MacBook Pro :: Replacing Late 2008 15" Display Compatibility With Mid 2009 Version?

Long story short, I now have a late 2008 15" MBP with a broken display housing, LCD housing, and glass bezel. The LCD itself, along with the iSight etc., is functional. I have the opportunity to buy a display assembly for the mid 2009 MBP, including a new screen, for a good price.
Would replacing the entire display assembly with the mid 2009 assembly work?
Or could I buy the new assembly and simply replace the screen with my current one?
Essentially, what is the compatibility of the two units. I'd prefer the mid 2009 screen for obvious reasons.I searched the forums here, as well as searching many other places, and I have not found the answer.
I have all the data double-backed up so I'm not worried about that, but assuming I have to replace it what can I get? I'd heard that you can put any 2.5" SATA drive into a late 2008 15" mac-book pro, but occasionally I see consumer reviews saying things like "only compatible with 2009 mac-book pros onwards" or "not compatible with lion".
My iMac is old. 2003 runs lepoard and 85 gig and I gig memory. Problem is can't find finder ( where's finder) turned off and on to no avail hard drive is 95% full also use Iomega 450 gig portable hd!
I am trying to connect my windows 7 laptop to my iMac 27 (late 2009). The laptop is an hp elitebook 8440p with integrated intel graphics and it has a display-port. I bought a displayport to minidisplay port cable and connected to my iMac 27; nothing is happening. My laptop says no displays detected and the iMac does nothing when i press command-F2...i've also tried command-F2-Fn. It doesnt even seem to respond to command-F2. Also under the keyboard shortcuts menu there are only two shortcuts for displays and its to dim and brigthen the display. The iMac and PC are both up to date with software; OSx 10.7.4 Lion.
I own a 1st generation MacBook Core Duo (black) with 80GB Fujitsu at 1.5 Gigabit/s. I want to replace this with a compatible hard drive. Will this - Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD3200BEVT 320GB 5400 RPM 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive - work in my laptop? I notice that it has a 3.0Gb/s speed versus my current Fujitsu 1.5Gb/s. I'm using Tiger, if this matters.
I swapped my hard disk on the above mentioned machine and it won't boot. When I turn the machine on it tells me that there is no bootable disk. I have previously booted from the disk via usb, so i know there is a bootable partition on it. I swapped back the original drive and it boots up fine. Why wont the external drive boot when run internally?
What are the differences and pros and cons? Can you switch out the keyboard on one? Switch harddrive? And just general differences. I'm still on windows but thinking about switching. So a little help would be much appreciated.
I have a Macbook pro (late 2009) and I'm trying to connect it to a fairly new Samsung LED tv. Ive tried to connect it to the tv with audio with two cables: a minidisplayport/hdmi cable and the audio jack/RCA cable. The video works just fine, but the audio is not working. The computer doesn't even recognize the tv as an audio output device. I found out that only macbook pro's made after late 2010 support audio through the HMDI cable so i was trying to find a cable that will support audio on my 2009 macbook pro.
Last Friday, my half charged Macbook Pro randomly turned off and was unresponsive. No sleep/power indicator light, no start up chime, nothing. The only thing that works is the battery indicator light. I have tried a PRAM reset, SMC reset, everything suggested on this website and in the manual. I'm wondering what I'm looking at replacing here, and what the cost could be.
I recently purchased my mac and I had this problem once already, but it fixed it quickly with a safe reboot. When I turn it on the chimes go and the grey screen appears with the apple logo and loading bar. The loading bar disappears before showing any progress and goes straight to the apple logo with the gray spinning wheel. I've tried doing a safe boot, along with resetting the PRAM and SMC, but nothing works.
Is there really a "Late 2008" model? If so, what is the difference.I ask because I recently got a MacPro and according to Apple's hardware test, it is an Early 2008.
I know, I know, another thread asking for advice. I've read through the forums, and I'm not really finding what I'm looking for. I'm seeing most of the sleeves on Amazon are listed as being for the other Macbook (the unibody aluminum one) I want a snug fit, and the power adapter shouldn't be factored into this decision, as I don't want a messenger bag, I will carry my Macbook in my backpack, so we're good there. Price range is under $40 USD including shipping. I was at the Apple store last week, and I looked at the Paul Frank ones, I don't need a designer case, I want one that will protect it, and that's about it.

what are the battery cycles for a late 2009 MacBook.I see that it is starting to drain my battery like really fast, here I have been typing this and have watched my battery go down 10%.

I have a late 2009 model MacBook Pro and lately I've noticed that it sometimes - seemingly at random - restarts itself when I tell it to shutdown (through the Apple menu then Shut Down)
Anyone encountered this or know how to fix it? I haven't had any other problems except for a month or two back it did an update then stuck on a blue screen with a little loading icon like you get under the apple when it starts up normally. After half an hour of waiting, I performed a hard reset, and it worked fine.
So my macbook is just a few days old, but i think i found something weird with the dvd drive. Its my first mac, so i dont know about this. But is it common that i have to push the whole dvd/cd inside the drive before it know its a dvd/cd there, its just a tiny bit of cd/dvd to spot before it takes it and sucks it inside. I thought, when over the half of the cd/dvd in, it sucks the cd/dvd inside automaticly. Seems weird i have to push it all inside before something happens. Is this normal? Also it makes alot of noise at the start, when it sucks it in

I had always read that the max. ram I could install on the Macbook 13inch late 2008 model, model 5,1, 2.4 Ghz, boot rom version MB51.007D.803, SMC Version 1.32f8, was 4GB of ram. I received an add from "Other World Computing"Â stating that I can install 8Gb to this model. I am running Lion and do a lot of photography so the idea of increasing ram is interesting. However, I don't want to waste my money.
I recently tried to upgrade my original 160GB HDD to a 500GB Scorpio Blue. I formatted the drive to HFS+ and installed Lion on it while it was in an USB enclosure.When i restart the computer, HDD boots off of the enclosure and it is fully functional and I can view it and my original drive.However, whenever I take my new HDD out of the enclosure and install it into my mbp all it gives me is the flashing ? error and it is not visible in boot utility either. I've tried everything I can think of to get this to work. I don't believe it is the HDD seeing as it can boot off the enclosure. What exactly are my options to fixing this issue?
MacBook Pro started giving me terrible glitches, Where 1) Applications will quit unexpectedly and 2) I will get the gray cover over the screen with text saying I need to restart my computer.

I noticed it all started happening after I installed ProTools LE.
I've already erased my internal hard drive and reinstalled snow leopard, then put my necessary files back.
I have also upgraded my RAM and HDD, about 3 months ago and it's been working flawless until I installed ProTools LE.
I am about to upgrade my late 2008 aluminum MacBook 2.4 Ghz to 6GB of ram from owc but wanted to know if the will support 8GB, running at full stability. From what I can tell from other threads is that the owc 8GB kit doesn't work is this correct? If it can handle 8GB of ram I will do that instead of 6GB.
I'm thinking about upgrading to a SSD but wanted to know if my MacBook (see sig) had a Serial ATA speed of 3 Gigabit or 1.5. The System Profiler says : Vendor:NVidia Product:MCP79 AHCI Link Speed:3 Gigabit Negotiated Link Speed:1.5 Gigabit Description:AHCI Version 1.20 Supported
under Serial-ATA. So I'm not sure if that means the the port is a 3 Gigabit port but the HD is only 1.5. Does that mean the SATA cable is a 1.5 Gigabit speed, and I'd need a new cable, or what? Also if it is 3 Gigabit port that means it's SATA II, right?
My macbook display is just too small for watching movies at my girl's pad, so I was wondering if I can connect the macbook to her Toshiba TV (non-flat pannel/HD)? What adaptor or connector do I need?
