After "upgrading" to Lion, my MacPro refuses to complete either a Restart or Shut Down cycle. How can I discover what is hanging up the process? System: MacPro1,1; 8GB RAM, OS X 10.7.3, 4x2TB internal drives, all software updates applied.

This morning, I was in mail (I think I was in the midst of a draft which I did not care to save) and realized that I was late so I tried closing Mail using command q. Well, I get the desktop but I can't logout. When I hit the mail icon, it won't even open up my mail to do file, close. So I'm in limbo because I'm not able to shut down.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've update to 10.7.4, and ever since my iCal and Mail get the beach cursor - I've waited an hour and longer and then forced quit them, after that they work for a few minutes (Mail longer, iCal until you create or change an item). I realise that Spotlight is reindexing (since this morning, and still saying "estimating indexing time".

I constantly use Mail to send and receive emails on my MacBook. On it I have three email 'accounts' - my me.com address (for formal emails to work, banks etc.), my "junk" address (for spam, gaming etc.) and my "home" address (for personal emails and everything else). When typing an email, if I choose to send it from a different account than the one I originally selected, I can just change it in the 'From' pop-down menu (under the 'To', 'Cc', 'Bcc' and 'Subject' fields).Recently though, for some reason when I want to send an email from my "home" address, it sends it from my "junk"one instead, even if I am sending it 'From' my "home" address. It still has my "home" address' signature, and not every time it does send from my "junk" one instead - rather it seems to send from both as it feels up to.This bothers me quite a bit, especially when I send an important email using my "home" address but it sends from my "junk" - both confusing and annoying me and the recipients. This only just started happening to me this past week.

Something is wrong with my mail client. Even though I am 100% certain that the password is correct (I get mail on my iPhone and when I log onto iCloud site), my mail will not accept the password. I've tried even to delete the account and set it up again, but that doesn't work either.

I am running OSX Mavericks and using Mac Mail. I have several email accounts set up including 2 different gmail accounts. My preferences are set up so that new messages are supposed to send from my primary gmail account. However, over the past couple of days, when I reply to a previous message or create a new message the message appears to be sending from my primary gmail account. That's the address that shows up in the box showing from which account the message is being created. The message uses the signature that is set up for my primary gmail account, and the message appears in the primary gmail account's Sent mail folder. However, when I look at the actual message that was sent (I tested this by sending it to another non-gmail account of mine), the From email address showing up is my secondary gmail account. So, replies are coming back to that secondary account, not the account from which I sent it.
I do not have this problem when sending messages from my iPhone or iPad, so I'm pretty sure it's strictly a Mac Mail problem.
I've checked the Preferences to ensure that my Composing settings have it set up to send from my primary gmail account, and it is set up that way. When composing the message, everything indicates that it will be sent from the primary gmail account, but instead it goes out as if coming from my secondary gmail account.
This is definitely a new problem. I've not updated anything on the Mac OS recently. The only updates that have been applied recently are a Flash Player update and an MS Office update. This problem started before either of those were applied, I believe. I know for sure it happened before the Office update.
Trying to send email and keep get a message... [URL] And I don't really understand what to do.

My mail has been working fine on my mail app on my macbook pro... until recently. Its repeatedly prompting me for my password and then says it is incorrect and to try again. Upon going on the actual mail website and doing an online sign in I have realised that the password is infact correct. How can i resolve this. Additionally, its also happening on my iphone which is why I know its something I need to alter with my apple products.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhy are iTunes and Safari the two applications I have ever used that are most likely to hang and/or crash? I mean, what's so hard for Apple to make these two very heavily used applications stable?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWell, I didn't change or install anything but since this afternoon Safari began to pause about 3/4 of the way loading a page. It would hang for about 3 seconds, give me the color wheel then load the rest of the page.
So, I installed Firefox and Chrome and they both do the same thing.
It corrects English grammar and spelling amazingly. But if I'm typing a French essay I either have to make it turn off spelling/grammar corrections or be burned by a sea of red underlines. How can I get it to correct in French?

My camcorder is fairly old, it uses a tape, however it still downloads directly to iMovie digitally: don't ask. When I download it, I press import from camera. Then a window pops up and I press record, then it records the tape. However, once it makes a new event for it, and sometimes it imports under 2003! And I can't put it under the correct year!

Just as the thread title says, since updating to iPhoto '11, my event folders are not displayed in the right order according to the date the pictures were taken. Anybody else have this problem?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have pictures that are in the incorrect "Events." Since iPhoto '11 auto-creates Events based on the time period the photos were taken, it is inevitable to get some into an Event you don't want them in. I might take 15 pictures in the morning of the sunrise, then take some pictures at the baseball game, and then another of something that catches my eye sometime during the day, and then some more photos at sunset.
I want the sunrise/sunset/sky pics in one event, the ball game in another, and the solo picture in no event, or an event called "Misc." If iPhoto '11 lumps them all into one Sunrise Event, how do I go about separating them out?
I am relatively new to iTunes, and have burned dozens of CDs before. However, all of those CDs have been complete albums. I tried to burn my first mix recently, and found that the CD had been burned with the songs in the wrong order.
I must be doing something wrong, but there doesn't seem to be too many areas where iTunes makes it even possible to mess something this simple up, so I pretty confused.
I make a playlist, hit burn CD, select Audio CD, and go. The songs make it, but like I said, in the wrong order. They get organized by album, but I just want the CD to look like the playlist on the computer.
Has anyone run into something like this? It is iTunes 8.0.2.
I think, not sure, I closed Mail to reduce the programs running for something. When I got it up again it has the correct number of messages in say my Inbox, Outbox etc, but the messages are not there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my auto-correct has a dictionary based in spanish. Example: when editing my resume I have put down the word Administrative , but it says it is wrong and gives suggestions such as Administrativa or Administrativo.
I have changed the spell check options to only have US english as the default setting and this suddenly pops up. I never put Spanish in my international language settings on the mac, nor have I had someone who speaks spanish use the computer.
I am running Mac OSX 10.7.3 and I recently been having issues shutting down my computer with mail running. Sometimes it takes 2-3 mins for it to shut mail down and other times it says it couldn't shut down because of the mail app. Is there anything I can do short of reinstalling Lion?

As the title says, I just can't get Preview.app to print a 33 page PDF using 2 pages per sheet in the correct order. It will print two pages per sheet of paper, but page 1 will come on the right, 2 on the left, 3 on the right, etc. I tried every possible combination in the "Layout" menu to no avail.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a document that I've been working on in Text Edit. When I went to open it today it would not open and I got the message "the file could not be opened because it is not in the right format". I don't remember saving it any differently, last time. The only thing I did was change the font to a larger size, a few minutes before I last saved it. Could it be that it then became such a large document that text edit can't open it or is there something else I might have accidently done.
