Mac Pro :: Mac Seems To Be Stuck On Installing 3 Items / Running Package Scripts
Mar 12, 2012
Has anyone had problems with the latest update ? My Mac seems to be stuck on installing 3 items - running package scripts..I also have an installation alert that says to close iTunes to continue installation. However iTunes wasn't even opened when I started the software update.
My computer is stuck on updating software Leopard for last 6 hours. It shows 99% done but process is not ending and update not completing.. Can I just hang up and reboot.
I'm trying to install Final Cut Studio (6.0.1) on a C2D MBP running Snow Leopard (10.6).
This is my third attempt, after restarting and then shutting down and resetting PRAM, and the install keeps getting hung up on "Running package scripts..."
Installer is responsive, it's just getting stuck for some reason.
Does anyone else have a problem with items getting 'stuck' between desktops so that you can see them as you move between desktops, but can't access them? Â
I created an e-mail by dragging a photo to the Mail icon in the dock, but nothing happened so I repeated the exercise. Still nothing happened. I then created the e-mail by copying and pasting the photo into a new blank e-mail and thought nothing more about it. But now, when I swipe between desktops, I can see the two e-mails, complete with photos but no text, straddling two desktops but can't click on them to delete them.

I am on OX 10.4.1.1 I think or maybe just 10.4.1 I know that some corrupted files got on my desktop and its preventing me from accessing my desktop but I can still get applications to run, I tried removing the files using Terminal but when I do so it says Access Denied. This is my computer and there are no other users on this. I believe I backed up all my files to an External a few days before, how to get finder to load properly so I can delete the corrupted files or know another way to get the files to the trash since I cannot see them.
Just got a new Mac Pro and manually downloaded 10.5.2, installing in safe boot mode. After rebooting in safe boot mode (while still IN safe boot mode) I ran software update to install the other 14 items that hadn't yet been done. When this was done, I clicked "restart" and the next thing I know, software update appears to be running "automatically" (with a progress bar the only thing on screen) installing 14 (more?) items! Pretty sure it's the same 14 items I just installed. The second install went a lot faster - assuming it at least figured out some of the items had been installed. I disabled Software Update's automatic download of updates, but it must have downloaded these before I did so.
I restarted my virtual machine (I'm using VMware Fusion) and my virtual machine has been stuck installing upates for about 4 hours or so. Anything I can try to get out of this?
I use a White MacBook (early 2008) with OS X Lion on it. I checked for updates recently, when I found that OS update 10.7.4 was available.Â
When I started the update, the Software Update utility asked me to update by restarting. After I did this, the update got downloaded and the machine restarted. Now, it is getting stuck on the boot screen with the Apple logo replaced by a 'circle with a line in it' (like a typical "not allowed") logo.Â
I installed SL a few days ago and had to rebuild my Time Machine backup. It powered through all 700GB today and then it kept going. The progress bar got to the max: 700/700, then went to 700.02/700.02 ,, 700.03/700.03 ,, 700.04/ 700.04 ,, etc. Currently it's adding onto the "inprogress" file and filling up the drive with more data than I had to backup! It's done 844GB out of 700. Keep in mind, this is a totally-from scratch backup here! Do I stop it? Do I wait until it fills up the drive and "figures it out" ?
When installing apps through Installer (from .dmg disk images and .pkg packages), everything works smoothly until it asks me for a password. When I enter it, Installer goes back to the screen before it asked me for the password. When I click next, it asks me for my password, and the cycle repeats. I tried removing my password to no avail. I can install .pkg files from the sudo installer -pkg command. I dont know how to do this for installers that are in app form.

Now sometime during takedown, someone just decided to unplug something from my computer without consulting me or taking any proper precautions. Now my audio is stuck on Digital Output (type digital optical out). Here's what I know, and what I've tried.I have reset the PRAM/NVRAM?I have killed coreaudio a few times with no luck?I have deleted without progress:
1) com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist
2) com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
3) com.apple.systemsound.plist
I have restarted my computer?I have attempted to use Audio MIDI Setup?I have googled:
1) com.apple.systemsound
2) macbook pro stuck on digital out audio no red light
3) force resetting to internal audio osx
4) force reset coreaudio osx

So with the whole Flashback/Flashfake thing I paniced (stupid on my part) ran a virus program called VirusBarrier Express and ran CCleaner (again, stupid me). Hoping I would clear off unused or harmful files I apparently in the process messed up my context menu. Items that were previously in the context menu are now gone. I did as much reading about possible fixes as I could and this is where everything stands.Â
Not every item in the image below was at the botton of the context menu, but iPack certainly was as well as various other menu items that have since dissapeared.Â
While searching the internet I came across a suggestion leading me to "library/Contextual Menu Items" and when I followed that directory for both my user and system I couldn't find a Contextual Menu Items folder. There wasn't any. I've had this "missing file/folder" problem before with preference files; just a side note.Â
I created the folder manually and restarted with no change at all.Â
Obviously I accidentally deleted something that shouldn't have been deleted. Is there any way to get back those missing items?Â
Mac started to run slow every now and then, updated to yosemite and now getting worse, slow to open programmes like iPhoto (getting jammed when using), websites and switching between the two. Get a coloured wheel often. More worryingly recently when waking from sleep, the left half of my screen is distorted like an old unturned TV!!

I have successfully installed Windows Vista Home Premium on my MBA through Boot Camp. I have tried to install the MBA drives from the OS X install disk repeatedly, but without success. The "setup.exe" seems to be working fine, but after restart, Windows does not seem to recognize the Mac drives. Updating the drives manually did not improve the situation. Does anyone know how to install the drives correctly?
When trying to install Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro on my iMac running 10.9.4, the install will not finish and hangs when installer indicates "running package scripts".
I downloaded a HUD which is a creasar theme for mac snow leopard.
[URL]
And I have made a mistake during I am installing the ceasar theme.
I did click on Install directly without running Theminator first.
So I ran it after I installed the theme which I did not know I must do the oppisite so finder now not working all apps are closing it self menubar gone
my OS just pissed of because of my rushness so is there anyway i can reset to the original theme from terminal? because I cannot install or open doing anything when i log to the OS.
Any time I try to remove an icon from the dock or an item from the login items and then logout/restart they come right back. It's like OS X is remembering my last login and then just duplicating it. I can't get it to keep it the settings I give it. Google and a quick search of the forums gave me nothing.
My own account login items list in my systems preferences window is limited to one item- an istat menus helper app. But my mac hd/library/StartupItems folder contains two items that I don't recognize and don't think have much to do with starting up the computer. One is a Qmaster folder and another is named RDUSB00A3Startup. Each folder contains a few items, including a unix executable file and a plist file. My mac hd/system/library/StartupItems folder is empty. Can anyone please advise on whether the items in my mac hd/library/StartupItems folder are necessary and if deleting them could affect my computer? I don't use Qmaster and have no idea what the RDUSB00A3Startup folder is for.
how can I install a windows based application on my mac and run the program without installing windows? I have tried a program called crossover which is supose to be an emulator but it doesn't seem to work.
i've tried to install 10.5.2 via the software update and directly downloading the update. either way, it eventually says it can't validate the contents of the package.
am i the only one who is not able to install the update? is there a solution to my problem?
I tried ripping my DVDs onto my macbook and I keep getting a msg saying that it needs 64-bit VLC to rip the dvd? So I go to the link and on the VLC media player download section it says: Note: VLC will not be available for 64-bits Intel-based Macs until further notice. You can safely use the 32-bits package instead.
I have just switched to my very first MBP after being a PC user for many years. Could someone please recommend a decent anti virus software package for the Mac?
Someone has accessed my computer and installed Iroffer.[URL]
I have located the folder in which it was installed, but I can not find the uninstaller.
In the Terminal, I can see that someone has been using FTP in order to download the packaged file, and subsequently ran the ./Config command to install it.
I have checked the iroffer website on how to uninstall, but nothing comes up.
Installer is unable to open the package. This is likely due to Install framework's runner executable not having the proper ownership and/or permissions.
