MacBook Pro :: Intel HD 4000 Doesn't Recognize RAM In Mid 2012
Jul 1, 2012
My shiny new Macbook Pro has already had a logicboard (Mac-ish for motherboard) replaced due to this. Games (tested Battlefield Bad Company 2 and GTA IV) crash within a few minutes with the screen freezing and showing random colors as the sound starts stuttering and the only solution is to do a hard restart - see image below. GTA IV tells me that it only recognizes 60 MB VRAM so I guess that the problem is with the graphic card not being able to use the computers onbard RAM (8 GB Corsair Vengeance). The RAM doesn't fail any tests and the computer works like a charm in OSX for days on end, even with heavy Lightroom/Photoshop use. Drivers are up to date.

I am attempting to install software on my new MacBook Air 13", with my LG Portable Super Multi Drive. It works perfectly on my MacBook Pro, and other macs, but when I plug it into the USB port of my new MacBook Air, it spins, acts like it wants to load the disk, but it doesn't ! Â
I have 2 Macbook Pro's, a 2009 and this brand new one I got today. My external hard drive is a 1 TB clickfree. It has worked for months on my old Mac but when I plug it into my new mac it doesn't even show up in finder or disk utility. I tried the USB ports with another device and they work fine. So it isn't a hard ware issue. The cables are USB 3.0. The external hard drive model number is HD2037N3.I have tried taking everything off (huge pain) and reformatting the drive and still it doesn't recognize it! how I can get my Mac to recognize it?
I tried to burn a photo cd with the burn folder, but the blank media disc does not mount on the desktop after I insert the blank cd. The computer doesn't know there is a blank media disc in the drive and won't even eject it. I have to reboot the computer for the Imac to spit it out.
Nothing appears on the desktop, and the DVD doesn't play (this is the second DVD I've tried). The drive works to download software though. These are commercial DVDs from Lovefilm in the UK - there are bound to be some scratches - does this mean I can only play new DVDs?Â
Also, if I click Finder to eject the DVD, the command is light gray, meaning the IMAC has not actually registered that there's a DVD in the drive, so I have to log off and on again for the DVD icon to appear on the desktop, at which point I can eject it. However, if I click it, it doesn't play. I'd really like to play films if I can.Â
I don't know what operating system I have, except that it's MAC OS X. I only just got it new two days ago.
I updated my macbook air (mid 2012) to OSX Mavericks 10.9.4 a fortnight ago and now I cannot use my camera because the system shows that it doesn't exist.
Using Migration Assistant, I'm trying to transfer back-up files (whole system) from my Western Digital, External HDD to a new-to-me iMac which I've just purchased used. The External HDD has all my files (hopefully!) from my recently stolen iMac. As you can imagine, the circumstances are a bit unexpected and unsettling.
I've followed Apple's instructions for using MA with an external drive, but get hung up like others before me when it comes time for my new (used) computer to locate the disc from which to transfer the files. I've read the replies to others who have posted with similar difficulties using Snow Leopard, but resolving the issue seems to be just out of reach. Â
Original computer is now unavailable (stolen); it last ran on Snow Leopard, 10.6.3 to 6.8.New computer is used, and also runs on 10.6.8.Both computers are iMac 2009, tho slightly different versions, if that has any bearing on things.I created a temporary account on my new-to-me computer to make the data transfer, so that there wouldn't be an accounts conflict, as others have suggested.Western Digital External HDD, "My Book, Studio Edition," 1TB. I'm using the FireWire 800 port on the iMac. If I need to erase the hard drive on my "new" computer, I'll need a little instruction and hand-holding on that one.Â

I try to connect my soundcard motu 896 MK3 to the firewire plug and my computer doesn't recognize it. When i check on the apple menu/about this mac/more info/firewire it says that it can't figure out what hardware is connected. If i plugg another device through the same firewire plugg then it works.
I have some issue with my 2012 Macbook Pro Retina. The screen intermittently decides to just not work. Sometimes on startup i hear the start up noise but the screen doesn't turn on. I am able to remote into the computer when the screen doesn't work. I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason as to when it works and when it doesn't. I've reset the PRAM and SMC sometimes that will bring the screen back sometimes not. Â

I have a white macbook. I went on holidays and when I returned, the battery had and x through it. It wasn't plugged in. I try and check the cycle count, but since it doesn't recognize the battery, it won't say.
my GF and a glass of Wine. Cat hits wine and wine hits MBP. The Mac shut off instantly, we acted pretty quick and mopped up and turned upside down. I then took back off and over the course of the next 5 days I have stripped it down completely including the Key board and cleaned as best as I could. I've put it all back together and it starts up, a reassuring tone rings out, then apple sign appears with a loading bar beneath, this takes a while then it reaches the Lion log in page.It still recognizes me, or rather my name as the user but refuses my password which I know is correct. The keyboard isn't backlit but keys are typing something (can't see characters, just dots). Screen brightness works. No back light on keys although this may be normal at this point, not sure.Â
My macbook doesn't recognize my new modum. I have to select it every time I log on and then comfirm the change by imputting my administrator's password. How do I get it to recognize my network as "preferred"?
a few days ago, something weird happend, my 15" macbook pro just stop recognizing the internal speakers or the headphones, just died. The icon in the menu bar is low gray and do nothing the volume buttons appear with a forbidden sign I dont know wath to do?
my mac book pro is not recognizing my WD 500 GB external hardrive. I checked and double checked to make sure the external was mac compatible before I bought : and it was. It also is not recongizing an WD external hardrive I borrowed from a co-worker. Here is what I have done and checked so far.Â
- I checked to see if the externals worked on other Mac Pros( just to double check mac compatibility)-Â they showed up on on 4 different Mac books.
- I checked to see if there was something wrong my usb ports. So I incerted my 4 GB flash drive in the USB port, and then my co-workers 4GB Flashdrive- My computer recognized both the devices.
- My computer was very full ( that is why I bought a bigger hardrive to back up my files) so I thought maybe there just wasnted even enough free space for my computer to recongize the devices. So I freed up 70GB of hardrive space on my mac book. - still nothing.
- I also checked to make sure I had the suggested software updates to run the drive, before I bought it. Â
I have an HP printer hardwired to my iMAC and have been sharing the printer, wirelessly through the home network, with an older Powerbook G4. I've added a third laptop (Mac Pro) which also shares the Wireless network, but can see the Printer online. I get a message that the Printer is not Online.
why the third laptop can't see the printer online?
My Mac book pro would not boot up. Only trouble I've had is it was getting slow to boot up I tried to reinstall OS X is it didn't show my hard drive. I put in a new 750 gig Western Digital and went to install OS X and I have the same problem I go to install and on the screen that you choose your hard drive it s
Doesn't show up. I went to disk utilities and only my DVD drive and portable hard drive shows up.
I just bought 2 - 4 gb memory to ugrade my 2 - 2 gb memory on my macbook pro 13" early 2011. Installed them and rebooted. The About Mac still shows 4 mb memory and looking farther it shows it has 2 - 2 mb memory. Also, now when I close the lid on the computer and it shuts down completely and not just go to sleep. i do not know if the two are related.
I started having problems with Yosemite and lion (installed in the same hard drive, different partitions) so i erase all and instal mavericks, the macbook is late 2009 stock but i don't have startup disk, when i install mavericks it tells me that wont boot and it went an error trying to install, so i am able to boot with the alt key but my mac doesn't recognize de boot disk, when i try to select the startup disk on preferences it tells me: "You can’t change the startup disk to the selected disk. The bless tool was unable to set the current boot disk.", what i can do, i can boot with the alt key but it doesn't boot automatically.
so just like the title says I'm having some trouble as I did a recent upgrade to snow leopard and I have been beach balling a lot. I read that I should do a fresh install and heres where I ran into problems. My external HD is not appearing in finder. It used to work just fine before and it works fine on all of my roommates macs. I tried rebooting to see if it would fix the problem and all that happened was it made my bluetooth module say it was unavailable. Anyone have any ideas on what to do?
When my laptop stopped recognizing my external keyboard and mouse I searched the discussions and found an answer that has worked, but only temporarily. It was to do a PRAM reset 3 times and when I do this the keyboard and mouse work fine. But when I disconnect the mouse and keyboard and then later reconnect it will not recognize them. I have repeated the PRAM reset 3 times each time this has happened (4 times) and they work fine but then there is always a problem when I disconnect and reconnect.Â
macbook doesn't recognise external sandisk card reader, USB 3,in the shop said my mac with usb 2 would talk to each other, not happening, no icon on the desktop nothing.
To provide some background on my issue, my portable hard drive format was NTFS, and I wished for it to be FAT-32. I was trying to transfer some files over from my Windows computer to my Mac, however it wouldn't work due to the formatting. To change the formatting, I used some third-party software and started the conversion (without formatting the drive so that I could keep all my files) however mid way through the process, my stupid laptop entered sleep mode and stopped everything. Â
When I tried to re-plug the hard drive in my Mac, it didn't show up in the finder, but the Disk Utility did find it. The model I have is the iStorage DiskGenie portable hard drive. Â
