View 3 Replieswhat are the battery cycles for a late 2009 MacBook.I see that it is starting to drain my battery like really fast, here I have been typing this and have watched my battery go down 10%.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a late 2009, white unibody MacBook which is 7 months old, and I have been noticing that the battery life is getting less and less, and am rather confused.I reset the SMC as per Apple instructions, and then followed the battery calibrating guide to the letter from apple.com, and tonight it seems to have lasted... 3.5 hrs! Hardly the quoted 7 hours that Apple spec, and I am simply doing light web browsing, nothing else.Am I doing something wrong? The machine sits connected to magsafe 90% of the time, but I cannot envisage that would cause any problem, as it knows when it is charged, so afaik no more current can get to the battery to damage it

View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook pro (late 2009) and I'm trying to connect it to a fairly new Samsung LED tv. Ive tried to connect it to the tv with audio with two cables: a minidisplayport/hdmi cable and the audio jack/RCA cable. The video works just fine, but the audio is not working. The computer doesn't even recognize the tv as an audio output device. I found out that only macbook pro's made after late 2010 support audio through the HMDI cable so i was trying to find a cable that will support audio on my 2009 macbook pro.

Last Friday, my half charged Macbook Pro randomly turned off and was unresponsive. No sleep/power indicator light, no start up chime, nothing. The only thing that works is the battery indicator light. I have tried a PRAM reset, SMC reset, everything suggested on this website and in the manual. I'm wondering what I'm looking at replacing here, and what the cost could be.
Info:MacBookPro
I recently purchased my mac and I had this problem once already, but it fixed it quickly with a safe reboot. When I turn it on the chimes go and the grey screen appears with the apple logo and loading bar. The loading bar disappears before showing any progress and goes straight to the apple logo with the gray spinning wheel. I've tried doing a safe boot, along with resetting the PRAM and SMC, but nothing works.

i just ordered a late 2008 macbook pro 15 with the dual GPUs (9400m and 9600m GT) and I'm a little worried about the battery life.
-What can I expect if just doing normal every day stuff (web surfing mostly?)
-does watching a movie off of the hard disk use less battery than watching it off a DVD? Is there a big difference?
I'm not a big gamer but would like to have the horsepower to play a game should one come out that I want. I'm also not a big traveler so battery times are only of average importance.
Basically, I'm asking if I made a good purchase considering I have only average concerns for both battery and game performance. They had the new 7 hour battery 15" macbook pro for the same price but it doesn't have the dual GPUs.
I know, I know, another thread asking for advice. I've read through the forums, and I'm not really finding what I'm looking for. I'm seeing most of the sleeves on Amazon are listed as being for the other Macbook (the unibody aluminum one) I want a snug fit, and the power adapter shouldn't be factored into this decision, as I don't want a messenger bag, I will carry my Macbook in my backpack, so we're good there. Price range is under $40 USD including shipping. I was at the Apple store last week, and I looked at the Paul Frank ones, I don't need a designer case, I want one that will protect it, and that's about it.

I'm planning to get a 13' refurbished MBA (Late 2010). Getting the stock model wouldn't be an issue, but if i wanted one with a 4GB RAM, is it possible to get one? SInce the RAM is soldered onto the board and upgrade is not an option.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm so worried. I turned off my MBP as usual yesterday and when I tried to turned it on today I get a white screen with the Apple Sign and a loading bar which never ends up loading. Nothing like this has ever happened and I haven't made any hardware or software modifications on my MBP. I thought the days of my computer crashing were behind once I switched to Apple. Ugh I don't/can't afford to lose all my files. I also tried booting from the OS X disk and trying to repair the disk but it tells me it can't be done.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a late 2009 model MacBook Pro and lately I've noticed that it sometimes - seemingly at random - restarts itself when I tell it to shutdown (through the Apple menu then Shut Down)
Anyone encountered this or know how to fix it? I haven't had any other problems except for a month or two back it did an update then stuck on a blue screen with a little loading icon like you get under the apple when it starts up normally. After half an hour of waiting, I performed a hard reset, and it worked fine.
So my macbook is just a few days old, but i think i found something weird with the dvd drive. Its my first mac, so i dont know about this. But is it common that i have to push the whole dvd/cd inside the drive before it know its a dvd/cd there, its just a tiny bit of cd/dvd to spot before it takes it and sucks it inside. I thought, when over the half of the cd/dvd in, it sucks the cd/dvd inside automaticly. Seems weird i have to push it all inside before something happens. Is this normal? Also it makes alot of noise at the start, when it sucks it in
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter try to get it out of sleep mode the screen stayed black
Tryed to turn it on several times (magsafe or batery)
Reset the PRAM
Reset the SMC
Tryed Safe ModeÂ
Tryed everything I've found about it but the screen is still black. The mac is on, can hear the fan and the lion start cause when I press a key I can hear a "bump"Â
Is that a know issue? Does apple offer an extra warranty period on this issue because it seems to be a comon issue on this machine.Â

I recently tried to upgrade my original 160GB HDD to a 500GB Scorpio Blue. I formatted the drive to HFS+ and installed Lion on it while it was in an USB enclosure. When i restart the computer, HDD boots off of the enclosure and it is fully functional and I can view it and my original drive. However, whenever I take my new HDD out of the enclosure and install it into my mbp all it gives me is the flashing ? error and it is not visible in boot utility either. I've tried everything I can think of to get this to work. I don't believe it is the HDD seeing as it can boot off the enclosure. What exactly are my options to fixing this issue?

I returned from a trip during which I used my MacBook Air (Late 2010) constantly. Upon leaving the hotel I closed the computer and put it into my carrier and did not open it until arriving at home later that day. There was moisture on the keyboard and screen at the corresponding position in an area about the size of a 50¢ piece, I cleaned that up and turned the machine on and it booted up and then created. Several times it would turn off and on a few times without any input from me. At times it will boot up like all is well but with any keystroke it crashes to a black screen. If I had to guess, I'd say the HD is toast. It was replaced under warranty once already. The moisture is a complete mystery.

My GF bought her MacBook Pro earlier this year (February 2010) and I believe her model is the "mid-2009" model. I just bought my MacBook Pro 2 days ago (woohoo!) Both are 13 inch. Question is if I was to upgrade my RAM to 8GB, could I use my old 4gb RAM to replace her 2GB RAM?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm just curious, though, as to whether there are any actual differences at all between the aluminum enclosure for the 2010 model and the mid-2009 one. For example, I'm positive the lid on my new MBP feels much heavier when I close it / open it than my previous one did, but I can't wondering if that's just my imagination ("it's new, therefore it must be different somehow").
Having gotten this one as a free replacement for my previous faulty machine (and had AppleCare thrown in too, talk about customer service!), I obviously no longer have my old one, so I can't compare the two side-by-side... so my question is, has anyone who has both models noticed those sorts of little differences, or am I convincing myself there are changes that don't exist?
The rubber bottom of my MacBook (unibody, late 2009 model) is coming off. Should I take off all the screws and try to reposition it? Also, it is under the one year warranty but not under the 90 day Apple tech support. Will Best Buy fix it for me?

I have a late 2010 Macbook Air, 13 inch, with the 126 gb hard drive. I was curious if there was a way to upgrade the hard drive at all. I know this isn't "officially" suported, but I've seen some compines online that claim to do it.
I haven't priced out the SSD drives or anything, so I'm not even sure if it's cost effective to upgrade.Â

Long story short, I now have a late 2008 15" MBP with a broken display housing, LCD housing, and glass bezel. The LCD itself, along with the iSight etc., is functional. I have the opportunity to buy a display assembly for the mid 2009 MBP, including a new screen, for a good price.
Would replacing the entire display assembly with the mid 2009 assembly work?
Or could I buy the new assembly and simply replace the screen with my current one?
Essentially, what is the compatibility of the two units. I'd prefer the mid 2009 screen for obvious reasons.I searched the forums here, as well as searching many other places, and I have not found the answer.
Can I use an iMac 2009 as external monitor for a MacBook Air 2010?
