Using Safari, when I select "never" under preferences, I still recieve many cookies. I understand that if I am signed in to yahoo for example, the cookie will be replaced. However, if I am not signed in, but just connected to the net, I still get these cookies.

I want to back-up all Bookmarks, cookies etc from Safari whilst my iMac goes away to Apple for repair. I then want, should anything happen to them whilst it is away (unlikely, as it is a failed DVD drive, but one can't be too careful!) to be able to restore them at a later date. How can I do this?
What file(s) do I need to copy to my external drive and how can I later restore all current bookmarks, settings, etc? Is it just a case of copying, deleting and later restoring the plist file? I've backed up most other important data and settings but my mind has gone inexplicably blank (don't you dare mention advanced age!) on Safari!

When I hover my mouse over an application (such as Terminal) it freezes with the message 'process Termainl [pid] caught causing excessive wakeups...'Â
Some applications (such as Google Chrome) work fine. Others (iTerm, Terminal, Hipchat) are susceptible. If the application exhibits the behaviour - without fail, simply hovering the mouse over the application window, without clicking or giving it explicit focus, will cause it to freeze.Â
Prior to this, my battery had swollen and the suspicion was that it was pressing against the trackpad resulting in a constant stream of interrupts. I took the battery out and am typing this without the battery - the issue persists.Â
I also tried disconnecting the trackpad. Same issue, even when using an external mouse to navigate.
My next previous computer was a powerbook circa 2003, and I got it up to 10.4..and I could easily manage cookies, see what they were and who from- AND when Isaid block them it WORKED.What the **** is going on with this bit where they offer a block 3rd arty cookies and from advertisers - chcek box, but it STOPS NOTHING?

Time Machine no longer works for me. Apparently the volume of stuff it wants to back up is too large for the partition devoted to it (on an external hard drive). But I can't choose the exclude anything because the Options button in Time Machine Prefs is greyed out. I've deleted the TimeMachine .plist file, and restarted, but no go. A couple of days ago I checked for updates for my Lion - I was in particular looking for the Java update to fix the recently reported security issue - and selected 2 items including the Java update for downloading. I checked the size of the items and they added up to be less than 200MB in total. But as soon as the downloading started, the total size suddenly became 1.4G!!! There was no obvious way for me to check exactly what I was downloading and de-select any unwanted updates. I didn't want to stop the downloading because I did want to make sure I have the Java update.

I receive a dialog box asking to allow or deny Adobe Flash to install something on my iMac when I run Flash enabled web content. I cannot select the allow or deny buttons and the box stays on screen throughout the video. I have downloaded the latest version of Flash and my software is up to date.

I just removed over 1000 cookies. They were bogging the system down to the point of having some pages freeze. I then closed Safari. I launched Safari again a few minutes later and all the cookies were back, even though the only site I went to was the Apple open page.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIt's a 2.16 intel Core 2 duo with the ATI Radeon X1600 128MB video and I'm running OSX 10.7.3. It started happening on Snow leopard so I thought maybe upgrading to Lion would fix it but it has continued exactly the same. I've had an issue for a while now where the computer would just freeze all of a sudden. It happened after a few days at times while sometimes it happen right after a reboot. Â
Here are the things I've tried.Â
1. I upgraded to lion
2. I replaced the ram
3. Look at the crash log but found nothing
4. Ram mem check utility but it found nothingÂ
I can boot the computer in safe mode by holding the shift key and it works perfect with no freezing but I loose audio support becuase I think it's not loading the audio drivers. Question is: Can I select what drivers I want on boot when starting in regular mode not safe mode in order to try to disable drivers until I find the issue? Is there anyplace else that I can find which driver caused the computer to freeze after a freeze/crash? If I can ID the driver is there a way to update/replace the driver if it doesn't come up in "software update"? I'm thinking it's the video driver becuase I would occationally get some weird things happening on the screen that I attributed to an older display.Â
