i am gonna install VM fusion on my macbook air and the problem is that i left my window xp cd installation at my friends house. Can i install iso image or something like that so that i can ask him to convert it and then send to me via internet so that i can use the image file to install VM fusion. Btw, he and i, not sure how to convert it.

Once I run the iso image, wine (version 1.0) starts up, and when I run the exe file, in the process window, I see the exe file for maybe 3 seconds, and then it stops. I don't know if what I am trying to do works. Would I need to install this game some other way and then run* it using wine?

I also use smFanControl, to make sure my fans are cooling a bit harder when I use VM Ware Fusion.
I have the next questions: Is the temparature rise normal?Can it harm my laptop (cpu)?Can smFancontrol damage my fans, while running harder for about 8 hours like that?Or is ther something wrong with my Mac, because during temerature rise to for instance 90 degrees, the cpu is used for like 30-40 percent?

I have a whole bunch of swf files, they all contain basically what is a printed page. I would like to convert them into a PDF/Image. I have tried everything, flash decompilers result in a whole bunch of text/image files all broken up into bits of the page, with no formatting. When I view the swf files with a swf viewer, say iSwiff, the page flashes up for a brief second, then goes away. Tried multiple viewers, including firefox. If I do a screen recording then I can see the page, but only for one video frame. I have tried swf to image/video converters, they only say the file has 1 frame, and that frame has nothing on it. How can I convert these swf files to ANY other format than this?

This also just started happening with my iPhoto and iTunes as well. Sometimes my computer will just shut off completely and restart with a message saying there was a problem and it had to shut down. I managed to successfully hide the file: cat picture.jpg hidden.rtf.zip > picture2.jpg
results in a picture (picture2.jpg) that is the size of the sum of picture.jpg and hidden.rtf.zip. I presume this means that I am successfully putting hidden into the picture.I can open picture2.jpg, but I can't figure out a way to access the hidden zip.
Not sure if I should get vmfusion or parallels to run windows 7 on.
They both seem to be as good so I guess I am shallow enough to go for the best looking.
I will trial both with windows 7.
Can I do that with a single license copy of W7?
BTW I read very thread on ag v glossy and small text problems with hi res and worried for weeks!
As a 63 yr old with glasses for short sightedness (and a short temper) I am delighted with my 15 inch hi-res ag!
I am a total Mac dummy but our owners daughter came in with her Macbook and said that no one can receive her attachments because they always get changed to DAT files. This happens if she uses both GMAIL and YAHOO mail (via safari). I can easily rename the file back to DOC or DOCX on my end but most of her friends and co-workers will not want to do that.

In both of these virtual machines, the internet doesn't work. I tried changing the network settings for VMWare Fusion to both NAT and bridged, and neither of them work. It's a little annoying because there's not too much you can do without an internet connection.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using NAT mode on the VMWare Fusion running Windows XP and am not able to get out to the Internet using IE or Firefox. I am able to get out to the Internet just fine from the host OS (Leopard) via Firefox. I can see on the task bar (lower right corner) the network connection lights going but only one of the computer icons light up as if there is a transmit but no receive. Usually if there is transmit and receive I'll see both computer icons lighting up.I've tried doing a ipconfig /release and /renew but to no avail.
From a dos prompt I've tried pinging "yahoo.com" but with no success. The strange thing is that when I used this VMWare image last a few weeks back it was fine. Not sure what's changed.
Alright, I'm wondering what makes my internet go slow when my dad is uploading something or sending an e-mail.According to Speedtest.net I have a download speed of 2.1MB/s and upload of 0.03MB/s (megabytes not megabits).I just did a test while dad was uploading and got very similar results if not the same, except it said my ping was 4302 ms, compared to 26 ms I got from re-running the test after the upload was finished. I'm pretty sure the server was the same, I think I would have noticed if it wasn't.Does anyone know why it goes slow, I don't really understand it, although I imagine it has something to do with the high ping but I don't understand why or how it effects it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy parents are having the exact problem described in this thread (and I've been tasked with remote tech support): [URL] Upon startup, WinXP gives them a BSOD reboot loop while indicating that a DLL file is possibly corrupt. Booting in Safe Mode won't work, and reverting to an earlier snapshot merely delays the problem by 24 hours or so.
The obvious and ideal solution would be to boot into Repair mode from the install disc and copy the clean DLL to replace the damaged copy. The problem is that, according to the thread, I'll need to first get Fusion to accept a floppy image of SCSI adapter drivers for me to even be able to enter Repair mode. Pulled an old hard disk from a windows box, and all the file names for my tunes are in order, but these are not the ID3 tags, so as soon as imported into iTunes, its just showing 'Track 1, track 2 etc'. Is there an app I can run these files through, to convert the file name to ID3 tags before importing?

As it was in .SCR i had to use the image recovery software and got it done in .JPG.The file's preview is avaialbe only on the app i used to recover. After i stored the image file on desktop and tried to open it i get an error "It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize."
