MacBook :: 2008 Aluminum Will Not Accept Correct Password At Login

May 7, 2012

My macbook ran out of battery two days ago. When I restarted it had all my data and files, but the settings had been reset (i.e. my screen saver, dock, expose, etc had all been reset to the original settings). A day later, the macbook froze and I tried to restart it. It now goes to the login page with my user ID but does not accept my correct password. Instead, the rainbow pinwheel spins for a few minutes before the login window shakes and then clears my entered password, as if it does not accept the password. After a few repeated tries, it offered me my password hint. I know my password is the same one I've always used.

MobileMe :: Mail Won't Accept Password Even Though It Is Correct?

Apr 30, 2012

Something is wrong with my mail client. Even though I am 100% certain that the password is correct (I get mail on my iPhone and when I log onto iCloud site), my mail will not accept the password. I've tried even to delete the account and set it up again, but that doesn't work either.

My son is using my old macbook pro 13-inch and he went to login using the correct security info but keeps getting denied. and clicking the question mark only leads to the computer recommending the very same password that he is using with no other options to request a change password option. the computer may still be running mountain lion, though possibly mavericks. definitely not yosemite.

Laptops :: Taking Long Time To Accept Login Password From Screen Saver

Mar 5, 2010

Using my network mobile account, when I type in my password to login from the screensaver it takes a very long time and then goes back to the screensaver. Actually it takes a long time to accept my password always. Is it possible that it is timing out at the screensaver. If I type in the name and password for the admin account for the local login it works right away. The machine is a macbook pro 2.53 ghz mid 2009 model. it's running 10.5.8.

IMac :: New Aluminum Keyboard - Cannot Type Correct Words

Jun 16, 2010

I have a problem but it's not mine it's my girlfriends. My girlfriend cannot seem to type correct words on her keyboard, due to water exposure. Now whenever she wants to type something it won't let her. We tried different methods; unplugging computer power cord, keyboard, and replug everything back in after 15-20 seconds. No luck. I also had her try to do the pram reset, didn't work as well. I suggest that she re-install osx with the disc or with the new snow leopard disc, to do a clean installation of the snow leopard but we haven't tried that yet.

I am about to upgrade my late 2008 aluminum MacBook 2.4 Ghz to 6GB of ram from owc but wanted to know if the will support 8GB, running at full stability. From what I can tell from other threads is that the owc 8GB kit doesn't work is this correct? If it can handle 8GB of ram I will do that instead of 6GB.

OS X :: MacBook, The Late 2008 Aluminum Edition - Cannot Expose Features?

Nov 28, 2009

I'm using a MacBook, the late 2008 aluminum edition. I'm running Snow Leopard and have updated to 10.6.2. For the last few weeks, I've been having a problem where my computer switches in and out of Expose view (where you can see all the windows open at once) and normal view, even when I haven't touched the trackpad or pressed F3 on the keyboard. Sometimes it switches back and forth very rapidly, other times, it just switches into Expose, and then I have to click back out of it, and as soon as I do, it enters Expose mode again. I don't have any hot corners enabled, and the problem occurs even when I turn off 4 finger swiping on the track pad. I can't find any information about this problem anywhere, and I don't know what could be causing it or what I can try to fix it

MacBook :: Color Calibration Profiles - Late 2008 Aluminum Unibody

Nov 3, 2008

I did this for the Macbook Pro's a while back, but I'm a Macbook guy now. There are a few other threads with profiles but it's no good if you use a profile made from a different panel than what you have. I'm just trying to consolidate things here.

I will try to keep this post current; please only submit profiles created from hardware, not those done by human eye (meatware?) And be sure to say which panel the profile is for. Thanks to everyone for contributing and improving the Macbook experience!

How to determine your panel type/code
How to install and use color profiles

Basic tests to determine if a profile is a good fit:

Black level
White level
Gamma

9C89 (LG)

See attachment (rezonat0r-9c89.zip)Spyder3 Pro. 2.2 Gamma, Native and 6500K whitepoint. I recommend using the Native whitepoint.See attachment (rezonat0r-9c89-alt.zip)Spyder3 Pro. 2.2 Gamma, Native whitepoint. This is an alternate profile made from another Macbook with the LG panel. It is similar to the previous but slightly darkerjessica's profileSpyder2 Pro. 2.2 Gamma. Native whitepoint (I think - not confirmed)
9C8C (AU Optronics)

See attachment (rezonat0r-9c8c.zip)Spyder3 Pro. 2.2 Gamma. I only did a calibration at native whitepoint (honestly, if you really need 6500K then you won't be using a Macbook screen, or any laptop screen for that matter)

MacBook Air :: Spilled Coffee On The Keyboard And Wont Accept Password

May 4, 2008

Brand new macbook air. Got a coffee spill on it.

Immediately shut it off and cleaned what I could up, but some coffee got in the keys on the right hand side.

So now, when booting, there is no 'BONG' start up. It asks for a password to login, but it won't accept the right password (like the keys are pressing the wrong buttons) - pressing the 'enter' key during this process puts a character up in the password screen like a different key is being pressed.

Can't log into it. Haven't disassembled it yet to see what I can see, but looking for advice. My wife just bought this for her business (first nice thing she's ever bought herself) and is mortified to have spilled coffee in it after only 4 days.

MacBook :: Can't Login To 13" Early 2008

May 24, 2012

My gf is using a white macbook 13'' early 2008 with the following specs:

2.4ghz intel core 2 duo
4gb ddr2 ram (667mhz)
WD 500GB 5400rpm
Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard

switched on her macbook and then typed in her password (no caps and caps are not switched on either) and then hit login and then screen turn light blue for a few seconds and then i'm back at the login box again. Typed in password again, the same thing happened  i tried resetting the passowrd through the installation disk of snow leopard(she only has 1 hardisk with her account, no partitions). And then it gave me a dialog box saying:Password Saved? The password you entered has been saved for the user xxxx. Resetting a user's password does not change the password for the user's login keychain so it will not be unlocked automatically.

Use Keychain Access to reset the password for the user's login keychain   I have no idea what's the Keychain Access since i can't even get pass the login box. So i just click ok, restart the macbook and then entered the new password. And the same thing happened.  Should i restore frm my TimeMachine or do a Repair Disk?

When I try to, it tells me to type my name and password, I do that, and it gives me ''You must type an administrators name and password to make changes to disk utility''. But I just gave it my name and password! I've tryed logging out, and it let me log back in and accepted me no worries, but it won't let me use disk utility or system preferences!
