Nov 13, 2010The inline remote control in my iPhone earphones is not working anymore on my MacBook. I can adjust the volume but can no longer change the tracks / play or pause.This is on my Mid 2010 13" which was working fine before the upgrade to 10.6.5.I don't think I'm alone with this issue as I've seen a post on this on the Apple discussion boards

Nov 4, 2010have some nice earphones with attached microphone that I use for my iPhone as well as when I'm using my laptop but I have been using Skype a lot lately and would like to use the attached microphone instead of the built in microphone on my mac book pro.The problem, obviously, is that the laptop has two separately jacks for input and output. Is there anything that splits a single TRS into two inputs?

Oct 15, 2009I have installed a virtual machine of Windows 7 (which I hear can be related) for Uni work etc which needs windows. One day I was using my earphones and pulled them out and a red light appeared and I could not get sound. I read online to insert the headphones a few times which resolved the situation.However now sound works fine out of the speakers but when using the earphone jack sound will only come out of one side, does anyone know what is causing this or recommend any solutions?

I read that this could be done online, but here's my problem. The headphones i'm working with have three wires: red painted, green painted and unpainted copper wires. Jul 23, 2009I can't seem to get my Macbook Pro 13" 2.26Ghz (OS 10.5.7) connect to my iPhone 3G (OS 3.0) via bluetooth. In the Bluetooth Setup Assistant the macbook sees the iPhone 3G, but they don't connect after I accept the connect on the iPhone 3G. The codes on the Macbook and iPhone are the same and, therefore, should connect.
I've searched the Apple Discussions (support) but there is no answer there.
MacBook Pro :: Input On Sony / Google TV
Dec 27, 2010I received the Sony/Google TV as a gift recently; and I was curious to know how I could possibly input my MBP on the TV, since its quite bigger than my 17" MBP. The Sony/Google TV does not have a VGA input and I understand why.. but I thought there might be a cord that could connect my MBP to the Sony/Google TV and keep a high resolution. The Sony/Google TV only has HDMI, USB & colored component INs. Is there any kind of cord available that I can purchase without the picture going into the 480i/p. Excuse the amateurity of this question. I really don't know where to start on what cord (if any) to buy.

Jan 7, 2009I remember reading several postings in early December about people who had been in contact with Apple and in some cases who had been contacted directly by Apple. Have there been any development and new info/feedback from Apple? I went to the Apple Store in Willow bend yesterday and the new 1.6 Rev B they had unpacked had a really bad screen, actually worse than the 1.8 they have had on display since november! I now completely understand when people complain about eye strain when viewing a bad screen. Felt my eyes water after a few minutes. Could be that I stared a lot too but it has never happened to me before. I cant believe they release such a bad screen on their flagship laptop. No way I can justify buying one until they have fixed this. I also noticed the lack of sharpness in text etc. Now I need to go back to Microcenter where I don't remember seeing the lines on a 1.8 they got in right before Christmas to make a comparison. But it really shouldn't be a gamble when ordering a MBA whether you get an acceptable screen or not. Compared to the MBP yesterday the MBA was unacceptable. No money from me to Apple at this point.

Jul 30, 2010Recently I've been looking for a way to capture uncompressed HDMI output from a PS3 via my 15" MBP. There are many solutions available, including the Dazzle, the HD PVR and other similar capturing devices, but most of these are limited to standard definition or a high price tag. In doing some research today, I came across a possible solution that I remain skeptical of. It's incredibly cheap and seems to only be missing a software solution.
A company called MOTU develops professional-grade video capturing solutions that are in that special category of price range that require special inquiries. Needless to say, far out of range of a practical solution for a hobbyist. They also sell a product called "HD Express", which is advertised as an HDMI input for an ExpressCard slot that only works with their breakout boxes. That last part doesn't really seem logical if it truly is an HDMI input.
So with a cheap HDMI splitter and an ExpressCard adapter for those of us who opted for the SD card slot on our MBPs, $75 could get you an HDMI input. I guess my question is whether or not this MOTU product is really limited to use with their products or if it would function as a standalone input solution. I know very little of electronics in general, which is why I bought a Mac in the first place.

Mar 6, 2012I have a really annoying problem with my macbook pro. Often (maybe 40-50% of the times) when i click some text field (on a webpage in Chrome or Safari, or in Finder's search field - actually any text field on my mac) and start to write something, nothing happens. Then if i use my trackpad and CLICK on the text field, all of the letters which i wrote, suddenly appears. The same thing happens with scrolling (in Apple's Preview app, browsers, finder etc.). Sometimes when i try to scroll, nothing happens. If i then click anywhere inside the window, it scrolls. Same thing happens with gestures if i use Preview to view a pdf in fullscreen. If i use 3 fingers swipe to browse to another page, nothing happens. If i click anywhere it immediately go to the other page. Is this software or hardware related? I'm thinking software, unless it has something to do with my trackpad. It's a 13" Macbook Pro (2.3 i5)

MacBook :: Headphone With Mic Not Working In Audio Input
Mar 23, 2012This headphone/headset that is equipped with a mic does not work properly when I connect it to the audio input opening. The headphone/headset is only equipped with one plug (is this the proper term?).
When I adjust the audio setting (apple icon--> System Preferences --> Sound --> select "Input" tab --> highlight " Line in; Audio line-in port") I can only hear sounds through the headphone but the mic portion does not pic up. If I hit the mic portion I see the bars move, that would indicate some sound being picked up. However, when I try to use the mic, through Mac Office Powerpoint 2010, the sound (if received through the mic) does not pick up.
Why is this happening? Do I need some extra external component for the microphone part of the headset to work or do something extra in the System Preference area?

My TV only has Composite RCA sockets and SVideo input sockets. What adapter should I buy? Also, have you ever had a problem where the connection is made, but the movie is in black and white on the TV and not in color as it should be?
