Mac Mini :: Install Fail Will Not Update To 10.7.4 At All?
Jun 11, 2012
Some days ago I went to upgrade my mac mini 2010.I downloaded the combo-updater, as this is my preference. I sometimes have trouble with the normal updater from software update. When running the install I get this message of error above. I tried doing it different ways, downloaded the updater numerous times to try again.I even REINSTALLED OS Lion from the original installer and started over with the same result, even allowing the installer to dl the update, as it asked to do so.So I completely started over with a clean re-partitioned drive and had the same result. I tethered it to my macbook pro 2010 in FIREWIRE TARGET mode and tried installing it that way, same result. I have also just let the Software Updater utility run and allow it to install the downladed update. That activity returns a "cannot expan" error message...End result: It will not for any reason install this update. This is a problem I have never encountered (in 25 years of using macs).

First I follow the boot camp assistant step by step, and my windows7 disk is connected to my mac. However, after it reboots, my screen turns black and the ''Non system disk, press any key to reboot'' appears. Now there is no respond when i press the keyboard, I have to reboot my mac by holding the power button.I have tried times and times, installing refit, using another disk but still cannot fail.

I'm trying to install boot camp and I can't install until I update the BOOT ROM. I've downloaded the package macmini2011efiupdate.pkg and this corresponds with my 5.2 model identifier. I have already updated lion to 10.7.3 and I seem to think that maybe the boot rom update was intended for 10.7.2 and it won't let me install on 10.7.3 because it thinks it isn't compatible? The message I get when I try to install the Boot ROM update is this software is not supported by your system.

So I ran the software update on my Mac Mini, it downloaded 7 items. One was the OS itself, which failed, but said it would retry. The download had a status bar the whole time and did get to the end. Now I think the other updates are being installed, but can't tell. There is no window telling me what it's doing. If I try to restart, it says that the update program stopped the restart. Am I supposed to be seeing progress? As I open the Software Update program, the menu at the top has mostly greyed out items. What do you suggest that this new Mini user does?

I reinstalled my OSX a few days ago and it's back to 10.5.2. After running software update, it has Mac OSX Update Combine (737MB in size). So I clicked install per usual. However, after I finished downloading the file and it offered to restart and install, the installation failed. Meaning during installation, it stops 1/8 of the whole "installation bar" for 8 hours or so and it didn't budge a bit ever since. I'm not sure what to do now. Should I try to download the combo update from Apple website (729MB in size, not sure why the one in software update version is bigger in size) instead? And try to install that one instead?

...home directory is full. You must free up space in your home folder before using Mail. Delete unneeded documents or move documents to another volume." And the only button on the error window is...quit. I get this when starting my Apple Mail application. Can't load Mail. I run an older OS, Tiger 10.4.11 on this power-PC. I have 37 GB available on a 152 GB hard drive ( only had 20 available when I first got the message, then cleared 17 GB off...but still get the error message).Â

Anyone else experiencing the same issue? after updating to 10.5.7 i got a grey band across the bottom of my screen after restart. I logged in and went to system preferences, but the highest resolution i can now choose is 1920x1080.
My screen is a HP w2448hc, its capable of 1920x1280, worked at this res before update. Anyone suggest a fix? or did they restrict the mac mini in the update?

http://www.apple.com/macmini/In all the mayhem over the iPhone 4, Apple quietly updated the Mac Mini with a Aluminum case, along with some spec bumps, and some output jacks. The feature that caught my attention is the HDMI out port Apple added. This is the first time an HDMI port, in or out has been on a mac as far as I know. This gives me hope that we just might start to see HDMI ins and outs on some of the upcoming macs.Which brings me to my point, I am patiently waiting for the next iMac update, which I am hoping has an HDMI in. I am a college student and enjoy gaming on my spare time, own an xBox 360, but lack an HDTV. I hope to kill two purchases with one buy, spending my very hard earned cash on a powerful computer (Enough power for Max Settings in the upcoming Diablo 3 and StarCraft 2 PC Games) and an HDTV for my xBox 360.

Not quite sure what to do.Installed 10.5.7 on my iMac and my Air with no issues. Was running the update onto one of my mac minis and it hung in the "Running Installer Script" bit. After an hour I decided to power cycle which it had no issues with. When I check the OS now it says it is on 10.5.7. but I'm not sure how to confirm that the update has been completed correctly.

having issues updating thier firmware? Software update shows the 1.6 firmware update needing done, I go throught the process, it reboots and never installs the firmware. System profiler still showing the old version. I tried downloading the file from Apple's website and manually installing and it does the same thing. I'm at my wits end here. It doesn't really bother me except that it constantly shows up in software update.

Has anyone else had issues with playing media via the DVD Player after the latest OS update. When stopping or pausing the audio and video jutters for a couple of seconds afterwards. Have used the delta, combo and full clean reload of 10.7.4 all have the same issue. Reinstalled 10.7.3 and the issue goes away.

Sound was working fine on mac mini (mid 2010) until I updated to 10.7.4. Now Toshiba TV shows up as an option under sound, but no sound comes out. I tested that my stereo system is not the problem - it still plays sound through hdmi from the blu ray player.I tried resetting PRAM and SMC on the mac mini, neither worked. I followed all the troubleshooting steps prior to resetting the SMC and the problem persisted.

I get this error: "unexpected error occurred (0); unable to upgrade firmware". They refer me to this site: [URL]. I just bought this late 08 MBP and I have a bootcamp partition running Windows XP Pro 32Bit on a NTFS partition. Why is this so complicated? Macs have always been easy on me until this. They tell me to do a full reinstall but I don't understand how this will fix the problem since I don't know where this comes from. It says to go check my "Partition Map Scheme" and I have a "Master Boot Record". It says I need a "GUID_partition_scheme". How come I don't have a "GUID_partition_scheme"?

I can not update or install new apps. Some work though, some do not. For example I can update GarageBand and UberStrikeHD(2 random apps that I have an update available for) and I can not update LevelHelper and Trillian(also just 2 random apps I have an update available for).As for new apps ... Well, all that I tried they didn't download(ReadLater, CodeCollectorPro and RamOptimizer Lite, Apple Configurator are 4 of the apps I tried downloading). I get to enter my password, the app "goes" into the Launchpad, but the bar that should show the progress of the download gets filled instantly and the Appstore shows "Installed" instantly, while the Launchpad icon also shows the bar full instantly, but the app is obviously still greyed out since it didn't really download anything. Then after a few seconds I get an error:"The application could not be downloaded. The requested URL was not found on this server". Cancel or Retry, retrying doesn't work either.Â
I am using a broadband internet connection, but I tried it with several USB devices and I got the same result (also tried sharing the broadband connection from a macmini and connect to it through internet sharing, still didnt work)... And I do not have 10.7.3 installed, since it is a 2GB update and my broadband data plan is capped at 4GB, but I doubt it will fix anything, since in the past I got this error before, but I have no idea how it got fixed. I also tried every Apple provided support article.Â
Console log shows 3 errors, as follows:Â
