I have an aluminum macbook with a 2.4Ghz core 2 duo processor. I am the second owner, but I have owned it for about a year and taken good care of it. The other day I was browsing the internet internet and my macbook just turned off. It didnt give any warning or go through a shutdown sequence, it cut the power and turned off all of a sudden. I should tell you that it has done this once before, about a week ago. However, in that case I was able to turn it right back on without any issues. Now, on the other hand, I cannot get it to do anything. No chime, no gray screen. All that happens is the little white light on the lower right side flashes for a brief second. There is no screen activity, and as far as I can tell by holding my ear up to the hard drive it does not start to spin at all. I have attempted to reset the pram and smc, but I have no idea if it is resetting. It was not hot at all when it shut down, it had been sleeping and I had only just started using it. It was still cool to the touch on the case. Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this? I do not have the money to replace the logic board, so I am hoping it is something else.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI keep getting "problem reports" when trying to open applications that have worked fine for years. Microsoft Word, Photopshop, Illustrator an Avery CD Sticker maker all give me the problem report window with the yellow trianlge and exclmation point when I try to open them and say: "____ has quit unexpectedly. Click reopen to open the application again. This report will be sent to Apple automatically." Clicking reopen offers the same thing again, and again, and again. It started yesterday with Photoshop and Illustrator, so I took them off my computer and tried to reinstall them. Now I get "Install Photoshop has quit unexpectedly. etc.." I ran the disc utility and it said my hard drive was OK.

I am running Mac OSX 10.7.3 and I recently been having issues shutting down my computer with mail running. Sometimes it takes 2-3 mins for it to shut mail down and other times it says it couldn't shut down because of the mail app. Is there anything I can do short of reinstalling Lion?

I am running 10.7.3 on two different machines. Some time ago Mail started quitting unexpectedly at least once a day on both machines. I have rebuilt the directories but this has not improved the behavior.

Upgraded to Yosemite, Mac Mail now quits unexpectedly.
I have 2 email accounts, one POP, one IMAP.
If I disable the IMAP account, all is good.
When I enable the IMAP account, mail crashes.
I've tried reindexing, and now I'm getting the following error:

If I go to the Finder from another application, the Finder quits and windows disappear. If I select "new finder window" finder repeatedly quits. After 10 or fifteen times (usually I just restart) I can get the finder window to stay open.
Using Safari and selecting a file to upload causes Safari to quit. Firefox works fine.
I have done a clean install. Problems persist intermittently.
Any advice on how I can fix this?
I just moved from windows to apple and when I opened mail and set my yahoo account in it, the application downloads all my messages {about 1200} and so far all is ok. But as soon as I click on one of these messages or any RSS, the application quits and I get " mail application quit unexpectedly" msg.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis morning, I was in mail (I think I was in the midst of a draft which I did not care to save) and realized that I was late so I tried closing Mail using command q. Well, I get the desktop but I can't logout. When I hit the mail icon, it won't even open up my mail to do file, close. So I'm in limbo because I'm not able to shut down.
