Sep 20, 2010I have a Macbook running OS X 10.5.8
The print to pdf function is great, but I've noticed that for longer documents it divides the file into 3 separate sections/documents. This is annoying.
Is there anyway around this within the operating system, or is there other software like "cute pdf writer" for the mac . It seems that "cute" was only written for PCs since Macs tend to not need it.

Feb 21, 2006My father-in-law is considering switching to macs, but a deal breaker is whether or not he can continue to use his genealogy information. He's been using Family Tree Maker which is peecee only. I've read that Reunion is a good mac alternative, but will he be able to transfer his data from FTM to Reunion? What if anything would he lose?

Mar 1, 2010I am using Firefox for my web browsing on my 27' iMAC. Why do some webpages (like this one) stretch/fit across the entire width of the monitor screen and some only use 1/3 of the page?

Jul 15, 2010I am looking for a webpage maker software like iweb but could not find a suitable one, I have tried several templete based software such as rapidweaver and sandvox but i found them too limited to make a custom work.
Dreamerweaver is too complex, I do not have time to all those staff, iweb is ok but just not enough to make a custom work.
Are there any other software to suits my needs ?
ITunes For Mac :: Open Downloaded Ringtone Maker App?
Sep 5, 2014I downloaded the free Ringtone maker in iTunes. It shows up under Apps in my iTunes page, but there is no option to open it. I've tried double-clicking but nothing happens. I have also tried right-clicking, but this only gives me the following options: Get info (just leads back to app description in app store), Show in Finder, Show in iTunes store, and Delete.

Dec 23, 2007I have a Mac and PC. I've been working on my family tree using the ever-so-popular Family Tree Maker. As a gift this year, someone gave me a copy of Reunion 9 for Mac. Knowing that I'm picky tho they also gave me a gift receipt. Should I bother opening it? Is it that much better/different from Family Tree Maker? I'm "guessing" since they both import/export GED, moving the data between the two is not difficult. Is there something one does better than the other? I'm not all together too pleased with the sample web-output of either of them (so far) but some guidance as to which is easier to work with and generally looks the nicest would be nice. Anyone use both have a firm positive/negative to say about either? Other than Reunion being on my mac instead of my pc, is there anything worthwhile it brings to the table?

Apr 14, 2010Intel, the maker of processors for Apple's entire line of Mac computers, reported record earnings this week, with its strongest first quarter in the company's history fueled by demand for new microprocessors.Intel reported first-quarter revenue of $10.3 billion, with an operating income of $3.4 billion, net income of $2.4 billion, and earnings per share at 43 cents. Officials said it was the company's best first quarter since 1968, and CEO Paul Otellini said the industry is "nearly fully recovered.""The investments we're making in leading edge technology are delivering the most compelling product line-up in our history," Otellini said. "These leadership products combined with growing worldwide demand and continued outstanding execution resulted in Intel's best first quarter ever. Looking forward, we're optimistic about our business as Intel products are designed into a variety of new and exciting segments."
According to The Wall Street Journal, Intel's quarterly profit nearly quadrupled and revenue rose 44 percent. The company also plans to hire between 1,000 and 2,000 new workers, its largest expansion in five years. The company also has an optimistic outlook for the second quarter of calendar 2010, a three-month period that is typically slow for the computer industry.
Otellini also noted that demand for Intel's new processors has been "incredible." Among those are the new Core i7 and Core i5 chips, both of which found their way into Apple's top-of-the-line MacBook Pros with a hardware upgrade released on Tuesday. Both the 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models feature Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, as well as integrated energy efficient Intel HD Graphics processors.Using proprietary graphics switching technology, Apple's latest high-end MacBook Pros dynamically switch between the Intel integrated graphics and a new discrete Nvidia GeForce 330M graphics processor. In addition to offering battery life of between 8 and 9 hours, Apple's graphics switching also ensures compatibility with Intel's new Arrandale mobile processors, which feature the major northbridge chipset memory controller components built in.
In addition to the architectural changes Intel made with the Core i5 and Core i7 mobile processors, an ongoing lawsuit with Nvidia has forced the graphics card maker to halt the development of future chipsets. Apple's software solution also allows users to switch solely to discrete graphics and bypass Intel's low-power integrated option if they choose.addition to Apple's line of Mac desktops and notebooks, Intel supplies the processors that run about 80 percent of the PCs in the world. To me that suggests the average fleet of notebooks is four years old out there. The average fleet of desktops is five years old."For the second quarter of 2010, Intel has forecast revenue of $10.2 billion, with 64 percent gross margin. Apr 27, 2009I have all my movies and tv show on a portable 500GB external hard drive. When i watch an episode of a tv show or a movie i label it with a color so that i know that i have seen it. There are some files where when i right click a file and and go down to where the 7 colors are they are all grayed out. I am not sure if this is a bug or if certain files cant be labeled.

Jun 14, 2009I set up my Macbook to share to my lowly PC, that was fine, but now I get a bar that says Shared Folder when I access the hard drive in my macbook from my macbook. Its incredibly irritating. I tried to 'fix' it but all I did was disallow permissions to my HD and was unable to access anything, had to re-install OSX to get it to work.
I did a search of the forums, but all I got was how to set up to share a folder, I got that part working fine.This is a picture of my Macbooks hd in Finder this is frustrating me, If i was on a PC something this simple would be easy, but Im still learning the ins and outs of OSX

Does anybody know how to print address labels from a group in the address book.
I know you can create templates pages for avery labels ect but it will only allow you to print the name rather than select a "nick name"
Any new ideas? I have started to dabble in the apple scripting side of this issues so I am open to suggestions... really anything saves having to write out 3000 addresses.
OS X :: Can't Color Label Files Imported From Old Mac

When I tried to label the folders by colour, however, I realised that that option is greyed out! New folders that I create can be colour labelled, but not the imported ones. How do i colour label these imported folders?

Aug 4, 2010I was messing around with my desktop drive icons and noticed you can't give your 'Macintosh HD' partition a colored label, when I right clicked my bootcamp partition, the colored label options were available, so I gave it a color. But when I remove it, whenever the partition get's unmounted (at shutdown or manually trough disk utility), OS X throws a kernel panic. So now I have a permanent label attached to my bootcamp drive.

I guess they are no longer in business because I am unable to contact them. I am interested in address labels and know that I can do this thru AddressBook but with that program am unable to make a page of the same name address labels. (ex. my name for return labels) I also want to be able to merge with AddressBook for Christmas lists etc. Any recommendations as to a good software program. I understand that I can do this thru iWork (Pages) but haven't figured that out or found where to download the right Avery templates for the Mac.

Apr 18, 2012Since installing Filemaker Server 12 on our Lion Server 10.7.3, the Webmail is no longer working. I know with previous installations of Filemaker Server I have been asked whether I wanted to keep the system version of PHP or install PHP which comes with Filemaker Server, but I don't recall being prompted about it on this occasion. Previously I had always opted to retain the system PHP.

I have the Spouse names listed in fields, but there doesn't seem to be an option to add that to an address label.

I know I could change everyone's first name to both "first & spouse" and then change it back after I print the labels. That's the solution I found from the Apple help pages.
IMac :: UPC Label Doesn't Match Actual?

Anyways, my iMac config is:
24" / 2.66 GHz / 4 GB / 640 GB HD
and my UPC label reads:
20" / 2.66 GHz / 2 GB / 320 GB HD
Now, I called Apple, and he said it shouldn't matter, but I need the order receipt and UPC label to match, what now?

Also, is there a way to block out certain MAC addresses from connecting to the internet. I only found an option to block them at certain times of the day.

Jul 10, 2010 a couple days ago my superdrive literally sucked the paper label off a homemade mix CD.
The CD itself came out without any problem but the label is still stuck in my superdrive.
