried different browsers and it's still the same.
Here are some extra info:
- Max possible download speed 800kbps
- Torrenting and downloading at same time. I download small items so torrent speed is typically around 25kbps
- One other user in network. I'm using WiFi on a Buffalo router, and cable modem.
Problem starts after surfing for a while. Maybe 10-20 minutes after logging into the network.

It hasn't been a problem until recently when I noticed extremely slow web surfing. The download speeds seem to fine, but surfing the net is painful. I have firefox along with safari and both are equally slow. It is faster to surf some sites using my phones 3g service then my wireless internet. I have looked at mroogle and have tried some of the solutions on there and none of them seemed to work. I am using a linksys E1000 router and my airport has full bars. OS X V10.7 Lion :: After 10.7.4 Safari And Chrome Won't Render A Page
Jun 11, 2012Safari tries to load web pages 3 or 4 or 5 times with the page actually partially rendering, then stops trying to load with a "Safari Web Content quit unexpectedly." At that point, it is unresponsive to the keyboard, but the menu works with the mouse. I have disabled extensions, plug-ins, Java and JavaScript. Crash report below. Chrome quit working on the same day. I can't even view preferences as I get an "aw, snap" and nothing renders at all.The keyboard continues to be responsive. Preferences, History and Bookmarks won't render. I deleted everything that starts with Chrome and reinstalled from a fresh download.
I repaired permissions and got a number of errors but no changes in behavior. I upgraded three other Macs to the same level and had no issues.

May 31, 2012I am having trouble with Silverlight, which is necessary to stream movies on Netflix. Every time I click on a movie to watch I get a prompt to install Silverlight, even though I have already done so. This occurs on Firefox, my default brower, but not on Safari or Chrome. Â
I am running a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.7.3. It seems there is some incompatibility problem that affects Firefox but not other browsers. I could switch to Safar or Chrome as my default browser or stay with Firefox and use another browser for Netflix, but neither solution is perfect, and I would love to get Netflix to work on Firefox.

May 22, 2012I’ll try to be as specific as I can. I’m running Safari 5.1.7Â
From time to time, Safari seems to encounter a problem with opening https (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure). Either the page won’t open or the page will take deveral minutes to load (like four minutes to load Twitter home page).Â
When it happens, it seems to cause Safari the misbehave with any other page: Safari becomes in effect broken. Meanwhile, pages load normally in Chrome or Firefox. Â
Sometimes, restarting the computer will fix the problem (for a while), but sometime it doesn’t. I’ve also tried to empty Safari’s cache and flush its DNS. It doesn’t always work. I coming here because I restarted by computer half an hour ago and pages are still loading in Safari.Â
Other valuable information:Â
1) The problem with https existed prior to me upgrading to 5.1.7
2) I can be using Safari for days before I encounter the problem
3) I usually work with thre or four windows open, each loaded with about ten tabs.Â

Dec 11, 2010Hey guys, i got an old Powerbook that the whole family use to surf the net. I notice its been super slow lately. Ive never had a problem with this notebook, I've only done 2 reinstall in the time ive owned it. I recentluy did another one, and notice its still slow, loading websites is slow, cant watch movies on it. This is a notebook i use to do photoshop and illustrator work on.
Do you think its just its time? I think it could be the hard drive or memory, is there any type of diagnostic i can do to find out what the problem is?

I have an extremely old PC which is normally ok for most things, but gets bogged down if I am doing too many things.I was so annoyed with our national real estate site after they changed the format that I wrote a letter once a long time ago.. and I was ready to let them have it again, listing all the reasons why it is so bad and so much worse than the original.
Today for the first time, I accessed the site (mls.ca) using my new iMac. It was like lightening speed, comparatively speaking.Wow, suddenly I knew why the mls people hadn't changed their new format.But then I started going to other sites.. like airmiles.ca for example, and it was slow as heck... and stalling.. etc.
How would I be able to tell whether it is an internet slowness or the computer being slow?

Apr 1, 2010I am Having some issues with Safari (I am using 4.0.5), if I open up a website the screen stays white like it normally does for a sec to load a web page but the loading icon keeps spinning and spinning and spinning....... until I click the "X" stop icon and reload the web page. As soon as I click the reload icon the webpage loads up instantly, it is getting really annoying and would be great if anyone has a fix. This doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen frequently and then be fine for a few web pages and then start up again.

May 6, 2012I've iMac OS X Lion 10.7.3 latest version desktop. For couple of months, I'm dealing with dropping wifi connection during working. Every a few minutes, even during surfing though internet pages, wifi connection drops. When you look at the signal level etc.. everything is seems to be fine, but it is not possible to connect internet after close-open wifi. For a while, connection drop happens again.
