Just Archived & Installed about 2 hours ago, and everything looks fine so far. No installation problems (though I was food shopping and by the time I came back things were fine).
However, the first weird quirk I found was that when I attempt to delete one of my inbox messages in Mail, it won't let me delete. I get this error message:
"The message "(e-mail subject name)" could not be moved to the mailbox "Deleted Messages - AOL Mail. The IMAP command "UID COPY" (to Deleted Messages) failed for the mailbox "INBOX" with server error: UID COPY failed Deleted Messages: no such mailbox."

May 7, 2012I am running Mac OSX 10.7.3 and I recently been having issues shutting down my computer with mail running. Sometimes it takes 2-3 mins for it to shut mail down and other times it says it couldn't shut down because of the mail app. Is there anything I can do short of reinstalling Lion?

Aug 9, 2010This morning, I was in mail (I think I was in the midst of a draft which I did not care to save) and realized that I was late so I tried closing Mail using command q. Well, I get the desktop but I can't logout. When I hit the mail icon, it won't even open up my mail to do file, close. So I'm in limbo because I'm not able to shut down.

Nov 3, 2009My macbook is not letting internet through from ethernet or airport but when i boot up xp with bootcamp both work so the drivers must be fine, this problem might have something to do with when i turn the computer on it doesnt always start up it go to the gray screen with the spinning loading wheel but also it gets the loading bar which you can see for 30 sec till it gets about 1/32 of the way though the bar so not far at all and sometimes doesnt boot at all. I am running snow leopard and luckily used time mach.

Sep 10, 2014I had to force shut down my MacBook Pro today as it was freezing up and not allowing me to really click on anything. All it let me do was close out of Photoshop. What happened was FireFox decided to crash and not reopen after attempting to install an updated version of Flash Player. When I rebooted after the force-shut down (holding down the power button to turn off my computer, which has always been effective in the past), I got a screen for OS X Utilities with the following prompts:
Restore From Time Machine Backup
Reinstall OS X
Get Support Online
Disk Utility
So, the first one is out of the question. In the 5 1/2 years I've proudly owned my computer, I have never created a Time Machine account/backup. I have preferred to use an external hard drive. Unfortunately, the other prompts would be A-okay, if it weren't for the fact that I've been lax in updating my backup and haven't backed up to my external in about 8 months.
Unfortunately, to Reinstall OS X, my computer wants to erase all my data, so I need the backup of my files. (I have a lot of photos on my drive). But it says I can't even reinstall, because the hard drive is locked..And it won't repair my hard drive. The prompts for why it should be repaired are: Invalid content in journal, Invalid B-tree node size, The volume could not be verified completely.
When I try to create a new image to backup to my external in order to wipe my system, it says "Unable to create "disk0s2.dmg" (invalid argument). Now, I am not totally computer illiterate. I can follow a set of instructions and do my own IT work basically 99% of the time. I don't want to loose my images or lesson plans (I actually just got my school issued laptop and was going to transfer school files over to my school-issued computer as soon as I finished with my Internet needs (bills)).

Sep 14, 2010I'm trying to put a 10gb sized video onto my hard drive but it won't allow me. I don't want to format it for 2 reasons.
1) i don't have space to back up and
2) the purpose of putting it on the hard drive is so I can watch the video through my blu ray player's usb port.
in disk utility, if i erase and use a volume format other than ms-dos (fat), the blu ray player doesn't pick p on the drive.

2. Choose Shut Down or Restart (ticking the Reopen windows when logging back - this is actually the point, so manually force quitting every time cannot be the solution) - some of the applications will start closing and sooner or later I get the following error message: "You haven't been logged out because the application Mail failed to quit. To try logging out again, quit Mail and choose Apple menu > Log Out. To suit an unresponsive application, choose Apple menu > Force Quit (or press Command-Option-Esc.)" Currently I used the workaround to Force Quit Mail and then it works, even if I restart Mail before restarting or shutting down.
