Apr 25, 2010When i try to input my password, i try to type the letter 'n' and for some reason my macbook pro chimes. I have no idea how to remedy this problem.

MacBook Pro :: 13" Unibody Clicking / Ping Type Noise
Dec 27, 2009I got the 13" Pro from that big fella in the red suit who lives up north. So far so good with the computer but if I pick it up fast or jostle it around, I hear this clicking type noise coming from the area of the hard drive. I have been told that this is a sensor locking down the hard drive before the computer falls and hits the floor for example and is nothing to worry about. Is this the case? Again, it only happens when I give the computer a quick movements and once it happens, I can't reproduce the sound until the computer has been still for a while which makes sense if this is a safety feature. Also, I can only get the computer to "click" when the screen/lid is open and the computer is awake which also backs up the safety feature explanation.
I just want to make sure I have nothing to worry about. My 2008 white Macbook will not make this clicking sound but I have been told that is will but you just can't hear it. My guess is the aluminum amplifies the sound a bit.
OS X :: Audio Input Making Clicking Noise?
Nov 8, 2009I am simply trying to connect my guitar to my mac by using a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter and inserting it to the input on my mac. Once iv done this i go into my sound in system preferences and it shows on the volume bar that its maxing out and once i go into garage band to try and record something all i hear is a "click click"! I have no clue what it is?

1. User selected file A and press "upload" button. I send the file to the server via AJAX.Â
2. Now I need to clear the file field. I tried different ways to do this:
- set value of input to null or ""
- call "reset" method of the form
- reset innerHtml/outerHtml
- use input type=reset to reset the formÂ
3. Whatever I do the value of the input seem to be clear, but! If I select the same file A in this input "onchange" event will not be fired. This is not convenient because in our case sometimes user will need to do re-upload of the file with the same name. In other browsers (like Chrome, Firefox) it is enough to set value of input to null to get onchange event fired when we select the same or another file.In Safari nothing works and it looks like a browser issue.

Emptying the trash is fine, though.I thought maybe I had clicked an option in Onyx that caused this, but having looked several times, I can't see anything in Onyx that would cause this. I've tried repairing disk permissions using Disk Utility, with no effect.

Nov 17, 2007After upgrading to Leopard, when I try to install or update any program on my computer it asks for the Administrator username and password. Well that should not be a problem seeing as how I am the administrator and so I type in my name and my password and it says "you must type an administrator's name and password to make changes to software update." So I went to system settings and checked and it no longer has my account as the administrator and I can't make any changes because I am not the administrator no more. After installing Leopard, this has happened. What should I do? (I am fairly new to Macs, I have had my Macbook about 3 months.) I also noticed that my Macbook (when I shut it) has started to wake itself up from sleep mode and stay that way while it's still closed.

It doesn't show up on the Keychain Access item in menu bar. And I get message along the lines of. There appears no way to set preference for this system Key Chain to automatically open. suggestions? I think I also have a complete and Total melt down of the key chain system on my X.3.9 Drive Because I can't get keychain, accounts, Installer, Stickies, and Pacifist to open. There may be other but applications such as word, Acrobat, and all web browsers an mail/news client I have work fine. I deal with that issue after I get this fixed.

As I tried to connect to a wifi network, I found out that its WPA password included a Polish letter (ł), which I couldn’t type in any way. I tried setting Polish as system language, copying and pasting from Word, using both the character and keyboard viewer, but with no results.

MacBook :: Low Pitched Electrical Whistling Noise / Crackling Noise Emitting From Magsafe
Dec 20, 2010I just got my 2.0ghz Alu Macbook a few days ago and everything works perfectly well, the thing is that after day one the magsafe started to emit a low pitched electrical whistling noise. It tends to be there a few minutes after booting into the OS and then it turns down to almost unhearable, but I experienced it returning after a few hours of use and then disappearing again. If I move close to the escape key I can hear a crackling noise emitting from the magsafe.I'm not trying to be overly nitpicky or anything but I read somewhere that if it's doing that it would be a faulty Mag-Safe board or something.
Does any one you guys know anything about this? I have the 14 days to return it as I bought it online from the Apple Store so if it's a faulty part that might die/break/ cause problems later I might have to.

MacBook Pro :: Hinge Makes Cracking Noise / Loud Popping Noise When Adjust Screen Position
Jun 6, 2009On my 13" MacBook Pro, the hinge makes a cracking noise on the right side of the computer (near the power button) when the screen is positioned all the way back.The entire hinge also makes a loud popping noise when I adjust the screen position. The screen seems very tight, and it takes a little bit of effort to move the screen, and when the screen is moved it makes the loud popping noise.
This is probably going to make some of you guys cringe, but sometimes putting pressure down on the top of the case close to where the black hinge meets to unibody enclosure seems to stop the popping noises. Putting downwards pressure on the hinge, or flipping the computer over and putting pressure on it that way, also seems to alter how much popping noise there is.
If I mess around a bit with applying pressure on different parts of the computer around the hinge, I can usually eliminate the noise. But, the cracking noise when I put the screen all the way back is still there.Any ideas what to do? It's not interfering with the operation of the computer, it's just incredibly annoying and this is only a four month old machine which shouldn't be creaking and cracking already.
MacBook :: PISMO G3 Squealing Noise - Noise Coming From Under The Keyboard
Jul 14, 2008Has anyone else had problems with an old G3 Pismo making an annoying squealing noise when plugged into a charger? There's a lot of noises mentioned in mac/apple forums but none of them relate to this one. Here's what it is not:
It's not coming from the screen or the fan or the speakers (it's under the keyboard). It's not low or slightly annoying (it is a loud squeal). It happens only when the power adaptor is plugged into the laptop.(it used to cease after I unplugged the power adaptor and plugged it back in three times; now that solution doesn't stop the noise anymore). It charges ok, and runs ok, scream or no-scream. It's quiet right now, but if I move the adaptor to another plug it will start again.
I was going to live with this, but today after an hour of operating quietly it just started again, and I hate to leave the house with this going.(it will scream whether the laptop is on or off. I have a really old battery and cannot replace it (I am currently staying in Mexico for the summer). Battery life is 45 min. I haven't tried pulling the battery out. That would be too easy.
This all started when I bought a replacement power adaptor (generic),after the original one melted down, but I could stop the screaming by unplugging/plugging it in again once or twice. Then I bought an expensive iGo adaptor, and it does the same thing.
I Did the PRAM and PMU reset.I can hear it over music or the tv. It grew lower in pitch today after squealing for a half hour. I'd normally not let it go on that long, but i was
in the other room.Is my PISMO dying?

MacBook Pro :: Fan Noise Or Hard Drive Noise?
Oct 25, 2008I just got my macbook pro yesterday and ran it all yesterday not hearing anything. Today when I woke it from sleep I could clearly hear the fan or hard drive going. I was in a quiet room and it's quite annoying.
istat says its at 2000 rpm so thats when I started thinking it may be the hard disk. It does pulse every now and then but thats even while it's just sitting idle.
I guess I could live with it but its just annoying. Anyone else having this?

The Sony/Google TV does not have a VGA input and I understand why.. but I thought there might be a cord that could connect my MBP to the Sony/Google TV and keep a high resolution. The Sony/Google TV only has HDMI, USB & colored component INs. Is there any kind of cord available that I can purchase without the picture going into the 480i/p.
