Is it possible to upgrade directly from Mac OS X 10.6.8 to OS X Lion ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought my Macbook Pro 13" in July 2010. The only main reason that led me to buy one is the idea that I can make life easier with OS X but also be able to use BootCamp for windows whenever I want. However, it seems that BootCamp crapped out on me, I can no longer fully install windows (Kept getting stuck at "completing installation"n)Â I've been tracking reviews and what not since Lion came out and most people with my model of MBP are saying that it slows down the MB's process quite a bit. There's nothing I can't stand more than a laggy system. Is there anyone with my model of Macbook Pro who upgraded to Lion finding it smooth sailing on your machine? I just really want BootCamp to work again and the only thing I haven't tried is upgrading my OS X.

can I upgrade my MacBook Pro (late 2006, Intel DualCore 2 Duo 2,16GH, 3GB RAM, OSX 10.6.8) to the new OS Lion? I would use iCloud sync on it, and other programs that are only for Lion. Is it possible? Is it advisable?

My husband and I rely heavily on our shared calendars through MobileMe and I've yet to switch to iCloud because of the complications I'm sensing it will cause us.I have an old MacBook that I've read can't be upgraded to Lion because it doesn't have the necessary hardware.I use iCal mostly in my MacBook and on my iPhone when I'm on the go. My husband just uses it on his iPhone. My question is - when I am forced to switch over to iCloud, will we lose our calendars that I can use on my MacBook? Will they only be available on our iPhones or online? Am I able to have all the functionality of our current calendars (with relative ease of use and syncing from a computer) without having to get a whole new computer/upgraded hardware?

I am thinking about upgrading my Macbook Pro to Lion from SL. If sometime in the future I need to fully restore my laptop can it be restored directly to Lion or would I have to use my SL disk that came with it first and then upgrade to Lion again? I regularly back up with Time Machine.Â

Both wi-fi and ethernet connect fine (showing IP addresses...green lights in Network Preferences), however, browser or other internet connected applications will not connect to the internet.
Seems like I have tried every solution I could find here on discussions.
My Macbook will not connect to my neighbors' network. Other computers and devices on my network are working perfectly. Ping is inconsistent...everything from timeout to 20msÂ

I read early discussion posts on this topic and thought by now Apple would have corrected this poblem but apparently not. I updgraded my MacBook Pro last night to Lion and since last evening I have had 5 black screen (failures) and had to power off and reboot. Is there a known correction or update to this problem? It is extremely disappointing as I need my Mac for my business and cannot afford to send it to a depot for a five day repair.Â
This same problem was happening to me with an older OS but ONLY when I used both PowerPoint and Parallels at the same time. For this probem I took the MacBook into the Genius Bar and had to leave it there through the weekend and all day Monday. They told me after running multiple tests they found no hardware problems and the issue had to be software. The only fix was a five day depot repair. I thought I would manage by not using PowerPoint and Parallels together but now, with the Lion Upgrade it happens with ALL apps and when I simply try to read an email.Â

Last week my hard drive broke (with Snow Leopard) and I brought my macbook pro to an Apple Store, the HD was totally broken and they couldn't restore any data. They installed a new hard drive with Lion, when I got home I restored my data with Time Machine, but now Safari and VLC aren't responding, Safari opens but that's it and VLC doesn't even opens. Also the CPU of VLC and Webprocess gets to 100 %.

I have a mid-2010 13" Macbook Pro. I wanted to upgrade to 8G of ram so I bought this: url...When it arrived in the mail I installed it and booted the laptop. The apple logo comes up, the spinner starts spinning and then after awhile freezes. I figured that I recieved bad RAM so I sent it back to apple and they sent me new memory. I installed the new ram and the same thing happened again. Booting in verbose mode (Apple-V) doesn't give anything useful. This time I decided to run memory tests. I booted into single user mode (which sees 8G of memory and works fine) and ran memtest overnight. It ran 6 or 7 passes without finding any memory errors. My next plan is to try to my DVD reinstall/repair the OS to see if that will help but I don't want to do that because I would have to downgrade to Snow Lepoard and then reinstall Lion and that takes long enough to try to avoid.

Could anyone tell me if you can upgrade from OS 10.5.8 directly to Lion, skipping snow leopard 10.6

In Snow Leopard and using Parallels I could print, email and work flawlessly. But I made the decision to upgrade to Lion and now I cannot for the life of me print From Parallels at all now. In a company where printing large sheets in a MUST - it disappoints me that I cannot use my machine as I need it to be used. I think Apple needs to reconsider their operating system. That is Lion, Parallels 7, Windows 7 and HP Designjet 500 42-inch. I can print just fine from Mac but not Parallels (this set up worked great on Snow Leopard/Parallels 7)
