I know, I know, another thread asking for advice. I've read through the forums, and I'm not really finding what I'm looking for. I'm seeing most of the sleeves on Amazon are listed as being for the other Macbook (the unibody aluminum one) I want a snug fit, and the power adapter shouldn't be factored into this decision, as I don't want a messenger bag, I will carry my Macbook in my backpack, so we're good there. Price range is under $40 USD including shipping. I was at the Apple store last week, and I looked at the Paul Frank ones, I don't need a designer case, I want one that will protect it, and that's about it.
The rubber bottom of my MacBook (unibody, late 2009 model) is coming off. Should I take off all the screws and try to reposition it? Also, it is under the one year warranty but not under the 90 day Apple tech support. Will Best Buy fix it for me?
I cant decide which to get the incase or larobe sleeve... incase is not as thick as la robe both of similar price... And also have anyone used Delsey Insect laptop backpack? Cant find any review on that particular bag?
Wanting to get a sleeve ordered for my 13.3" MBA that I am waiting for from apple. Looking to get something MBA specific to use inside my main bag. I am assuming most companies will continue with their MBA sleeves from the previous gen for the 13.3 as the size differences are small? Any recommendations? Preferably not USA based as they all charge ridiculous shipping to the UK, SFbags etc
Does the late 2008 unibody Macbook pro have Sata II or III?I have an Apple branded 256GB SSD and It isnt booting up as fast as I think it could be. I am wondering if my logic board supports sata III because I think the SSD could be Sata II. Â
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), SSD 256 GB with 8GB of RAM
What are the differences and pros and cons? Can you switch out the keyboard on one? Switch harddrive? And just general differences. I'm still on windows but thinking about switching. So a little help would be much appreciated.
I have a Macbook pro (late 2009) and I'm trying to connect it to a fairly new Samsung LED tv. Ive tried to connect it to the tv with audio with two cables: a minidisplayport/hdmi cable and the audio jack/RCA cable. The video works just fine, but the audio is not working. The computer doesn't even recognize the tv as an audio output device. I found out that only macbook pro's made after late 2010 support audio through the HMDI cable so i was trying to find a cable that will support audio on my 2009 macbook pro.
Last Friday, my half charged Macbook Pro randomly turned off and was unresponsive. No sleep/power indicator light, no start up chime, nothing. The only thing that works is the battery indicator light. I have tried a PRAM reset, SMC reset, everything suggested on this website and in the manual. I'm wondering what I'm looking at replacing here, and what the cost could be.
I recently purchased my mac and I had this problem once already, but it fixed it quickly with a safe reboot. When I turn it on the chimes go and the grey screen appears with the apple logo and loading bar. The loading bar disappears before showing any progress and goes straight to the apple logo with the gray spinning wheel. I've tried doing a safe boot, along with resetting the PRAM and SMC, but nothing works.
i have the 13 inch 2009 unibody macbook (see signature for specs) and am thinking of upgrading to the 13 inch macbook pro when it's refreshed in Q1. what do you guys think? and what's macmall all about? is it some place i can post my macbook?
I know a lot of things that have to do with computers but they are very general things. When it comes to a computer crashing, I have no idea how to find out why it happens. My late '08 Unibody MacBook has been crashing on the frequency of 2-3 times a day or so and is very frustrating! I have no idea why it's doing it, but i did copy the thing I get when it restarts. Here is the log for the last 3 times it has crashed
I'd like to format and reinstall operating system for my mbp 15 inch from internet (no startup CD required). What keys I should press when the mbp Startup?
Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch 2.53 GHz), Mac OS X (10.7.2)
what are the battery cycles for a late 2009 MacBook.I see that it is starting to drain my battery like really fast, here I have been typing this and have watched my battery go down 10%.
Info: MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.2), Also MacBook 2.2 13.3", and now an iPad
I just got my first unibody MBP this summer and I love it! But the black _really_ shows the oil from my fingers. I was curious of what is the safest way to go about cleaning all this off.
What's the difference between the two? Is the new one thinner than the old? Is the connections the same? Etc, etc, etc? What I would like to do is maybe take out the original keyboard and replace it with the newer model, along with the new trackpad. Is this possible, or no? I don't care if the material is different, but I'm just wondering if it'd actually work?
I recently purchased a Late 2008 Unibody MacBook. I am thrilled! Yet I seem to be having the same charging issue MANY other people have had and have still not found a solution. Basically, as with everyone else, when I connected the Magsafe connector, it stays on finishing charge as if stuck there. I have left it for 2 full days and nights now with no luck. I have calibrated the battery and it is still doing it. The battery only shows 60 cycles and it's health it at 80%. I've even reset the SMC with no avail.
I Have an October 2008 Macbook Unibody 13.3 and after installing Lion the CPU fan stays permanently on and the battery drains in 2 hours. What can I do to fix this?

I have a late 2009 model MacBook Pro and lately I've noticed that it sometimes - seemingly at random - restarts itself when I tell it to shutdown (through the Apple menu then Shut Down)
Anyone encountered this or know how to fix it? I haven't had any other problems except for a month or two back it did an update then stuck on a blue screen with a little loading icon like you get under the apple when it starts up normally. After half an hour of waiting, I performed a hard reset, and it worked fine.
So my macbook is just a few days old, but i think i found something weird with the dvd drive. Its my first mac, so i dont know about this. But is it common that i have to push the whole dvd/cd inside the drive before it know its a dvd/cd there, its just a tiny bit of cd/dvd to spot before it takes it and sucks it inside. I thought, when over the half of the cd/dvd in, it sucks the cd/dvd inside automaticly. Seems weird i have to push it all inside before something happens. Is this normal? Also it makes alot of noise at the start, when it sucks it in
I did this for the Macbook Pro's a while back, but I'm a Macbook guy now. There are a few other threads with profiles but it's no good if you use a profile made from a different panel than what you have. I'm just trying to consolidate things here.
I will try to keep this post current; please only submit profiles created from hardware, not those done by human eye (meatware?) And be sure to say which panel the profile is for. Thanks to everyone for contributing and improving the Macbook experience!
How to determine your panel type/code How to install and use color profiles
Basic tests to determine if a profile is a good fit:
Black level White level Gamma

I recommend using the Native whitepoint.See attachment (rezonat0r-9c89-alt.zip)Spyder3 Pro. 2.2 Gamma, Native whitepoint. This is an alternate profile made from another Macbook with the LG panel. It is similar to the previous but slightly darkerjessica's profileSpyder2 Pro. 2.2 Gamma. Native whitepoint (I think - not confirmed) 9C8C (AU Optronics)
See attachment (rezonat0r-9c8c.zip)Spyder3 Pro. 2.2 Gamma. I only did a calibration at native whitepoint (honestly, if you really need 6500K then you won't be using a Macbook screen, or any laptop screen for that matter) 9C8A

As I mentioned in a previous thread, I'm selling my iMac to buy a MacBook. The MacBook (2008 uMB) has arrived, with all the discs etc, which is brilliant.
My iMac however, came preloaded with Tiger, with a Leopard upgrade disc in the box. This Leopard disc has disappeared off the face of the planet, and so Apple are shipping one out to me, not sure when it will arrive. In the meantime, my auction ends tomorrow, so would it be possible to restore the iMac using the Leopard discs that have come with the MacBook, or is it safer to reinstall Tiger, and wait for the Leopard disc to arrive before shipping?
I recently tried to upgrade my original 160GB HDD to a 500GB Scorpio Blue. I formatted the drive to HFS+ and installed Lion on it while it was in an USB enclosure. When i restart the computer, HDD boots off of the enclosure and it is fully functional and I can view it and my original drive. However, whenever I take my new HDD out of the enclosure and install it into my mbp all it gives me is the flashing ? error and it is not visible in boot utility either. I've tried everything I can think of to get this to work. I don't believe it is the HDD seeing as it can boot off the enclosure. What exactly are my options to fixing this issue?
Long story short, I now have a late 2008 15" MBP with a broken display housing, LCD housing, and glass bezel. The LCD itself, along with the iSight etc., is functional. I have the opportunity to buy a display assembly for the mid 2009 MBP, including a new screen, for a good price.
Would replacing the entire display assembly with the mid 2009 assembly work? Or could I buy the new assembly and simply replace the screen with my current one? Essentially, what is the compatibility of the two units. I'd prefer the mid 2009 screen for obvious reasons.I searched the forums here, as well as searching many other places, and I have not found the answer.
