View 1 RepliesEver since i installed Lion on my Macbook which previously ran Snow Leopard, it has started to run slow.

MacBook Pro 17", 2.16 intel core duo
Mac started to run slow every now and then, updated to yosemite and now getting worse, slow to open programmes like iPhoto (getting jammed when using), websites and switching between the two. Get a coloured wheel often. More worryingly recently when waking from sleep, the left half of my screen is distorted like an old unturned TV!!

I have a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X, Version 10.6.8 and Safari has started running really slowly, all of a sudden. I've tried Firefox and Google Chrome, which run faster, but not much. Wi-Fi has been checked and is not the problem. I've emptied my cache and reset Safari. My disc usage is 15%, my system memory says that I have 2.35 GB of free space, and there are no "page outs". All of the programs, on my computer, that do not require internet access run fine. My firewall is off.

My Safari browser has been running slow since upgrading to Mavericks last fall. Some webpages (Facebook, USAA) won't even fully load, while others load fine. I've read a lot of the other posts about slow Safari and I've tried the other tricks that people have posted (Changing DNS to the Google one, using "Reset" on Safari, turning off extensions and plug-ins) I finally downloaded Chrome and it's just as fast as my safari "used" to be. So it can't be the internet connection because both my phone/iPad browsers are super fast and my MacBook Pro's Chrome is super fast. I just want to go back to using Safari!Â

View 5 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Safari 4 today after it was released, but it's running REALLY slow for me. Especially on pages with a lot of images, and most websites I view have lots of images. It's constantly freezing, I always get that spinning rainbow, etc. I want to go back to Safari 3, but I can't figure out how. The safari4 dmg doesn't come with an uninstaller. And I can't re-download Safari 3 because I have a newer version on my computer. What can I do?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI've been having an incredibly slow time with surfing the internet, and this has been going on for a few weeks. In order to make sure it wasn't due to the history or the cache, I've repeatedly erased them multiple times, cleaned up my desktop to make sure I didn't have any sort of files that could've potentially attributed to this, and have 700 GB left on my Mac, which should be plenty of space to not be considered full. It takes anywhere up to 30 second to a minute and a half to load a webpage.
Adding onto the frustration, loading or even watching a YouTube or any kind of video is just a pipe dream. Anytime I even click on a video, it just makes any that I click on to be one second long, then just suddenly end the video. Either that, or it pauses and takes forever to load. Before I went to school and work, I decided to test to see how long it would take for a five minute video to completely be able to watch so I left it paused, then left for the day. I came back twelve hours later, and it wasn't even half way done.

Safari has been running slow for me lately. There is no problem with my internet connection. I have firefox too and it works blazing fast. So, why does safari run really slow?
View 2 Replies View RelatedScrolling pages is jerky. It can't even keep up with my typing speed. When I am done writing a sentence, I wait and watch it type back to me. This list of websites that don't work completely correctly also is growing. These do not happen in Firefox...I hate to abandon Safari and lose all my bookmarks. What can I try to do?

I have an iMac model identifier 9.1, with Mac OS X v10.5.8 and safari version 5.0.6. All programs are running normally (fast) except safari. When I try to load webpages it takes about 11 seconds to fully load. All other computers in my house are connected to the same internet and running fine. What do I do to make the loading faster?

After installing OS X Lion on my Imac (middle 2007)
start up is very slow. Screen stays white with grey progress bar very slow to complete.
Then, after maybe 15 minutes, the desk screen appears and the Imac seems to work normally. I had upgraded the RAM to 3 Go before installing OS X Lion.

I have this MBP 13'' Mac OS X 10.7.5 running a 2.4GHz i5, 4GB RAMs and 500GB storage. The problem started yesterday when I was typing on Word and I copy pasted something from the net (chrome browser) then it froze.I waited for around 5minutes and still frozen with the spinning wheel, then I decided to turn it off by pressing power for 10 seconds restarted my
MBP then now it running so slow on start-up and apps are very slow to open like around 5 minutes. Every action that I try to do like clicking on the apple in the upper left it freezes showing a spinning wheel and it will take time to show the drop down options. I checked disk utility and it said that HD is ok, done verify/permission verify and repair.
I checked the activity monitor noting the ram/CPU usage and its normal it even tells that 2GB of ram is not use.It shows not responding in the activity monitor if you open an app for around 5mins then it opens or it will crash.I already done the 2 kinds of reset and did not work.BUT it opens normally in Safe mode.Â

Over the past month Lion has been crashing, running slow and freezing constantly.\Â I am not used to having so many PC type issues on my Mac. I have done Disk repair in utilities and removed unecessary programs at start up.Â

My iMac internet has become so slow I tend not to use it much at all. An adjacent PC runs fine so it seems to be a software issue and is relatively recent.

I have a 2008 MBP with 4gb of RAM. I upgraded via fresh install to Lion and ever since I've had this computer running literally 1/2 the speed it did on Snow Leopard. I've tried Googling and done everything everyone was saying to do but no changes. I also noticed that no matter what I do, when I run disk utility and check permissions it comes back with files that have problems but nothing I do will actually repair them. I'd also like to know if there is any way to turn off the absolutely dumb full screen apps and mission control and launch pad stuff as i'm sure that all the extra graphics requirements has to be hurting my performance a bit. I'm not sure what all the desktop developers have been smoking lately but last I checked a computer was not a phone and trying to mimic the interface is just dumb. There is nothing useful about anything they've done in Lion that I can see. It all looks cool but trying to use it on a daily basis it just stinks. Even the full-screen apps that I though would be cool stinks because it takes longer to swith from one to the other and you loose the top menu while in it which requires extra effort just to see what time it is.Â

My DSL speed has droped from 3 Mbps (normal) to around .2Mbps. All other Macs on my home network are doing fine, one w. Tiger OS, the other Snow Leopard. Â
But get this -- when I launch Activity Monitor, DSL speed immediately jumps up to normal. Close A.M. and my DSL speed is back down to almost non-functioning.

I edit using Lightroom and Photoshop and I'm having an issue while editing. After editing around 8-10 photos in Photoshop the computer starts running unbelievably slow. After each 8-10 photos I have to close down everything and reboot. Even the reboot process is super slow as I have to force quit each application usually 1-2 times to get it to close. Is this normal? I have a 2011 17" with 2.2 GHZ i7 with 8GB ram. Is there any setting that I can change or be aware of.

Do I need a new computer , what should I go for to have a smooth running mac?Was thinking of a new IMac 27-inch: 2.7GHz with 4gb memory.Â
