Dec 23, 2010Display Port is not working, so i thought it may be a cable issue, tried the same cable and screen on a pc with a quadro 400 i have, and it works fine.

Mac Pro :: Radeon 5870 Versus Quadro 4000
Nov 21, 2010As I am waiting for Bare feats to have fun with the Quadro, some preliminary thoughts might be fun to think about.
- The Quadro 4000 is supported on the Mac Pro '08, the Radeon 5870 is not.
- X-Plane 9: the Radeon 5870 is not faster than the 4870 in the '08 Mac Pro. Maybe the Quadro 4000 will be faster?
- 2 GB VRAM on the Quadro... any chance gaming will benefit?
- Usually the "Pro-3D" card loses to good consumer 3D cards in gaming. Will this be true this time too?

Mac Pro :: Quadro FX 4500 X2 Is Not Working?
Jun 24, 2009I just got a PNY Quadro FX 4500 x2. I know some people has talked about Quadro FX 4500 before but after I got this card, I know it is different from single Quadro FX 4500 because it is two FX 4500 strap together, please refer to the product link here (URL)
I am currently using PC running Mac OSX 10.5.6 (iDeneb) and I think I probably need to flash this card before put into my computer. When I tried to use nvflash (the latest version) to flash the rom, I can back up two roms and it ask me two times when I used "nvflash -b" to back up each rom (rom 0 and 1). However, I can not put the fix rom back to my card. When I use "nvflash -4 -5 -6 -j" command. I know this must has something to do since my card has two roms.........but it is really beyond my knowledge and I don't know how to do it, when I tried to put the fix rom back to my card, it showed the error message below:

I think besides the flash rom problem, I also believe that I probably need someone help me to fix my original rom because the fixed rom I downloaded is not for FX 4500 x2, I couldn't find any fixed rom for FX 4500 x2, only FX 4500. Here I attach the original rom I back up from my card and hope some people can help me to look at it. Somehow I also think I might need to change my GFX string or something like that.
Again, this is just the problems I have found from now. After two weeks trying to search everything in the web I am very frustrating because it is hard to find people who use the same card like me. I am just a visual effects animator and I think some parts of flashing this card has gone beyond my knowledge. I know many people and genius here will know what's going on immediately and be able to help me out.

Hardware :: How To Print Panoramas Using An Epson Pro 4000 And CS2 On Mac OS ?
Jun 28, 2008I've been at this all nite and I am fed up. Can someone please tell me how I can print a panoramic print on roll paper using CS2 on a MAC (so please now windows advice) using an epson pro 4000? I constantly get the message that the wrong paper source is selected. Roll paper is fed into the printer, I select A2 roll paper (any of the A2 roll paper options), or I try a custom paper size (42x120 cm) on page setup. For paper I select velvet fine art paper (I don't really know what kind of paper it is to be honest), because that will select the rear feed. Unless I am mistaken (quite possible) the rear feed is used by roll paper.This does not work. I tried setting to A2, but then I get only an A2 size part of my print, and still it won't print anyway with the same annoying message. I don't have these problems with my R1800. With the R1800 I just select roll paper and everything automatically prints perfect, but not the pro 4000, can someone please explain to me what settings I have to use in page setup of CS2 and what settings I have to use in the printer driver of the pro 4000 printer ?

Jul 1, 2012My shiny new Macbook Pro has already had a logicboard (Mac-ish for motherboard) replaced due to this. Games (tested Battlefield Bad Company 2 and GTA IV) crash within a few minutes with the screen freezing and showing random colors as the sound starts stuttering and the only solution is to do a hard restart - see image below. GTA IV tells me that it only recognizes 60 MB VRAM so I guess that the problem is with the graphic card not being able to use the computers onbard RAM (8 GB Corsair Vengeance). The RAM doesn't fail any tests and the computer works like a charm in OSX for days on end, even with heavy Lightroom/Photoshop use. Drivers are up to date.

Mar 3, 2008It was slightly faster than than the GeForce 8800 GT running our six 3D accelerated games.
In another session, we performed a RAM Preview render on 15 Motion 3 templates. The Quadro FX 5600 (and GeForce 8800 GT) were slower than the Radeon HD 2600 XT in 14 out of 15 tests. The Radeon X1900 XT beat the nVidia cards rendering all 15 templates.
Tomorrow we will post results on our Windows Vista 64 tests (Prey, Doom 3, 3DMark06, etc.). As a preview, the Quadro was faster than the Radeon HD 2600 XT but slower than the GeForce 8800 GT running Prey and Doom 3. In the 3DMark06 benchmark the Quadro was faster than the GeForce 8800 GT.

Mar 18, 2008I have a friend who's dell died that has a Quadro FX 4500 in it and he is willing to offer it to me for free. I figure it is better then my 7300 I have now and might hold me over until Apple releases the 8800 for last gen Mac Pros.
The only snag in this is I have to find the Mac Pro firmware so I can put it on this card and hopefully use it.

When I turn MacPro on, immediately the sound "Beepp" is so loud and continute, it scared me then I turn it off. So what happened? Does the card have problem? Or my Mac? Jul 26, 2009I'm yet to figure out a pattern, but my Macbook Pro's keyboard will just stop working for several minutes at a time at random points in time...Even if I hit caps or num lock, they don't turn green. Sometimes it'll just happen once every few hours, but I was in class the other day and it would work for a minute, then not work for a few, than work for another minute, etc.

Nov 14, 2009I've noticed that occasionally my IR sensor stops working, and no longer responds to changing the volume, skipping the track in iTunes, etc. It can be resolved by going into Security prefs, disabling and re-enabling the IR sensor. This is annoying, however, and I'm wondering if it's a known issue that might be fixed.
I noticed that when you disable and re-enable the IR sensor, the last few remote button pushes you made while it was broken come through in a burst.

Apr 11, 2010I have tried a few thinsgs to try and get it to work including reseating the cables and that has not helped. As the title says, the back light works as i can see the screen getting blacker/greyer. Also the external output works as well. I'm not sure what to do at this point because I can't find information on an inverter board for the LCD, only the LED backlight think this could be an issue with the video card 8600M or is my LCD dead and I need a new one?
On a side note I have taken very good care of this computer, no drops, making sure the HDD is parked before moving, having it in a protective case, etc. The only difference is that I gave this to my sister to use and after a few days it died. (seems everything she gets that's electronic dies these days, meaning I probably shouldn't give her anything that has a circuit board in it....)

Jun 25, 2012I have recently purchased a cricual m4 256 gb ssd for my MBP mid 09 15''.i have installed lion, on it is have reset the ram, enabled trim (also disabled trail an error), sms and so on apprently it is not working.Most of the time i experience beachballs and lags for 30 sec to 1 min. i find it very fustrating, so i unplugged the ssd and plugged it to my mac with a usb. it is now working fluent but not as fast as it could but with 36 mb/s in writing speed and read speed. compared to 10-15 mb/s before. i am aware that it should perform a lot faster. what is wrong? i know it is not the ssd.

Jan 24, 2009I am using OS X 10.3. The apple menu doesn't work (for the past few months). When I click on it it's highlighted but doesn't pull down. I can not quit applications even if I use keyboard shortcuts (I have to force quit).
I tried starting with "safe boot" and I ran "Verify & repair disk permissions" but it didn't fix it.

May 29, 2008I have been connecting wirelessly to the same router for about 4 months now, using DHCP, and having the settings on the automatic connection. I left the computer on, but closed, so sleeping, for about two days. When i opened it, the battery did not yet run out but the internet has not connected since.
I have full connection in internet connect to my network. Status says connected. If I have the IPv4 using DHCP, the status says that i am connected but my computer have a self-assigned IP adress. When I put in the IP manually, the Network setting give me a green light on airport and says that I am connected to the network thru airport. Needless to say, no browsers (Firefox, Safari, Netscape, or Internet Explorer) have been able to connect to the internet.
I have tried running Disk Utility for any errors, but there have been no changes.
