Aug 10, 2010From about three weeks ago, on only my most heavily used email account (it has around 75,000 emails in it and gets around 200 emails each day), I was only able to download 4 emails at a time. Then it would stop. I would click "Get Mail" and it would download the next 4 emails. I'd click "Get Mail" etc etc until all emails were downloaded.
I tried to find a solution, but couldn't, so I just put up with it (it was really only a pain in the butt first thing in the morning).
Then, this morning - disaster! My main account only downloads one email at a time! It shows "55 of 55 Incoming messages", then next time "55 of 55 incoming messages" etc. A new one must have arrived because now it is showing "56 out of 56" (but I still have 6 hours of emails to download).
Important info:
* Email is hosted by gmail.
* Account is setup as a POP account.
* This issue is not affecting other staff on a mac, using same domain for email. Nor is it affecting any other email accounts I have (about 16 active email accounts, including 2 others hosted by gmail).
* Mail version is 4.3
* OS is 10.6.4
* Hard drive has 83GB available
* Last week I installed an extra 2GB of ram - so it wont be a lack of ram.
* No other email accounts are affected.
* There are 20 unread emails sitting in my Gmail account waiting to be downloaded (I logged in to Google Webmail and saw them).
* I have checked the Activity Monitor for Mail and that account seems to act absolutely perfectly (if it only had 1 email to download). In other words, there is nothing in the Activity Monitor that suggests a problem.
OS X :: Entourage 08 And Mac Mail Have Stopped Sending Email?
Apr 9, 2009I am in the UK and use google mail, it's been fine for ages but I hardly ever send emails. So today I needed to and I can't! I can send emails from google mail online fine, but my Mac Mail refuses to and I have installed Entourage 08 tonight, updated it and again it fails to send, I have reset my router, set everything to IMAP from POP, deleted and created new email accounts in each programme but STILL neither will send emails!
I am begining to wonder if Google Mail is in fact poo as it seems to cause many problems for people?

May 15, 2012In trying to send an oversized video via email (exceeded 25 MG) size limit, I got an error message. I thought I deleted the email. However, whenever email is open, the message continually gets recovered, blocking any email from being recieved. I am able to create and send emails. Internet checks out ok. Using AOL.iMap. It seems that I am not able to interrupt the continual attempts to send the original email.

Aug 24, 2014My mail program has stopped receiving mail from the server, Cincinnati Bell, zoomtown. I have had numerous weird sent items that come back as undeliverable to people not in my contacts. When i try to log in it tells me that my password is incorrect. I tried to check on webmail and CB is saying they have locked my account for suspicous activity and i should remove the " virus" and they will reopen my account. I thought that macs did not get viruses.

Mac Mini :: Apple Mail Receive Stopped Working?
Apr 5, 2012have been using Mail (to my Yahoo account) for a few weeks. A few days ago it just stopped working. Checked the Connection Doctor, no issues, able to connect with the Yahoo server. I am able to send email, just not receive. After a bit of reading I tried to do the Rebuild but it is greyed out. Also not able to delete email messages that are in the mailbox, I delete them but they are not actually deleted, they re-appear. Now I get a message box 'The file 10217.emlx' cannot be opened because there is no such file'.

Mac Mini :: Add Zimbra Email To Apple Mail In Lion?
May 16, 2012Have a Zimbra server at work for my work emails which I also use to recieve my emails on my Iphone. I have been trying to set up for email for our Zimbra server at work on my new Mac Mini's mail. I have server address, User Name, Password, and have tried all the various ways to set it up. On my Iphone 4 it is set up in the mail config as an exchange. I tried to copy the settings my iphone uses and imput them into the mail setup. Every time I have tried POP, IMAP, Exchange I get a message that it cannot connect to the server and I should check my connection to the internet. I kinda had a similar problem setting it up on my Iphone initially. I am starting to think that Apple is lacking when it comes to its native mail app. It has no problem registering my google email but for some unknown reason it wont take my work email through exchange.

May 21, 2012I have configured my iPhone and iPad to connect to an Exchange Webmail Server and it works properly, including sync of email, calendar and contacts.
Settings include:
- email address
- server name (webmail.xxxx.com)
- domain
- user name and password for authentication
- SSL on
- S/Mime off
Now I have tried to do the same on my new iMac/Lion, using Mail. While all my email accounts (gmail, POP3, etc.) work well, I am unable to configure my Exchange account. In particular, I have used exactly the same settings as for iPhone/iPad (all but the domain name that is not in the configuration wizard and I have used domainusername as username), but it does not work. A first pop-up says that the system cannot get the certification of the server. Then when I click on "Continue" it says that it cannot connect because the password/username are not correct (however I have used the same settings that work on iPhone/iPad).

Jun 5, 2014New Mac Pro using Mac Mail. suddenly stopped downloading emails. My partner can dowload from the same server on her mac, same OS, my iphone also can. Mail is connecting to the server OK, sees the emails but then says no mail. Its sending mail OK. Applecare were unable to sort.

May 28, 2009I use Apple's Mail program and also my school's webmail (outlook.com) in conjuction to check my school email. However, for some strange reason, my inbox on outlook.com will only hold up to 2 weeks of mail. My inbox in Mail will still be intact, yet for the life of me, I can't figure out why my webmail inbox is disappearing. I've checked every possible setting on outlook.com to no avail. I've also checked Mail's settings, but haven't seen anything as far as deleting older mail. BTW, we're allowed 25 gigs on outlook.com so they shouldn't be deleting them automatically.

Jul 2, 2012my older MacBook Pro is not compatible with iCloud so I opted to just proceed with keeping my email. The bulletins said you could do that - just keep email but now today (my first access after the switch), my email does not download!! And I can not find it. I know there is some mail there since on Saturday through web access, I saw that there were several incoming emails that had not been downloaded. I use Entourage for email.

May 26, 2012As of yesterday 25th May 2012, Apple mail on my mac stopped receiving new mail. I checked my mail around lunchtime (all ok) then when I got home checked again...nothing! I had however had mail delivered during the afternoon to my Blackberry. I have a .mac and .me email address as well as a pop 3. These have all been set up for ages and I've had no problems. My pop 3 and two mac accounts all have worked wonderfully since I went over from Mobile Me to ICloud. I can still send from all three mail addresses from my mac. When I check my mail on iCloud via the web there are new messages in my inbox. I'm still getting these delivered to my Blackberry, as usual. Also my pop 3 account has started asking me for my password which I enter and save in my Keychain it then asks again. The only time this happens is when there is problem with iCloud, according to the Service Status everything is up and running. I have three macs and it's the same on all three.

OS X Mavericks :: Email Has Stopped Working?
Sep 10, 2014I have been using the same email account on my MacBook Air forEVER. I can log in to my email (I use google) via the web and I can still access my mail via my phone and iPad. I keep getting prompted for the password. I first get the "Mail cannot connect to the Google account, pls enter password". It will not accept my password. The connection Dr.'s connection status is that mail can access the internet (green dot at top of connection dr box). However, the status for my account shows that login failed and I need to check username and password. Internet Accounts, under system settings, recognizes this google account accepts the password.
I have checked, rechecked and triple checked the imap and the smtp. I have deleted the account and recreated the account. I have tried different ports. The only thing I notice is that it doesn't want to save any changes I make. Under the account information tab, everything looks correct except it doesn't show a password (no bullets indicating a secret word). I type in my correct password (and I know it is correct b/c I can login via a browser), go to the outgoing server screen, make sure that is correct and click back over to the account information tab to find that the password is again gone.
I am getting SO tired of doing all my email the hard way! Either on my mini or having to login via browser. I just want my apple mail app back up!!!
OS X :: Unable To Download Files / Browsers Stopped Downloading Files
Jul 21, 2010So a while ago i installed iGetter and jDownloader to handle some of my downloading needs. These have both been uninstalled a while ago and i seem to have the problem that if i navigate to a file in my browser it will not download, it just sits there and does nothing.This is really anoyying as i can't download any files anymore
I presume one of these applications has disabled this behaviour in os x so that it can hijack it and use the app to download files. Does anybody know how to revert this so that browsers can handle downloads properly?

Mac Mini :: Errors Downloading Updates On It?
Apr 14, 2012I am trying to download updates on my MacMini. Every time I try I get a message that says "Mac update cannot be saved you are not connected to the internet." but I am always connected to the internet. Sometimes I get other error messages, but I can't remember what they say. I have a Mac OS X 10.7 and it is trying to download Mac OS X Update Combined version 10.7.3 and Java for OS X 2012-003.
I should mention that I am also having trouble backing up on time machine. Though it works when I hook my external hard drive. A few months ago I was having some issues with my computer so I whiped it clean and I think somewhere in the process things got screwed up. I don't know if any of this has anything to do with why I can't update my computer.

MacBook :: Email Stopped While Sending Always Shown As Recovered
Jun 14, 2010I'm fairly new to Macs, I just got my Macbook back in March and I haven't had any problems with it until lately. Last week I sent a few very large emails through my mail client which is attached to my gmail account. I'm not sure what happened but while sending them, one in particular, stopped. Now, every time I open mail this email shows up under "On My Mac" under recovered up to 35 times. (Sorry, it's currently 71.) Since it's a huge email it's slowing everything down and making it impossible to use mail. On occasion when I try to delete it my entire mac freezes momentarily. I've tried deleting it in the folder but it always comes up again when I open my mail client and multiplies.

It's apple's email app. I notice that when trying to send it sometimes says that it timed out on port 25. She seems to receive items but can't send. She's sent things to me which haven't gotten through. She used to have a percentage bar and a sound when mail was sent which has stopped. She has full bars for her wireless connection and safari browses the internet fine. What should I be looking for?
