Oct 27, 2009Is it safe to charge my Macbook over night in a laptop bag that I have? What's your take on this? How do you charge your Macbook (on sleep, shut down, open, closed etc)?

Jun 23, 2012I would like to know if charging the MacBook Pro for 8 hours overnight will cause the battery to diminish faster. I only let it happen once, I usually unplug it when its green.

Apr 14, 2012I have been shutting down my MacBook Pro OS X10.7.3 at night.I just read that OSX runs "maintenance" procedures early in the morning (between 3:15 am and 5:30 am) and that if Mac is powered off at that time, that these maintenance procedures will NOT run.True or False? AppleCare says that it won't make any difference and I won't be affected if these night procedures never run. But, if that's true, then why are they set up to run at night? ? I went to the Apple Manual but it does not address my question.

MacBook Pro :: Do Magsafe Adapters Only Initiate Charging After Laptop Closed
Apr 18, 2012I purchased a replacement magsafe 85w adapter for my MacBook Pro and was wondering if the new cable requires you to have your laptop closed to initiate the charge process on your computer.I notice that if I attach it with my laptop powered on and my computer open it will not initiate a charge (light up on the cable or show the charge icon on screen). If I power down my laptop and close the lid, disconnect and reconnect the magsafe cable the light on the cable will light up and initiate the charge. I tried this also on sleep mode with the laptop closed and the light on the cable started up without disconnecting. I was able to boot up my computer and continue working and the charge continued but I had to initiate it first with the lid closed either in an off or sleep mode. Just wondering if this is the new norm as I just moved from the old "T" style magsafe to the new "L" style magsafe.

MacBook Pro :: Not Charging And Randomly Shutting Down When Removing Mag From Charging Port?
May 13, 2012My Macbook pro is not charging. If I move the cord (specially at the Macbook charging port) it charges. But again if the cord is slightly disturbed then it doesn't charge. The problem got worse as my Mac randomly shuts down (especially when I remove the mag at the Macbook charging port). I dono what to do. Apple care (Genius) is far from my place.There is no visible physical damage on my mag charger. Could anyone suggest what I should do? I checked the battery status in system profiler and it says NORMAL. The details are as follows:

Oct 1, 2010I have a new MBP 13". When I'm using the Mac it's mostly connected to AC. Over night it's mostly sleeping without the AC connected. My question is, if I should let it sleep at night or should I shut down the Mac regarding to maximize the battery life?

May 27, 2012I left my mbp next to an open window on a very damp night after a few very damp days. In the monring it would not start after I pressed the power button, and the magsafe connector appeared to be dead, there was no light of any color. I used another magsafe whose light did turn on, and left it all plugged in overnight. In the morning it all turned on as if nothing had happened, and my magsafe appeared to be working fine. I had everything back up, and was lucky to be in town, but what do I do now to trouble shoot and make sure this doesn't happen again?

Aug 21, 2009I Can't figure out what is going on; I've played around in the battery settings; but maybe I'm just too Green to my used 17 Inch Macbook Pro that I bought 3 months ago.
I used to have a full battery at night, close the lid go to sleep and have hardly any battery loss first thing in the morning.
Now, I close the lid or even manually put the Macpro to sleep ( from the apple menu ) and wake 8 hours later with " NO" battery.
whats going on? what do I need to check? what do I need to set? this is getting frustrating.
the battery is still strong get about 3 hours on a full charge; it's a mac battery; so It must just be settings or something I need to do in the software.

MacBook Pro :: Mid-2009 13" Says "not Charging" But Seems To Be Slowly Charging With Power Adapter
May 19, 2012I have a mid-2009 13" Macbook Pro with 8GB RAM. I have the odd situation of the power indicator on top right of screen showing that the power adapter is plugged in, but the percentage indicator stating that the laptop is "not charging." I have been working on the computer for several hours and the laptop has only charged to about 27 percent according to the battery health application that is runningI have. It says the battery has gone through 281 cycles and is 2.4 years old. It suggests the battery should still charge to 92 percent of its potential. The battery is warm as is the power adapter cube, so something is happening. The little light on the end of the power cord is green but only two of the little green dots light up on the left edge of the computer.

Jun 13, 2012I accidently deleted some file on my computer that wouldn't let me start up my MacBook pro, 13 Inch, so I had to press Command- R at start up (brought me to Lion Recovery) and I choose reinstall lion and I started it yesterday morning and all day and over night. It's barely half way through and it says "148 Hours Left" which is crazy.. Should I just wait? is this normal? what do I do?

Oct 31, 2009I left Time Machine on to run last night while I was sleeping. I woke up to 12 new "2009-10-31" backup folders. It seems to be backing up a small 105kb file every hour. Obviously there is nothing else to backup because the system is idle, I'm not making any changes to files. I'm not sure I noticed this happen in Leopard. Any idea on what that small file is that it keeps backing up?
