My Mac mini starts with a white screen but stays on the apple logo and the small circle as if it is booting. I turn it off manually and switches it back again after a while. This time no apple logo appears, but got 2 symbols popping up and blinking as shown in the pictures attached.

My step mom has an iMac. The first gen intel one and the other day out of nowhere there was a white screen with a folder on it and now when you go to start up the iMac the screen just stays white.. What would be the cause of this and what should I do to fix it .. thank you

I dropped my Macbook while in the hospital yesterday recouping from spinal surgery now I am really pissed! So when I power it on I get a grey screen with the apple logo and the hard drive making uncommon noises. It never makes it to the password screen, what can I do? Help me please as having this terribly bad back is one thing but losing my Macbook too with all my Logic music etc is really decimating. Thanks guys....
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have read lots of posts regarding the WSOD and know the fixes etc. But I have just bought a brand new mac mini (intel 2.4 GHZ dual core, 160 GB hd) with Snow Leopard and ilife etc all preinstalled. When switching this on for the very first time I got the white screen of death and had to hold the power button to restart it... then it booted fine and I was able to set it up.

I never used Messages on my Mac but after I started using handoff now I wanted to use it.So after I opened my Messages app on my mac and typed in my ID Password the window opened but just stayed white.I receive the messages people write me, but only iMessage messages, no sms messages, but everytime I want to reply the window stays white.Also I can't open the preferences it's like the app is not opening completely? So my 20" 2.4 Imac crashed on me twice tonight. A box popped up telling me to hold down the restart button for several seconds to restat. The second time I did this it just sits with a white screen and give three loud beeps over and over. Is there a fix for this? Is it my ram? I'm at a loss.

Nothing I can do apart from a hard restart by pressing the start button will wake the computer up. I don't know what to do to fix this. Is it something in settings?

Anyone seen anything like this before. I can actually see part of it right on the white of the page I am typing in this thread.
When I go to front row, all my video content plays sound, but the picture is just a pure white screen (shows the slider to move chapters, etc., but the screen is just white).
Any ideas for solutions? I did google searches, etc., to no avail. I have a MP (not early 08), which I upgraded the graphics card to a 2600XT, and it's running Leopard.
Im really sorry if this is a silly question. I was playing football manager, then had to dash off somewhere for 15 mins, by the time i got back the screen was black, i just assumed it was on standby, i pressed space bar to carry on playing and NOTHING happened.. i pressed the on|off button and nothing happened.. i pressed and held the button to switch it off.. nothing happened..
It is still running now, but nothing is activating it, i pressed the caps lock button to see if the keyboard was operating and it didnt light up as normal.Im just letting the battery drain on it to see if it does anything on the reboot.. i dont know what else to do.. please advise!!!I only purchased it on Fri.. so its 2 days old i really hope it isnt broken already, there must be a simple answer for this? I have an MBP about 2 yrs. old. This morning when booting up, the computer made the chime sound and appeared to turn on but the screen stayed completely dark. I tilted it around and tried to see if the backlight was just dead, but there appears to be absolutely nothing on the screen. Furthermore, the little light that normally pulses while the computer is sleeping is on, though not pulsing, anyone know what's going on?
View 4 Replies View RelatedLoaded pics up for the 1st time from my 7d into Aperture 1.5 and left my computer on, woke up and it wouldn't come out of sleep. I did a hard shutdown holding down the power button and the screen just stays black and I never hear the chime, light on power button is solid white. Since I'm on vacation with my wife and infant daughter I don't have time to mess around troubleshooting but see it may be a failed logic board? Do they just fail randomly or what? My aunt that I'm staying with turned off a surge protector a light was plugged into, I was using her power charger for her MacBook Pro and only this morning found out it was plugged directly into the outlet below the surge protector was on that she flipped off.
Could that have created a surge on the other plug or something? She does this all the time with her MacBook Pro plugged in and its never created a problem, I'm writing this post from her computer right now! (Only brought the Mac out because my iPad wouldn't load the photos for some reason, don't know if it has something to do with the HD video or because I also had photos from my Canon 50d on there or if that has something to do with my Mac's problem?) I've attempted an SMC restart and it does the same thing? I'm now extremely stressed thinking I may have lost all my pics that I haven't backed up in months of my infant daughter. When I start it up I hear an initial sound of a hardrive spin or fan but then its basically silent.

This 5 year old iMac makes the seek optical drive sound when switched on, but does not chime, but I can hear the hard drive going afterwards.
The screen just stays black, not a flicker.
The problem is that it is located in a small pretty isolated town in NE Brazil, I will be going back out there later in the summer so if anyone has any helpful ideas it would be most welcome. Fortunately we have a full CCC clone of the hard drive and a working MBP so we haven't lost anything, but it would be very good to have it working again.
Does it have a socket for an external monitor, I really cannot remember, as I have not seen it since November, I know the old round iMacs had one.
The nearest Mac store is probably in Rio or Sao Paulo which are a good day travelling by car and plane so there is no chance of getting it there.

My brother's iBook G4 (I think it's a 2003 model) has a problem with the screen. When the computer is turned on, the screen stays black, although the backlight is on (the apple glows). Sometimes, on start up, the screen works normally for a random amount of time before going fuzzy and then black again.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Is it likely to be a problem with the hardware in the actual computer, or just the screen? Or is it a software thing?
My wife's macbook will turn on, it stays on the gray screen with the apple. After a while it will just shutoff. I have tried removing the battery and holding down the power button for 5secs but did not work. I also reset the pram and also did nothing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my Mac mini (bought in April 2009). When I use VirtualBox on Mac OS X, I have absolutely no problem installing Windows 7 64-bit in a new virtual machine. However, I want to run it Windows 7 natively on my Mac mini. So when I insert the Windows 7 DVD and reboot my Mac, holding the C key down so as to boot from DVD, then it does seem to be reading the DVD, but all I get is a light gray screen. I then hit the Return key, and it does seem to do even more. Still the screen stays entirely gray.
I have the impression that it behaves like it does with VirtualBox, except the screen stays gray all the time. When I use VirtualBox, the first thing that happens is that it prints "Hit any key to boot from CD or DVD" (or something like that). When I do hit a key (e.g. Return), then it continues printing "Setup is loading" (or similar) and loads more stuff from the DVD for about 90 seconds. So it really seems to be that it does just that when using it natively (without VirtualBox), just the screen stays gray.
