OS X V10.7 Lion :: Printer Sharing Over Local Network Does Not Work Anymore
May 24, 2012'all of a sudden' (so it seems) my 2 printers in my network do not print printjobs from other macs in my network. It dit work. Nothing really changed, exept some system-updates.
print-share is on, awake out of sleep is on (network-tab). Really there is no reason that it would not work. Still, ... it doesn't.Â
config:
- imac 27" 2011, software updated
- macmini 2010, software updated
canon ip4200, works standard on imac. brother HL-2030, works standard on imacÂ
The charm of the set-up was that I could have my printers in the office and still print from the livingroom (mac mini)Â Â To try to solve the problem I moved the mac mini temporarily to the office, so I have it next to the imac.
Opening the section 'printers and scanners' and then pressing the '+' does however give me 2 differentviews:
- on the imac I get a sub menu, dropping down from the '+'
- on the mac mini I get a new window named 'add new printer' (this is hopefully the right translation - I am on a Dutch system)
This strikes me as odd. I never noticed this before. Maybe this is where the problem lies?Â

I can look for the TM and the iMac see the TM, but if I start the backup, a popup comes up. "The image of the backup-volume "/Volume/TMBackup/Danielas iMac.sparsebundle" cant be accessed. (Error -1)
Maybe it is not the exact error message in english, but I hope you know what I mean. Im working on a german system.Â
I can access the TM-Share through the finder (share: afp://[...]).Â

Feb 25, 2007I seam to be having a problem with my head phone not working when I plug it int he head phone jack on the Mac Pro. Every time I try, it either play out of the internal speaker or directly out to my Karmon Soundstick II speaker. I try going to the preferences change sound output but doesn't seam to work?

Windows On Mac :: Headphone Jack Doesn't Work For Vista Only?
Jun 14, 2009I'm running vista 64bit. On Mac OS, the headphone jack works fine. However, on Vista, there is a red light shining out of it and when i plug either speakers or my earphones into it, no sound comes out (the Macbook Pro's speakers work fine though). Any ideas? I reinstalled the bootcamp drivers with the install DVD.

Jun 24, 2010I have a Macbook Pro and something happened to the audio jack recently. Not sure what but I have a 3 year old and pc husband at home. Basically the inside of the jack went from being an inny - where you can plug in an audio plug, to an outie - where you can only insert about half of your plug and it won't go in any further. When I go into Sound settings - Output it says the selected device has no controls, and the speaker icon on my status bar is greyed out. I brought it in and they said they would need to replace the logic board in order to fix the jack - $1,000.... yikes.
So long story short I am wondering if it is just the audio jack then could I buy usb speakers and use those instead? Any work around at all? I wish there were a way to just tell the computer to ignore anything the audio jack was telling it, but I was told that is not an option either.

Jan 31, 2012I am trying to get a Sony ECM-DS70P Condenser Stereo Microphone with a 3.5mm stereo male plug to work on my MacBook Pro with a Behringer UCA222 USB Audio Interface and I am having no joy at all.The Microphone will not work when plugged directly into the Line-in jack on the MacBook Pro because the Audio Line-In input on the MacBook is line level -10dB to+4dB and microphones are generally around -40dB. So, I need either a line level preamp or a usb audio interface.I decided on a USB Audio Interface (Behringer UCA222).The Microphone is plugged into a 3.5mm stereo to RCA L & R cable which is plugged into the L/R RCA inputs on the Behringer UCA222. The Behringer UCA222's USB Cable is plugged into a USB port on the MacBook Pro.
On the Macbook Pro in System Preferences > Sound > the output is set to Internal Speakers and the input is set to the USB Codec (Which showed up when the Behringer UCA222 was plugged in). [code]

Feb 27, 2009My computer is Mac Pro, 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 4GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM, running Mac OSX Version 10.5.6. I am a big time user of search (or spotlight) on my Macintosh and I have been using for years and through all the updates. I loved the recent updates to spotlight and I was able to search not only my HD but also the network drives where all of our files are located on an Mac Server.
I am the IT person of this small graphic design firm and everyone in our office work on files that are located on a Mac Server. We only keep the applications on our own client computers. Spotlight or (search) was function perfectly up to a few weeks ago but recently when I need to search something on our Signage A, Signage B, Signage C or Print A, Print B or Print C, drives where we keep our files. The search does not bring no result. This is a problem not only with my computer but there are a few computers in the office with the same problem.
What can I do to resolve this problem and be able to search again on my network drives where I keep all the files we are working on. If this function is no longer available with spotlight or search box of the finder window. Is there another software we can use to search for files and folders on our server. Since there are a few people working on the same files sometimes when the files are moved it makes it difficult for the next person to find them, in that kind of situation search was working wonderfully and I need for that to work again.

Nov 16, 2010Since 2 days ICQ doesn't work together with iChat anymore. All I get is the prompt for entering the password. Password is correct and ICQ still works with Adium or ICQ2GO. iChat probably stopped working after I installed the latest security patch for MacOS Leopard.
Deleting the ICQ account in iChat and adding it again doesn't work. Neither does deleting the AIM.plist or changing the server to [URL] like it was suggested at the Apple discussion board.

Sep 14, 2008Yesterday I swapped the stock cooler of my radeon HD3870 for a zalman vf1000. Since then, the GC doesn't work anymore (even with the stock fan back). So after a night of check, test and prettty much everything, I'm pretty sure my GC is dead. What I want to know it could be a short circuit? I'm a good mac user and I already did that on others cards (X1900 with an accelero for example.) I talked with xlryourmac and he can't see. I really want to find out a plausible explanation, because I'll probably buy another GC et wouldn't want to do the same mistake twice. Apr 10, 2010I'd like to empty my trash, but it doesn't work anymore. The trash icon in my dock indicates that there are files in it, but when I click on it the Trash window appears, but the files don't show. The indicator at the bottom right just keeps on animating - it never stops, not even after several hours. furthermore, the "Empty Trash" option in the Finder menu is grayed out. The "Empty Trash" option in the trash icon's right-click menu is not grayed out. However, when I click it, a dialog appears for confirmation; I click on "Empty Trash" and nothing happens. When I list the files in my trash using the terminal (with the "ls" command), the files do show (and there is a considerable number of files). When I try to remove them, using the "rm" command, nothing happens; when I list the files again, they are still there. What must I do to get this mess fixed?

Apr 17, 2012when opening a pdf in Safari I used to be able to press the right mouse button and could choose between printing and opening the pdf in Preview. This dialog seems to have disappeared (a new dialog with loads of unusefull crap like choosing tools is now shown instead). Most importantly, however, I can't print the pdfs anymore when using Safari's menu print (the pdf is o.k. it all works in firefox and opera). While the dialog opens correctly, only a blank document is printed. Also the export as pdf option does not work anymore.I'm running an Imac with mac os x lion, most recent updates installed. Safari 5.1.5
