View 4 Repliesseller said it's brandnew and a Mac version. I installed and followed their guide. When I turn MacPro on, immediately the sound "Beepp" is so loud and continute, it scared me then I turn it off. So what happened? Does the card have problem? Or my Mac? Is there any way to solve this? I've save money for long to buy the card.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIt was slightly faster than than the GeForce 8800 GT running our six 3D accelerated games.
In another session, we performed a RAM Preview render on 15 Motion 3 templates. The Quadro FX 5600 (and GeForce 8800 GT) were slower than the Radeon HD 2600 XT in 14 out of 15 tests. The Radeon X1900 XT beat the nVidia cards rendering all 15 templates.
Tomorrow we will post results on our Windows Vista 64 tests (Prey, Doom 3, 3DMark06, etc.). As a preview, the Quadro was faster than the Radeon HD 2600 XT but slower than the GeForce 8800 GT running Prey and Doom 3. In the 3DMark06 benchmark the Quadro was faster than the GeForce 8800 GT.
I have a friend who's dell died that has a Quadro FX 4500 in it and he is willing to offer it to me for free. I figure it is better then my 7300 I have now and might hold me over until Apple releases the 8800 for last gen Mac Pros.
The only snag in this is I have to find the Mac Pro firmware so I can put it on this card and hopefully use it.
I do a lot of 3D work which is why I plan on purchasing said card, but wanted to ask: How does it fair for playing games? Not that I care, but I am just curious since nobody I find tests it for anything but 3D Software.

So, I bought myself new Macbook Pro exactly 21 days ago, and was disappointed to find out that they refreshed it today.
However, I am heading to Apple Store Friday afternoon to find out what I can do to get that refreshed one. (I waited 7 month, until the last day of the presentation)So, to people with 320m graphics, are there any big difference? Does the battery lasts longer?
Display Port is not working, so i thought it may be a cable issue, tried the same cable and screen on a pc with a quadro 400 i have, and it works fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a PNY Quadro FX 4500 x2. I know some people has talked about Quadro FX 4500 before but after I got this card, I know it is different from single Quadro FX 4500 because it is two FX 4500 strap together, please refer to the product link here (URL)
I am currently using PC running Mac OSX 10.5.6 (iDeneb) and I think I probably need to flash this card before put into my computer. When I tried to use nvflash (the latest version) to flash the rom, I can back up two roms and it ask me two times when I used "nvflash -b" to back up each rom (rom 0 and 1). However, I can not put the fix rom back to my card. When I use "nvflash -4 -5 -6 -j" command. I know this must has something to do since my card has two roms.........but it is really beyond my knowledge and I don't know how to do it, when I tried to put the fix rom back to my card, it showed the error message below:
Checking for matches between display adapter(s) and image(s)......

I think besides the flash rom problem, I also believe that I probably need someone help me to fix my original rom because the fixed rom I downloaded is not for FX 4500 x2, I couldn't find any fixed rom for FX 4500 x2, only FX 4500. Here I attach the original rom I back up from my card and hope some people can help me to look at it. Somehow I also think I might need to change my GFX string or something like that.
Again, this is just the problems I have found from now. After two weeks trying to search everything in the web I am very frustrating because it is hard to find people who use the same card like me. I am just a visual effects animator and I think some parts of flashing this card has gone beyond my knowledge. I know many people and genius here will know what's going on immediately and be able to help me out.
Here is my computer hardware configuration:
Motherboard: TYAN Tempest i5000XT (S2696)
CPU: Intel Xeon e5345 quadcore x 2
RAM: 6G ECC RAM
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 zs
Graphic Card: PNY nVidia FX 4500 x 2 1G
OS: Leopard 10.5.6
As I am waiting for Bare feats to have fun with the Quadro, some preliminary thoughts might be fun to think about.
- The Quadro 4000 is supported on the Mac Pro '08, the Radeon 5870 is not.
- X-Plane 9: the Radeon 5870 is not faster than the 4870 in the '08 Mac Pro. Maybe the Quadro 4000 will be faster?
- 2 GB VRAM on the Quadro... any chance gaming will benefit?
- Usually the "Pro-3D" card loses to good consumer 3D cards in gaming. Will this be true this time too?
NVIDIA has released a critical Mac OS X driver update for the GeForce GTX 285 and Quadro FX 4800. It is recommended that the new drivers be installed immediately. Users must install the new drivers PRIOR to the next Mac OS X update after 10.5.7 in order to avoid system compatibility issues. The driver update is needed to prevent Mac OS X system issues and will affect users who plan to update to the next Mac OS X update after 10.5.7. I am going to college this year to study Graphic Design and i am looking to purchase a MBP 15". I have read a couple of other threads which cover similar questions however i am not truly satisfied with the answers i have read.
My MBP will have to run the following programs on a regular basis: Photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash. It will also have to run basic tasks such as word processing, internet surfing and email. Finally i would also like to install parallels and XP on the machine just in case an work or applications need to be run on windows. Obviously all of these applications will not be running simultaneously however there is a strong chance 2 or 3 maybe running at the same time. My Imac deals with this without problems, will the MBP be the same?

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (early 2008) Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro
The NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT features 512MB of dedicated GDDR3 memory, uses the PCI Express 2.0 interface, and includes two dual-link DVI ports.
Just noticed that Engadget are reporting that Nvidia are set to launch the GTX 285 in June for Macs.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs u can see I have a 17" mbp and had it for a few months but after the nvidia announcement, Im seriously thinking about selling the mbp and using the which will cover for a 2.8ghz 8 core mp.
One of my fears is that the gpu will die over the years on the mbp and when apple care runs out or even if the mbp is covered by ac knowing that one day I would need to get it serviced..
I know I had the mp before and know what to expect and while the 17" mbp is a desktop replacement it is portable. Damn nvidia!
Sorry this is more of a venting thread than anything else.
Also curious anyone else on the same boat as I am with selling their mbp fora mac pro?
Looking around, I stumbled across an article that might interest those who plan to purchase a Nehalem Mac Pro.Quote:NVISION ? If you want to combine a pair of GeForce graphics cards with a new Core i7 processor from Intel later this year, you're in luck. Just after the grand finale for its Nvision conference, Nvidia gathered reporters to inform them of a somewhat surprising and apparently very recent decision: the firm plans to enable its SLI multi-GPU scheme to work with Intel's X58 chipset?without the need for an nForce 200 PCI Express bridge chip on the motherboard

A couple of months ago we heard about the Nvidia GTX 285 coming to the mac pro which i personally loved the idea of (I have a 1TB drive for mac and a 1TB drive for windows vista 64 for some general gaming). But it seems word on this illustrious card has fallen silent. Does anyone know what's happened to the card? Has it been released? Will it be released by BFG, EVGA, Apple etc?
I just replaced my boot drive, only to realize that I am not even able to boot to the OSX install disk with the GTX 285 installed... I had the same symptom when I first got the card, because you have to install the evga drivers prior to installing the card.
So... the question... is there anyway to do a fresh OSX install with the GTX 285 installed, ther than putting a card Apple supports?
My old G5 dual 1,8 Ghz with FX5200 was not able to run HD video, so I bought nVidia 7800 GS AGP video card (PC card flashed for Mac) via eBay and now everything "work perfectly" - sometimes. ( Ha ha).
The problem is: On booting, when the circle stop to rotate, display freeze (LG Flatron L192WS) and I must restart pushing power button. I repeat booting for 7-8 times and if I have luck 9th will start up my Mac.
In SAFE MODE there is no problem with booting.
On my Mac Pro (early-2009, ATi 4870), the Flash movie window flickers and sometimes goes black.
Should I spring and get a nVidia GTX285?
I've seen many people post that they want to see an ATI GPU. I was wondering if there was a particular reason for this. I don't know much about Nvidia's chips, do they not offer any with comparable performance and efficency?
