But, the fact is that Apple only allows this on computers that support booting from an USB drive (aka they don't have optical drive). Â
Though, whether i can adopt an non-recommendation folk prescription, i.e.[URL] there any risk there ? Â

My husband has the system set up so the kids accounts are secured by NetNanny. We noticed tonight that the kids can't use Word, Excel or Powerpoint from their accounts. Â
You can only see it in my account. You can't see it in my husband's Administrator account. How do we change this? We'd like all users to be able to use the Office products.Â

I have a new 3.4 GHz Thunderbolt iMac and can't get Thunderbolt Target Display Mode to work with my current-model 13" MacBook Air or the current model 15" MacBook Pro furnished to me by my employer. Cmd-F2 just creates a beeping sound. I tried three different Thunderbolt cables. (They are not Mini DisplayPort cables. I have one of those from a previous model of iMac and it both looks different from the Thunderbolt cables and System Information doesn't show any change when I try to patch the computers together using it.)
All machines are fully updated to MacOS X 10.7.4 with all firmware updates applied. System Information shows that all are equipped with Thunderbolt interfaces; the Console app shows the kernel message indicating when the Thunderbolt devices are plugged in and removed; all three machines work in Thunderbolt Target Disk mode in both directions with all three cables with both Thunderbolt interfaces on the iMac.

I just removed over 1000 cookies. They were bogging the system down to the point of having some pages freeze. I then closed Safari. I launched Safari again a few minutes later and all the cookies were back, even though the only site I went to was the Apple open page.

Using Safari, when I select "never" under preferences, I still recieve many cookies. I understand that if I am signed in to yahoo for example, the cookie will be replaced. However, if I am not signed in, but just connected to the net, I still get these cookies.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'll be switching from a PC to a MAc, and it just dawned on me that there are a number of cookies on my computer which I would like to take with me. I find some cookies to be very valuable. Some sites, I want to remember me; such as, banking and some shopping sites. Also forums and other places which have passwords and can remember me, or can remember where I've been on the site. Is there anyway to take those along? My procedure is to copy everything I need to my external drive and then copying from there to the Mac. I don't think I'll have much of a problem finding out where things should be put; so, I'm not using any automatic migration assistance or plugging the two computers together.
